Fred M. Brown, 81, of Moores Hill passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Dearborn County Hospital at Lawrenceburg.

Herbert L. "Red" Childers

Herbert L. "Red" Childers, 78, of Moores Hill, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at University Hospital in Cincinnati.

Jessie E. Hess

Jessie E. Hess, 84, passed away at her residence in Sunman on Friday, April 26, 2013.

She was born on September 6, 1928, to Clarence and Clara Regel McCool. She married Vernon R. Hess, Sr., on October 5, 1946, in Portland, Indiana, and he preceded her in death. She was a Unit Secretary at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville for over 38 years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary in Sunman, and St. John's Lutheran Church at Hubbell's Corner. She was very devoted to her family and her work, and she was loved by all.

Left to honor Jessie's memory are her children, Vernon R. Hess (Jackie) of Cincinnati, OH; Shirley Becker (Michael) of Villa Hills, KY; Linda Oelker of Osgood; and Nancy Miller of West Harrison; grandchildren Julie Hess, Marc Hess, Christopher Oelker, Kara Oelker, Brittany Fischer, Melissa Gear, and Jenny Burton; great-grandchildren Kaleigh Burton, Lily Burton, and Addie Gear; and one sister, Phyliss Jean, living in Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation is today, Tuesday, April 30, from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. Pastor Chad Adamik will officiate the funeral service on Wednesday, May 1, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Evangelical Union Cemetery at Hubbell's Corner.

Constance A. Slayback Hils

Constance A. Slayback Hils of Napoleon/Cave Creek, AZ, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Batesville (IN) to Stanley I. and Alene (Bloom) Richey.

A 1957 graduate of I.C.A. in Oldenburg, IN, Connie married and moved to Florence, KY, where she raised two sons. She was preceded in death by Thomas Slayback.

Survivors include her mother, Alene M. Richey, of Greensburg (IN); husband, Vince Hils of Cave Creek; sons Todd Slayback of West Palm Beach, FL, and Stephen Slayback of Hollywood, FL; step-son V.J. Hils and step-daughter Desiree Scanlon both of the Cave Creek area; and two brothers, Randy Richey of Indianapolis and Robin Richey of Greensburg; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews. She was a beloved wife, devoted daughter, loving mother, and caring sister.

Interment will be at Forest Lawn, Erlanger, KY. Memorial donations may be made to "Hospice of the Valley," Phoenix, AZ, at hov.org/donate.

Brenda Leone Ehlers

Brenda Leone Ehlers, 64, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Highlands Health & Rehabilitation in Louisville, Kentucky.

Brenda was born on December 13, 1948, in Milan, the daughter of Willard Ehlers and Amy Romans Ehlers, who preceded her in death. A brother, Harry, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are brothers, Nelson (Janel) Ehlers of Hanover; Timothy (Cindy) Ehlers and Raymond Ehlers, all of Madison; one aunt, Stella Bennett of Vevay.

She was a 1966 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and attended Sullivan University to study the travel industry. She began a career with Grote Industries in 1966 until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of the Mt. Byrd Christian Church in Milton, Kentucky.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m., at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, with Brother Aaron Snelling officiating. Geraldine (Gerri) Martin

Geraldine Martin (Gerri), a long-time resident of Dillsboro, passed away April 18, 2013, at her son's residence. She was born June 3, 1938 in Taft, Kentucky, to Melvin and Cora Middleton.

Gerri is survived by her daughters Sue Wetter, Versailles, and Linda Lewis of Parma, Ohio; her sons Wayne (Tammy) Martin, Edinburg; Keith (Chyanne) Martin, Rising Sun; and David Martin, Rexville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters, Wanda Crabtree, Church Hill, Tennessee; Glenda Wright, Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and Debbie Mahone of Elizabethton, Tennessee. Also surviving are a host of relatives, friends, and coworkers.

Gerri is preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Raymond Middleton; Burleigh Middleton; and Jim Middleton.

Gerri was a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother. An avid fan of country music, she attended many concerts, fan fairs, and toured Nashville, collecting country music memorabilia and autographs and pictures.

She always carried a love for working with the public. She was a former employee of Frisch's in Lawrenceburg, from 1968 to 1996, and made many long-time friends with both the employees and customers. She was employed at Rising Star Casino from the day it opened in 1996 until her illness in January 2013. As a hard-working, faithful employee at both of these businesses, she received many awards, honors, and recognition.

