At left, from left, following the final MIST swim meet of eligibility for the five are 2015 SEISA 3-Peat Champion Team performance members: Jacob Baugh, Michael Bradley, Jessica Nichols, Matthew Boles and Taylor Baresel. They display the traveling trophy proudly, which will be engraved for a third consecutive year with MIST as the overall Champion, as well as the Meet first place trophy.
Swimmers placing 1st in their events were: Danielle Baugh, McKenna Bradley, Alyssa Brinkman, Darcie Diem, Ariel Haessig, Noah Haessig, Mackenzie Kent, Cole Knecht, Molly Knecht, Holly Kraemer, Elizabeth McKittrick, Santiago Schutt and Dylan Thomas. Taylor Williamson MIST has been competing in the summer swimming program for 39 years against teams from Batesville, Decatur County, South Dearborn, Hidden Valley, Jennings County and Madison.
Guiding the reins of MIST is David Baugh, gentleman, father and solid community minded citizen. He is also the Raiders Head Boys Soccer Coach and Raiders Co-ed Head Swim Team Coach at South Ripley High School as well. He and wife Lisa have taken the swimming program and made it very competitive in a very short period of time. The MIST program has allowed kids from different schools other than just Milan to participate. Many of those swimmers over the years have been South Ripley students and have benefited from training and competing under Baugh. That coupled with the positivity of Milan High School being willing to share their pool for South Ripley to have a program has enhanced both school’s swim teams immensely, while enforcing good competition between them. The coaches will tell you that their success during meets is largely due to the dedicated commitment made by swimmers to do their best and continue improving their times and by the swimmer’s parents, who see that they get to practices and meets.
