James Davidson
James Davidson, 66, of Greensburg, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg. He was born June 12, 1946, the son of James and Marjorie (Jenkins) Davidson in Milan. He married Carroll Abbott on November 13, 1965 in Greensburg and she survives at home.
James worked at Delta Faucet and was a welder for American Lifts for 35 years and. He was a member of the First Church of God, past Master of Greensburg Masonic Lodge #36, was a member of Bartmeas Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, and Honorary Kentucky Colonel, Eagles Aerie #927 Greensburg. He was also a member of the Shrine Club of Columbus.
Other survivors include one daughter, Julie Ann (Todd) Lautenschlager of Indianapolis; one son, Kevin James (Carla) Davidson of Greensburg; five sisters, Linda Colson of Greensburg, Judy (George) Volz of Milan, Shirley (Toby) Berry of Moores Hill, Marlene (Melvin) Honeycutt of Elrod, and Susie (Richard) Van Dyke of Greensburg; seven brothers, Pat (Deb) Lazenby of Westport, Raymond (Janet) Jenkins of TN, Larry Davidson of Moores Hill, David (Pam) Davidson of Versailles, William Davidson of Moores Hill, Tim (Kathy) Davidson of Osgood, Greg (Tammy) Davidson of Milan; and one grandson, Tyler Davidson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Jerry Davidson.
Friends may call at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, on Friday, February 1 from 4-8 p.m. A masonic service will be held at 3:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 2, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the South Park Cemetery. Jeanette Roberts
Jeanette Roberts, 91, of Moores Hill, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at the Waters of Batesville. She was born Jan. 11, 1922 in Lancaster, Kentucky, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie (Lutes) Hughes.
She married William Roberts in 1959 and he preceded her in death in 1977. She was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. She liked to go to yard sales, shopping, quilting, needle pointing, working on crossword puzzles and baking, and she liked spending time with her family and friends.
Jeanette is survived by her sons: Andy (Carol) Hanna of Batesville, Larry (Joyce) Hanna of North Vernon; sister, Dorothy Miller of Moores Hill; niece, Audrey Dobson; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Her parents, brother, Ed Hughes; sisters, Fannie Naylor, Bertha Hughes, Nora Naylor and one granddaughter preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held today Thurs., Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home, Moores Hill with Charlie Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill. Visitation will be held Thurs., Jan. 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ralph E. Tebbing
Ralph E. Tebbing, 84, of Olean, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home. He was born near Olean on June 4, 1928, the son of William and Ada Ehlers Tebbing. He was married to Ruth Droege on June 10, 1961 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, David (Carrie) Tebbing of Olean; one daughter, Bonnie (Keith) Niehaus of Zionsville; grandchildren, Amy and Sarah Niehaus and Leah Tebbing; step grandchildren Kelsey and Amanda Cox; step great grandson Elliott Fruit; sister, Doris (Karl) Droege of Olean. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ray Tebbing.
Mr. Tebbing served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 with Battery A of the 738th Missile Battalion. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He worked for 38 years for Seagrams in Lawrenceburg retiring in 1994 and was also a farmer. Ralph was a member of the Versailles American Legion and a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean with Pastor Sue Socha officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at Olean. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Improvement Fund or the Friendship Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
Alvin "Ted" Tolbert
Alvin "Ted" Tolbert, 71, of Holton passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio. He was born at Seymour on February 27, 1941, the son of Theodore and Charlotte Olmstead Tolbert. He was married to Brenda Arnold on August 18, 1965 and she survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Michelle (Mark) Belanger of Versailles, Heidi Reil of Minnesota, and Sherry Sluder of Clarksville; grandchildren, Joey Belanger and Bryan Belanger both of Versailles, Deanna Belanger of California, and Sarah Belanger of Las Vegas; two sisters, Linda (Gene) Emily and Darlene (Steve) Oathout both of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Cheryl Callahan.
Mr. Tolbert was a US Navy veteran and a former employee of Arvins in North Vernon. He had also worked as a dispatcher with the Lawrenceburg Police.
Ted had served for 12 years on the Holton Town Board.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Bob McCreary of the Holton Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.

America B. Banks, 90, of Sunman, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 23 at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman, with burial in the Gibson Cemetery in Bright. Memorials may be given to the funeral home. Cook Funeral Home, Sunman, was in charge of arrangements.
Pamela K. McLaughlin
Pamela K. McLaughlin, 47, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Sun., Jan. 20, 2013. She was born Oct. 12, 1965 in Lawrenceburg, daughter of the late Leroy McLaughlin and Imogene (Bartles) McLaughlin.
She is survived by her mother, Imogene McLaughlin; two brothers, Dennis (Barb) McLaughlin, Mike (Katherine) McLaughlin; sister Denise McLaughlin and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy McLaughlin.
Family and friends will be received Sat., Jan. 26, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Sat., Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tom Holt officiating.