There will be a memorial service for Gerri on Saturday, April 27, at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro beginning at 11 a.m. Friends may meet her family for a time of sharing memories at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. In her emory, memorials may be made to a charity of choice. DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro, is entrusted with the arrangements.

Ella Mae Stork

Ella Mae Stork, 95 of Osgood, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born May 20, 1917 in Morgan City, LA, the daughter of Charles Franklin and Mattie Russell Garber.  She married John Henry Stork, Jr. on December 27, 1947 and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2005.

Ella Mae was a WWII Navy Nurse Veteran. She was also a member of the Osgood American Legion and the Osgood United Methodist Church.

She was clearly a southern lady that brought her charm, graces, and winning smile to Osgood. Her cajun cooking was loved by her neighbors, friends and especially her family.

Survivors include sons, John Henry Stork III of Morgan City, LA, Robert Franklin (Eileen) Stork of Cincinnati, OH, and Richard Garber Stork of Osgood; brother, Glen Garber of Lake Charles, LA; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Dr. Jared, Vernon and Eugene Garber; and two sisters, Martha Vidos and Lois Garber.

Services will be held all in one day, Thursday, April 25 at the Osgood United Methodist Church with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services immediately following. Military graveside services will be by the Keen Henneke VFW post of Napoleon and the Osgood American Legion post.

Wm. Linden Bittner

Wm. Linden Bittner, 81, formerly of Versailles, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born February 27, 1932 at Wrights Corner in Dearborn County, the son of Linden G. and Anna M. Grenat Bittner. He married Viola "Abbie" Mae Borders and she still survives.

Other survivors include daughters: Shirley A. Childress of Covington, KY, and Debra K. Bittner of Ohio; brothers: Herschel "Pete" Bittner of LA and Larry M. Bittner of Brookville; special friends: Trina (Jamie) Schutte and Barbara Bowling, both of Versailles; six grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Janice Waits and Mary Richardson.

Wm. had worked for Thatcher Glass of Lawrenceburg, and in his later years had done part time work for Alco in Versailles. In 1987, he joined his wife and helped her with her ministry and evangelistic work. Both were greatly loved and respected by everyone they touched.

He was a member of the Versailles Wesleyan Church.

Funeral services will be held all in one day, Thursday, April 18, at Neal's Funeral Home, Osgood. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles.

Emma Jane Sparks Brumback

Emma Jane Sparks Brumback, 88, of Osgood, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born January 6, 1925 in Irvine, Kentucky, the daughter of Elijah Alden and Martha Ann Brinegar Sparks. She married Omar Gilman Brumback July 31, 1943 in College Hill, Kentucky and he survives at home.

Emma had worked for US Shoe in Osgood and later for Randalls of Greensburg, where she retired after approximately 13 years of work. She and her husband had enjoyed fishing and camping for many years. She also loved quilting.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Lee Brumback of Whetstone, Arizona and James Alden and wife Joy Brumback of Holton; one daughter, Betty Mae and husband Danny Lee Mains of Versailles, seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

One grandchild; three brothers, Estill, Luscille and Ed Sparks and two sisters Dixie Hardy and Amanda Horn all preceded her in death.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17 at Neal's Funeral Home, Osgood. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. with funeral services to begin at 8 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorials may be made to the Greendale Cemetery of American Diabetes Association.

Mildred "Mickey" I. Heffelmire

Mildred "Mickey" I. Heffelmire, age 85, a long-time Dillsboro resident, passed away Thursday evening, April 11, 2013, at Ripley Crossing in Milan.

She was born September 4, 1927, in Lawrenceburg to Rossie Jeffries and Stella (Stewart) Jeffries, and graduated from Versailles High School in 1945. On August 11, 1946, she was married to John Russell Heffelmire, and he passed away on March 11, 1988.

Mickey was employed for many years at Schenley's, Heffelmire's Feed and Farm Supply, and she was an LPN and worked in hospitals in Cincinnati and Milan. She was also employed at Dillsboro Manor as an accounting secretary.

