Ray H. Meeker

Ray H. Meeker, age 74, of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Osgood passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. He was born August 12, 1939 in Remmington, Ohio the son of Ray and Nora B. Whitaker Meeker and they preceded him in death.

Ray was a man who loved life and people. He was an entrepreneur and renaissance man. He had been successful involved in different businesses throughout his life. Collecting arts, guns and antiques along with cooking, hunting, fishing and boating were some of the hobbies that Ray enjoyed. He had presently owned and operated the Jewelers Box in Lawrenceburg.

He is survived by his loving partner and best friend, Teresa Rothert of Lawrenceburg; one daughter, Noreen Evelyn Meeker of Liberty Twp., Ohio; one son, Ray H. Meeker, III of Sarasota, Fla.; three daughters, Stephanie Kay (Dustan) Bray of Loveland, Ohio, Cathleen Ellen (Bill) Heckman of Mason, Ohio, Carrie Audra (Constantine) Cassis of Loveland, Ohio; close and dear friend, Jerry Beard of Osgood; 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Maxwell Carl Heckman in 1999.

Visitation were held Wednesday, December 18,. at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19 at Church of the Saviour United Methodist Church, 8005 Pfeiffer Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in Cincinnati.

Carolyn Ruth Herron

Carolyn Ruth Herron, age 62, of Osgood, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born May 16, 1951 in Iuka, Miss., the daughter of Sam Virgel Rhodes, Violet (Clayton) Tallman and step-father Ed Tallman.

Carolyn met her husband Thomas Herron in high school and they were married October 31, 1970, a total of 43 years. She was a volunteer EMT with Rescue 69 for several years. She worked at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood and also at Muscatatuck State Hospital for 13 years until it closed. Carolyn enjoyed camping, gardening, reading, sewing and baking with her grandchildren. She was known for making one of the best carrot cakes ever.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Herron of Osgood; one son, Joseph Herron and fiance Jennifer Fowler of Westport; two daughters, Patricia (Jeff) Davies of Osgood, Sandra (Brian) Liming of Versailles and three sisters, Betty Childs of Tenn., Faye (Dean) Clowers of Fla., Jo Moore of Versailles and Vera (Ric) Jones of Tenn. She is also survived by grandchildren, Olivia and Anna Liming of Versailles and Hanna and Andrew Davies of Osgood. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marilyn Hancock Huntington.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21 at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood with visitation from 10 to 12 noon with services at noon. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Osgood.