Barbara J. (Babe) Clift
Barbara J. (Babe) Clift, 75, of Holton, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born October 2, 1937 at North Bend, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence and Faye Vest Loos. She was married to Ernest Clift on March 19, 1954 and he preceded her in death on July 28, 2004.
Survivors include two sons, Ernest Jr. (Tina) Clift of Holton and Ben (Camilla) Clift of Columbus; five daughters, Rita Seaver of Moores Hill, Sheila (Harris) Osoffsky of Louisville, Tammy (Richard) Pickett of Versailles, Kathy (Sonny) Tanner of Greenwood, and Molly Manis of Milan; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Anna Lee Renfro of Hamilton, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother William Mercer.
Mrs. Clift was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, reading, her animals, and cooking. She also enjoyed her time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19 at 12:30 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Paul Wenning officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation will be Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Arthritis Foundation or Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.
Charles Edward "Ed" Cook
Charles Edward "Ed" Cook, 75, of Cross Plains, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Hanover Health & Rehab Center. He was born October 17, 1937 in Patriot, the son of Marshall and Thelma Webster Cook. He married Janice Marie Mathews on April 1, 1956 and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Charles Steven Cook of Cross Plains, Anthony "Tony" Wayne Cook (fiancé Laura Stroud) of Cross Plains; daughter, Amy Beth (Scott) Lee of Madison; grandsons, Andrew Cook and Caleb Lee; sister, Leah Jones of Patriot; nephews, Pastor Mike Jones, Mark and Patrick Jones and their families; niece, Monica (Glen) Leach of Batesville; sister-in-law, Nancy Brown of Cross Plains; brother-in-law, Paul Mathews of Cross Plains; his cousin that was like his brother, Eddie Wayne Trinkle of Poquoson, Virginia; and several cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ed was raised in Patriot and was a 1955 graduate of Patriot High School. He was employed with Reliance Electric Company in Madison for 20 years. He had served as a machinist with the International Association of Machinists Union for 40 years.
Ed had held every office in Local 1109 and served as an officer of District 90 in Indianapolis for 20 years. He also had served as an officer with the Grand Lodge Auditor for the International Association of Machinists.
He served for several years as the Ripley County Democrat Chairman and also on the South Ripley School Board and had helped to build the new elementary school.
Ed served faithfully the Cross Plains United Methodist Church in every capacity and helped to build the new fellowship hall. He also served on the Cross Plains Methodist Cemetery Board as well. Charles found great enjoyment in horses, his children and grandchildren. Charles was proud to be awarded a State of Indiana Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor O'Bannon on March 24, 2001 and also awarded a Kentucky Colonel.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison with Pastor Jerry Brooks officiating. Burial will be private at the Cross Plains Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will also be Thursday from 4-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kenneth George Engel
Kenneth George Engel, 80, of Milan, formerly of Dillsboro, passed away Monday evening, January 14, 2013 at The Waters of Dillsboro. Kenneth was born on August 17, 1932 in Batesville, the son of Frank Engel and Cora Timke Engel. He married Mary Lou Cutter on Oct. 12, 1957 and she passed away in 1998.
Kenneth was employed at Fernald for many years, retiring in 1997. He was a US Army Veteran, serving his country during the Korean War. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro.
Ken was very active as a ferrier, a blacksmith, and he raised Belgian horses. He pulled ponies on wagons as a hobby.
He was also a very active member of the Milan American Legion, working with many, many funerals as a member of the Legion Honor Guard.
Survivors include two daughters, Patty (Chad) Tyler of Dillsboro and Jennifer Engel of Elrod; one son, Bobby (Tina) Engel of Vevay; seven grandchildren: Bobby (Jenny) Lee Engel, Brittany Engel, Kaylee Engel, Richard Engel, Zachary Elza, McKenzie Anderson, and Morgan Anderson; four great grandchildren: Kinleigh, Emrick, Wyatt and Dillon Engel; one brother, Bob (Saundra) Engel of Portage, MI; and one sister, Betty (Charlie) Shorten of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Lou; and infant twins, Michal Dale and Daniel Lee Engel.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro, with Pastor Richard Kolasky officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Milan American Legion will follow the service at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Friends may meet his family at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday, Jan. 20 from 1 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. The family suggests memorials be given to the American Legion Post in Milan, The American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer's Association. Joseph E. Grace, 84 of Marion, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Heartland of Marion. He was born April 10, 1928 in Ashland, Ohio to the late Otto and Estella (Marshell) Grace. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Ann.
On July 4, 1948 he married Louise Griffith and she preceded him in death and he later married Gloria High Dettra and she survives.
Joseph was a retired minister serving a Nazarene church in Osgood. He was a member of the Kensington Church of the Nazarene in Marion, Ohio. Joseph was also a WWII U.S. Army Veteran.
Besides his wife Gloria, he leaves behind a daughter and eight sons: Anita (John) Graham of Fishers, David (Pauline) Grace of Richwood, OH, Roger (Sue) Grace of Grove City, OH, Mel (Barb) Grace of Jackson, MI, Tom (Vickey) Grace of Westport, KY, Steve (Lisa) Grace of Texas City, TX, Samuel Dettra of Merrit Island, FL, Peter Dettra of Mt. Gilead, OH, Timothy Dettra of Marion, OH, and 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Karen Lobdell of Delaware, OH, and a brother, Larry Grace of Puyallup, WA.
There will be a graveside service and burial for Joseph on Thursday, January 17, at 3:30 p.m. in the Pleasant Cemetery in Marion Co. Officiating the service will be Rev. Ron Takala. Calling hours will take place at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home in Marion, Ohio on Thursday also from 1 to 3 p.m., and a memorial service will also take place on Sunday, January 20, at 4:00 p.m. at the Kensington Church of the Nazarene.