Mickey and her husband were charter members of the life squad. Mickey was a long-time member of Dillsboro United Methodist Church, and she loved doing ceramics, reading and crocheting.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Mike (Retta) Heffelmire of Dillsboro, Steve (Ginny) Heffelmire of Lawrence-burg, and Larry (Marilyn) Heffelmire of Aurora; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Marilyn) Jeffries of Dillsboro, and David (Margie) Jeffries of Birmingham, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeff Heffelmire; and three sisters, Mary, Martha and Ruthie.

Funeral services for Mickey will be Saturday, April 13, at 3:30 p.m. at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro with Pastor Tom Fehrman officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery.

Friends may meet her family on Saturday at the funeral home from noon until service time at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be given in her name to Oakdale Cemetery Trust Fund.

Robert H. Heitmeyer

Robert H. Heitmeyer, age 80, of Dillsboro, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Dearborn County Hospital.

Bob was retired from Joseph E. Seagram's & Sons Distillery and was a long-time firefighter and former fire chief of Dillsboro for many years.

Bob is survived by his wife Verna (Cleeter) Heitmeyer; a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Heitmeyer, of Cleves, Ohio; and Tim (Debra) Heitmeyer of Dillsboro. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Davin (Barbara) Heitmeyer of Houston, Texas; Kristi Heitmeyer and Kris Heitmeyer of Dillsboro. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17 from 5-8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9901 Central Ave. in Dillsboro. The funeral service for Bob will be Thursday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Kolaskey officiating.

Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro with full firefighter honors.

Memorials may be given in his memory to the Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Dept., or to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Jubal Christian Kohlmeier

Jubal Christian Kohlmeier, 82, of Osgood, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at his home. He was born November 6, 1930 in Delaware Township of Ripley County. His parents were Friedrich August "Gus" and Minnie Pauline Stoutamire Kohlmeier. He married Margie Ann Peetz October 9, 1954 and she survives at home.

Jubal graduated from Napoleon High School in 1949. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had worked in Osgood for Reynolds Gas, which then became Phillips Petroleum and later became Empire Gas. He retired in 1994.

Jubal was a past assistant-scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America Osgood Troop #638, was a member of the Gideons International, and a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity & Promise Keepers.

He was a faithful member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Finks Corner near Osgood.

Survivors include Margie A. Peetz Kohlmeier; sons: Marlin W. (Rachel) Kohlmeier of Holton; Metro A. (Dioselina) Kohlmeier of Vallonis; daughter: Christi P. (Patrick) Lewis of Neenah, WI; seven grandchildren: Jessica (Robert) Koffie, Ryan Kohlmeier, Scott, Amber, Brett and Abbey Lewis and Joshua Kohlmeier; three step grandchildren: Stefanie Rodriguez, Yarko (Eveie) Rodriguez and Jose' (Missey) Espinosa; three great grandchildren: Mya, Marie and Mabel Koffie; two step great grandchildren: Jose' Luis and Jose' Ernesto Espinosa.

He was preceded in death by one brother, F. A. "Gus" Kohlmeier.

Services will be all in one day, Saturday, April 20, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Vina M. Siebein Williams

Vina M. Siebein Williams, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Friday, April 12, at the Covered Bridge Nursing Centre in Seymour. Vina entered this life on June 12, 1922 in New Marion. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Lorilla Fox Siebein.

She was raised in New Marion and was a 1940 graduate of New Marion High School and was awarded for her perfect attendance.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Joe) Williams Handlon of Madison; her son, Michael (Mamie) Williams; and grandchildren Suzy (John) Turner, Kris (Stacy) Williams; Andy (Cassie) Sachleben; and great-grandsons Kameron and Mason, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vina was united in marriage on May 12, 1940, to Bud Andrew Williams in Osgood. Vina enjoyed working with her husband in the Williams Construction Company. Vina also found great enjoyment in managing "The Gift Box," for several years. She became a faithful member for 50 years of the North United Methodist Church. She helped organize the Hi-Neighbors Home Ec Club in Madison and was a member for over 50 years. She was a member of the Madison Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years and also a member of Hanover Chapter No. 525. She helped to organize the Red Hatters Society of Madison.

Vina was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lorilla Fox Siebein; her husband of 63 years, Bud Andrew Williams; her brothers Emmett, John, Lewis, Gayle, and Everett Siebein; her sisters, Edna, Furlow and Marie Andrews.

