Adele Martha Cors Lambert

Harold W. "Ike" French

Harold W. "Ike" French, 92, of Batesville and formerly of Milan, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. Ike was born Thursday, October 7, 1920 in Dillsboro, the son of William and Alma (Schill) French. He married Nita Jean (Liston) French on May 14, 1947 and she preceded him in death June 8, 2005.

Ike was a quality baseball catcher. In about 1941, he was invited to try out for the Cleveland Indians. Ike was selected by the Indians but chose instead to serve his country enlisting in the US Marines as WWII began.

After service he worked as a mechanic for International Harvester and later for Batesville Casket from which he retired. Ike was an avid sports enthusiast enjoying umpiring baseball and refereeing basketball games and reading sports magazines. He loved his orchids and fruit trees, hunting, fishing, working on farm machinery, and playing cribbage.

Ike was a member of the Milan United Methodist Church and the Milan American Legion Post #235.

Ike is survived by son William N. (Debra K.) French of Silver City, New Mexico and daughter Shirley J. (James D.) McGee of Bradenton, Florida; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 22, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Rev. Chuck Britt of the Milan United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in New Craven Cemetery at Milan with military rites performed by the Milan American Legion Post. Visitation will be Friday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Mary Ann (Emge) Simon

Mary Ann (Emge) Simon, age 64, of Fairview, was born January 31, 1949, in Lafayette, the daughter of the late, Leo and Rose (Klinker) Emge. She was raised in Lafayette, where she was a 1967 graduate of Lafayette Central Catholic High School and she resided near Fairview, since 1981.

Mary Ann received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1971 from Purdue University in West Lafayette. She was united in marriage on August 10, 1974, at the St. Mary's Cathedral in Lafayette, to Dale Charles Simon.

She was a former English teacher at the Switzerland County Middle School in Vevay, South Ripley Middle School in Versailles, and the Jac-Cen-Del Middle School in Osgood. Mary Ann was a former substitute teacher, for 20 years.

Mary Ann was a member of the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay. She was a former member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Osgood. She was also a member of the East Enterprise Homemaker's Club of East Enterprise, and the Eggleston Club of Vevay, and was a former Girl Scout leader at the Switzerland County Elementary School in Vevay for five years. She taught religion education at the St. John's Catholic Church in Osgood, and at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay.

Mary Ann will be remembered for her love of reading, sewing, enjoying music and visiting with her family and friends.

Mary Ann died Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 39 years: Dale Charles Simon of Fairview; daughters: Elizabeth Newman (Dan) of Columbus; Gina Marie Orlando (Rob) of Frederick, MD; son: Eric Simon of Fairview; grandchildren: Adeline, Julia and Matthew; sisters: Rose Marie Dolick (Bill) of Reynolds; Katie Emge of Delphi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: parents: Leo and Rose (Klinker) Emge; and brothers: Joseph Emge and James Gregory Emge.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, March 22, at 10 a.m., at the St. John's Catholic Church, Osgood. Interment will follow in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, March 21, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay, and the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.

Bertha Louise Fields, 79, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Funeral services will be Friday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at Neal's Funeral Home, Osgood with burial in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, near Milan. Florence Louisa Wessel, 92, of Batesville, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16 at 12 Noon at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville with burial in the St. John Church Cemetery. Judy Nell Boren

Judy Nell Boren, 62, of Dillsboro, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Lutheran Manor in Lawrenceburg, where she was currently residing. She was born January 31, 1951 in Cadiz, Kentucky the son of Tom Dawson, Sr. and Susie Mildred Lowery Dawson.

She resided for several years in Herndon, Kentucky. Judy was employed for several years at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and worked as a housekeeper in the Hospitality House on base. She was also employed at Walmart in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

She was a member of the Dillsboro United Methodist Church.

Her mother, Susie Mildred Lowery Dawson of Herndon, Kentucky; two sisters, Virginia York of Laceys Spring, Alabama and Debbie Dunning of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Isaiah, Katarina and Isabella Boren and many nieces and nephews survive her.

Her father, one son, Harvey Boren and one brother Ronnie Dawson preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 3 at the Dillsboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Jann Heseman officiating. There will be a scattering of her ashes later this year in Kentucky.

Memorials may be made to the Relay for Life, Dillsboro Prayer Walkers American Cancer Fund.

Arrangements were entrusted to DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.

Pauline Linkmeyer

Pauline Linkmeyer, 81, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. She was born near Farmers Retreat on July 12, 1931, the daughter of Martin and Hulda Ewell Kuhlman. She was married to Charles Linkmeyer on June 24, 1950 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2009.

Survivors include one son, Ronald (Janet) Linkmeyer of Friendship; one daughter, Teresa (Mark) Fender of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Jodi Linkmeyer of San Antonio, Texas, Eric (Monica) Adams of Vallonia, and Holly Gieb of Santa Barbara, California; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Viola (Norman) Dresselhaus of Friendship, Alvera Hockemeyer of Monroeville, and Melba Schulenburg of Tipton. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Norman, Edgar, and Harold Kuhlman.

Mrs. Linkmeyer was a 1949 graduate of Dillsboro High School. She had worked full and part time for 45 years for the Friendship State Bank in data processing and also as an assistant cashier, retiring in 1993.

Pauline was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat and served on the board of directors for the Tyson and Colonial Manors in Versailles.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat with Rev. Garry Wickert and Rev. Richard Wilke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church or cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Della Anna Meyer

Della Anna Meyer, 93, of Batesville, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, from 4-7 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. Geneva Marie Westmeyer

Geneva Marie Westmeyer, 80, of Indianapolis, formerly of Ripley County, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013. She was born May 26, 1932, in Friendship, to the late Edward and Orpah (Montgomery) Westmeyer.

Geneva is survived by family and friends, Donna G. Metzger, Vickie L. Pastrick, Ronald G. Pastrick, Jeremiah A. Pastrick and Joshua A. Pastrick; nieces and nephew, Pam Hildebrand, Peggy Ezell, Marilyn Travis and David Westmeyer.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at Linwood Christian Church, Indianapolis, with visitation a hour prior to services.