Visitation is at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, on Wednesday, April 17, from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, April 18, from noon until the time of service. The Hanover Chapter No. 525 Order of Eastern Star will conduct eastern Star services on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre on Thursday, April 18, at 1 p.m. with Dr. Matthew Stutlz officiating with burial following at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison. Henry A. (Brownie) Brown

Henry A. (Brownie) Brown, 80, of Moores Hill passed away Wednesday, April 3, at the Ft. Thomas VA Facility at Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. Burial was at Wilmington Cemetery. Evelyn Housemeyer Elder

Evelyn Housemeyer Elder, 90, a long time resident of Dillsboro, passed away early Thursday morning, April 4, 2013 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She had been a resident at "The Seasons" of Ripley Crossing in Milan, for the past two years. Evelyn was born April 6, 1922 to Dale and Golda Jackson Seymour. She had one sister, Thelma Clore and one brother, Kenneth Seymour.

Evelyn graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1940, and lived most of her life in Dillsboro and Aurora. She was a member of Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Aurora and attended Osgood Baptist Church the last few years.

She was married to Edwin Housemeyer until his death and to Robert "Gordon" Elder until his death on January 14, 2006.

Evelyn had one son, Carroll Lee Housemeyer, who preceded her in death.

She was an excellent seamstress, who was employed for many years at the Cochran Chair Company in Aurora.

Evelyn is survived by two stepsons, Dennis (Ann) Elder, of Aurora, and Richard Elder, of Cincinnati, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Victoria Elder, of Georgia; three step grandsons, five step great grandchildren; and two nieces, Sharon (Gary) Eaglin and Amy (Keith) Ertel, both of Batesville.

Funeral services for Evelyn were held Monday, April 8, at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro, with Pastor Donald Buck officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro. Eva L. Goodpaster

Eva L. Goodpaster, 88, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born near Pleasant in Switzerland County on May 4, 1924, the daughter of Chance and Blanche Spencer Steele. She was married to Frank Goodpaster on April 21, 1942 and he preceded her in death on September 5, 1989.

Survivors include three sons, Frank (Paula) Goodpaster of Napoleon, Keith Goodpaster of Versailles, and Randy (Penny) Goodpaster of Greensburg; one daughter, Debbie (Don) Vogeler of Versailles; seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; and one brother, Sam Steele of Little Rock, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Richard, her daughter Nancy, and her sisters Agnes Lovins and Jenola Marsh.

Mrs. Goodpaster was employed with US Shoe in Osgood for 17 years. She had also been employed with Civil Service and during WWII she worked at Kemper-Thomas in Norwood, Ohio where she inspected gas masks used during the war.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Roger Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.

Pearl H. Guenther

Pearl H. Guenther, 94, of Sunman, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Funeral services were held Monday, April 8 at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. Burial was in the Evangelical Union Cemetery. Ronald D. Oney

Ronald D. Oney, 75, formerly of Versailles, passed away Friday, April 5 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. He was born on May 24, 1937, in Kentucky. His parents were John Burnes and Fonsby Lucille McCarty Oney. He was a past employee of Dunbrick in Versailles.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and J. B. Oney, and one sister, Rebecca Johnson. Survivors include two brothers, David Oney of Bloomington, and Raymond Oney of Fairfield, Ohio; two sisters, Lillie Dean McCarty of Salyersville, Kentucky, and Letitia Lee of Madison; and brother-in-law Vernon Johnson, Jr., Columbus.

Mary Kathleen Thola

Mary Kathleen Thola, 90, formerly of Holton, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born February 19, 1923 in Holton, the daughter of Leo John and Eva Mary Koechlin Miller. She married Robert Thola and he preceded her in death in August of 2001.

Survivors include brothers, Roy Miller of Holton, Ralph (Joyce) Miller of Osgood; sister, Leola Elizabeth Ebinger of Holton; sister-in-law, Laura Miller; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Leslie Miller; and also one sister, Florence Marie Miller.

Mary was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Osgood.

Albin E. Waldbillig, Jr., 57, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Hospice of Cincinnati. He was born in Cincinnati on June 22, 1955, the son of Albin Sr. and Mary Ann Tierney Waldbillig. He was married to Nancy Black of Versailles on May 30, 1980 and she survives.

Other survivors include his mother, Mary Ann Waldbillig of Cincinnati; three sons, Albin Waldbillig III, Jacob Waldbillig, and Nicholas Waldbillig all of Cincinnati; two brothers, Gerald (Tawni) Waldbillig of New Mexico and James (Sandy) Waldbillig of Cincinnati; two sisters, Janice (Jim) Groh and Jennifer (Rob) Pippin both of Cincinnati. He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Waldbillig was a 1973 graduate of Purcell-Marion High School and received his BA in philosophy from Xavier University. Al was a registered nurse and had also graduated from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing. He was employed with Alternate Solutions Home Care in Cincinnati and was a former employee of Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospital, Jewish Hospital, Choice Care Insurance, and Option Care Walgreens all in Cincinnati.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 8 at the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Cincinnati with Rev. Rachel Billups officiating. Memorials may be given to the Shiloh United Methodist Church or the Versailles American Legion in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Frances L.Wingate

Frances L. Wingate, 79, of Holton, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville. She was born at Osgood on July 26, 1933, the daughter of Wilbur and Audrey Morris Wilson. She was married to William Wingate on March 15, 1952 and he preceded her in death on October 16, 1983.

Survivors include one son, Tom (Penny) Wingate of North Vernon; five daughters, Bonnie (Robert L.) McIntosh of Holton, Katherine (Tony) Martin of Versailles, Rebecca Wingate of Holton, Mary Heidorn of Versailles, and Patty (Brian) Pollitt of Connersville; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Burton of Versailles; and one brother, Delbert Wilson of North Vernon. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Bud, Ronnie, and Gary Wilson.

Mrs. Wingate was a custodian for the Holton and South Ripley Elementary Schools. She had also operated the Small Sprout Greenhouse in Holton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Craven Cemetery at Milan. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Holton Fire Department in care of the funeral home.

Rosemary Wurtz

Rosemary Wurtz, 86 of Batesville, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born June 2, 1926 in Morris, the daughter of Rose (Schneider) and Thomas Merkel. She married Malcom Wurtz on October 4, 1947 at St. Anthony's Church in Morris, and he preceded her in death.

Rosemary owned and operated her own beauty shop as well as worked 30 years in housekeeping for Hillenbrand Industries.

Survivors include daughters, Kathy Back of Hamilton, OH, Jane Wood of Hamilton, OH, Connie Napier of Greensburg, Renee Simon of Napoleon; son, Tim Wurtz of Batesville; brothers, Thomas Merkel of Oldenburg, Leo Merkel of Morris; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Martha Gehring, Theresa Forthofer, and brother Sylvester "Butch" Merkel.

Funeral services are being held Tuesday, April 9 at St. Anthony's Church with Rev. Pascal Nduka officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Morris Fire Department or the St. Anthony's Capital Improvement Fund. Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville, is entrusted with arrangements.

Harold "Hap" Ellis Adams

Harold "Hap" Ellis Adams, 81, formerly of Osgood, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at St. Andrews of Batesville. He was born December 5, 1931 in Campbellsburg, KY, the son of Francis and Mattie Myrtle Burnett Adams. He married Carolyn Sue Davis on January 29, 1956 and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2006.

Survivors include sons: Jeffrey D. (Kathleen) Adams of Columbus, Roger W. (Tammy) Adams of North Vernon, and James D. (Christine) Adams of Osgood; daughters: Carolyn Lorri (Robert) Carpenter of Osgood, Kristi D. (Robert) Lyall of Bear, Delaware; brother: John Owen Adams of Crestwood, KY; sisters: Martha Joyce Louden of Shelbyville, KY, Wilma Louise Skinner of Greenfield; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

"Hap" was a Korean Army Veteran. He had worked for Neal's Ford Agency of Osgood and then for Jefferson Proving Grounds as a heavy equipment mechanic. He was a member of the New Testament Christian Church of Osgood; Scottish Rites of Indianapolis; Osgood Masonic Lodge; Osgood American Legion and a past NRA member.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, at Neal's Funeral Home, Osgood from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 4, at Neal's Funeral Home, Osgood at 10 a.m., doors open at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the Center Christian Church Cemetery in Mays.

Memorials may be given to the New Testament Christian Church; American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are entrusted to Neal's Funeral Home, Osgood.

Chester Lee Asche

Chester Lee Asche, 84, formerly of Osgood, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Jennings Health Care Center in North Vernon. He was born October 15, 1928 in Osgood the son of Clarence Theodore and Mary Daisy Schmaltz Asche.

Survivors include son: Theodore Earl (Amber) Asche of North Vernon; daughter: Marlene (Brian) Overshiner of Fischer; brothers: Wayne (Pat) Asche of Versailles, Kim (Anna Mae) Asche of Slidell, LA, Ralph (Patty) Asche of Milan and Roger Asche of Osgood; sister: Evelyn Hummel (Bob) Banchback of Rising Sun; grandchildren: Saylor Asche, Alexandra and Olivia Overshiner.

Chester was a Korean Army Veteran that had received the Purple Heart. He had been a lineman for Union Hall in Indianapolis for 30 years and had attended Cedar Creek Community Church of Osgood. He was a past member of the Keene Henneke VFW Post of Napoleon and also had been a member of the Osgood Odd Fellows.

Funeral services will be held all in one day, Wednesday, April 3, at Neal's Funeral Home, Osgood. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12 noon, with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in the Mud Pike Cemetery near Osgood.

Nettie J. Grigsby

Nettie J. Grigsby, 84, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Thornton Terrace in Hanover. She was born near New Marion on June 25, 1928, the daughter of Rufus and Lilla Brown Myers. She was married to Herbert Grigsby on February 27, 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2005.

Survivors include three daughters: Onita (Daniel) Stephan of Madison, Valerie (Robert) Miller of Hanover, and Debbie (Robert) Harting of Versailles; grandchildren: Karrie (Scott) Miller of Hanover, Tara (Ben) McKay and Damon (Mary) Stephan both of Madison, Andrea (Kevin) Sanders of Mt. Carmel, IL, Amanda (Jim) Edmonson of Vincennes, and Ashli (Eric) Monroe of Sullivan; five great grandchildren; and one sister: Rose (David) Burress of New Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Tommy, grandson Danny Joe Stephan, her brothers Russell, David, and Charles Myers, and her sisters Mabel Sexton, Leah Swinney, Betty Kieffer, and Mary Jo Lauber.

Mrs. Grigsby was a 1946 graduate of New Marion High School and retired in 1978 after 32 years with Seagrams. Nettie was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with her son-in-law Rev. Robert Harting officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the New Marion Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Robert Wilson 'Bob' Henman

Robert Wilson "Bob" Henman, 100, of Versailles, was born January 24, 1913 in Piqua, Ohio. He was the son of the late Cory and Livonia Lambert Henman. Robert died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Hanover Health & Rehab Center in Hanover.

Bob was a descendant of the Dilbone Family, an early Miami Pioneer Family that was massacred by the Indians in 1858.

He was raised in De Graff, Ohio and was a 1932 graduate of De Graff High School. He received his bachelor's in education from the University of Kentucky in 1941 and received his life license in vocational agriculture and related science in 1955 from the University of Kentucky.

Mr. Henman worked for the U.S. Entomology Department in Connecticut for the summer of 1940 working on the Dutch Elm Disease project.

Bob was inducted into the United States Army on June 30, 1941 at Fort Hayes, Ohio. He rose to the rank of Private, serving in Company D. 1534 Service Unit and the 87th Bomb Squad during World War II. He was honorably discharged on August 16, 1943 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana receiving the World War II Victory Medal and the American Defense Service Medal.

Bob served in the Signal Corps for six months in 1942 and attended the Case School of Applied Sciences. While there he worked in the Crosley Radio Plant as an inspector of field radios, which were used for field communications.

On March 10, 1943, Bob was united to his beloved wife, Mary Frances Marksberry in Cincinnati, Ohio. This happy union of 62 years was blessed with two sons, Carl Dale and Gary Wayne.

Bob had attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois and the Urbana Ohio Junior College for further education. Bob and Mary Frances moved to Versailles in 1948 and he worked for the Dearborn County Soil and Water Conservation District and worked on a research project in Coshocton, Ohio.

Bob then began a 32-year teaching career, teaching vocational agriculture, general science, chemistry and biology. He had taught at Dearborn County, Moores Hill, Dillsboro, Bright, Guilford, Milan, Defiance, Fairmount and retired in 1975. Bob was a member of the Lawrenceburg Masonic Lodge No. 4 F. & A.M., Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, the Murat Shrine, Jefferson County Farm Bureau, Versailles Lions Club, the 4-H, Historic Hoosier Hills Woodland Organization (tree farmers), and the Calvary Baptist Church in Madison where he had served as Deacon.

Bob had formerly belonged to the First Baptist Church of Dillsboro and had served as a Deacon. He was awarded the 4-H Leadership Service Plaque for 20 years of service.

Bob loved fishing, enjoyed the trees and nature, traveling to all fifty United States, raising llamas, genealogy, and loved animals.

Robert will be missed by his loving sons: Karl Henman (Karen) of Terre Haute, Gary Henman of Versailles; grandchildren: Brandon and Kathryn Henman; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cory and Livonia Lambert Henman; his wife, Mary Frances Marksberry Henman died, July 20, 2005; his brothers, William and Ralph Henman.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 2, at 11 a.m., by the Rev. Mike Hamby at the Calvary Baptist Church, Madison. Entombment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum near Madison. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the Calvary Baptist Church.

A final salute will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion. Full military honors will be conducted at the Chapel at the Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church. Cards are available at the funeral home. Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, is in charge of arrangements.

Lorraine L. Terry

Lorraine L. Terry, 88, of Milan, formerly of California, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born May 12, 1924, the daughter of Edith and Albert Lavers, both preceded her in death. She was married to Bob Terry, who also preceded her in death on March 23, 2005.

Survivors include three daughters, Pat (Dan) Hill, Joann (Warren) Lutey, and Debbie Sakraida; and one son, Anthony (Kelly) Terry; eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Her laughter, truthful attitude and much more will be missed.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 5 from 4-7 p.m. with Charles Hill officiating at 6:30 p.m., at the Cedars of Lebanon Fellowship in Dillsboro. Burial will be alongside her husband at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA on April 12 at 2:30 p.m.

Albert Steve Vaughn

Albert Steve Vaughn, 49, of Greensburg, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, at New Point Christian Church at 11 a.m. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in the South Park Cemetery, Greensburg. Harold White Wright

Harold White Wright, 82, of Osgood, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 at the King's Daughters' Hospital of Madison. He was born February 10, 1931 in Insull, Kentucky, the son of Jeptha and Ella Cox Wright. He married Jannette Keeton Wright on April 2, 1955 and by two days, she preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters: Anna (Dan) Wilson of Osgood and Marsha (Neil) Hendricks of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers: Bill Wright of Cincinnati, Ohio, Randall Wright of Middlesboro, Kentucky, James Drexell Wright of Coshocton, Ohio, and Damon Wright of Zanesville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by five sisters: Phyllis Carmony, Betty and Geneva Wright, Helen Long and Mildred Daniels; and one brother, Edward Wright.

Harold was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church near Osgood. He had worked for REMC in Osgood and retired after 25 years.

Jannette Wright

Jannette Wright, 75, of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at King's Daughters' Hospital of Madison. She was born March 21, 1938 in Salyersville, KY, the daughter of Charles Dewey and Delia Wages Keeton. She married Harold White Wright on April 2, 1955 in Lawrenceburg, and he passed away two days after Jannette on Friday, March 29, 2013.

Survivors include daughters: Anna (Dan) Wilson of Osgood, and Marsha (Neil) Hendricks of Nashville, TN; grandchildren: Christy (Mike) Sutton, Darren (Tracy) Wilson, and Jeremiah (Julie) Wilson, all of Osgood, Kimberly Bevel of Clarksville, TN, and Jenny (Billy) Buff of Murfreesboro, TN; great grandchildren: Christine & Robert Bevel of Cross Buff, TN, Mikayla, Morgan and Mason Sutton of Osgood and Emilee and Ryan Wilson of Osgood; nieces and nephews: Debbie (Lou) Leonetti, Tammy (Mike) Rork, Bob (friend Nancy) Johnson, Mike (Pam) Johnson, Greg (Leanne) Johnson, Tim (Liz) Johnson, and Paul Lewis; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Jannette was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Johnson.

Jannette belonged to Cedar Creek Community Church of Osgood. She had worked for US Shoe of Osgood for 28 years.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30, at Cedar Creek Community Church of Osgood, with burial in the Grandview Cemetery near Madison.