Vera A. Dohrman
Vera A. Dohrman, 99, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Hospice of Cincinnati at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Cincinnati on December 20, 1913, the daughter of John and Sadie Licking Vogt. She was married to Henry Dohrman on October 10, 1945 and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Verona Gordon of Cincinnati. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law Tom Gordon.
Mrs. Dohrman had worked as a billing supervisor for OKI Welding in Cincinnati.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Dewberry. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.

Gladys B. Amis, 89, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at Ripley Crossing, Milan. Funeral services will be held Fri., Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be held from 12 - 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Gene O. Brown, Sr.
Gene O. Brown, Sr., 75, of Greensburg, formerly of Osgood, passed away at his home Fri., Dec. 28, 2012. He was born Feb. 8, 1937 in Marion County, the son of Jesse O. and Marjorie C. Sanders Brown. He married Patricia Anna Wolford, Feb. 15, 1959 at Hansing Park Christian Church in Indianapolis and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Eugene O. Brown, Jr. and companion Lori Bragg of Westport, William Michael and wife Gloria Brown of Hope; daughter, Christina Marie and husband Douglas Bennett of Greensburg; brothers, Raymond and wife Jeannie Brown, Robert and wife June Brown and Larry Brown, all of Indianapolis; sister, Barbara Fink and husband Jim of Indianapolis, 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
One daughter, Victoria Lynn Brown preceded him in death in 1968.
Gene had retired after working 30 years as a financial analyst for Cummins of Columbus. He was a member of the Osgood Christian Church, masonic member of the Prospect Lodge No 714 F& AM of Indianapolis, had coached Little League Baseball in Osgood. He was also a 50-year member of the Moose Lodge where he had served as a past Governor of the Osgood Lodge, was a 35-year member of the Sons of the American Legion in Milan and was also a member of the Eagles Lodge of Greensburg.
One of his favorite pastimes was working with wood.
Visitation will be held Thurs., January 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with funeral services being held at 12 noon.

Nancy Kay Hershman
Nancy Kay Hershman, 68, of Milan died at her residence Sunday. December 30, 2012. She was born December 3, 1944, at Milan, the daughter of William Kelly and Mildred (Millie) McKittrick Kelly Nocks. Nancy married William Hershman, September 30, 1972 and he preceded her in death January 13, 2010.
Nancy along with her husband owned and operated Hershman Interiors in Milan for several years. She presently drove a school bus for Milan Community Schools, a job she had done for 25 years. She previously had worked as an aid for the special education department at the schools. She had also served as manager of concessions and food at the Versailles State Park. She was a longtime member of Milan Rescue 30, having served as president for several years.
She was a member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at the Milan First Baptist Church, and was presently serving as Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star. She had also served as a board member and caretaker of Craven Cemetery for several years. Nancy was quick to help or give aid to anyone needing assistance.
Nancy is survived by daughter, Dawn Evans of Milan, brother David Kelly of Milan, sisters Susie Williamson of Milan, Brenda Mowrer of Indianapolis, and Darlene Grace of Aurora, grandchildren Cody Hershman and Keegan Evans and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a stepfather Wilbur "Pete" Nocks, and brothers Paul (Tug) Schuck and Tim Kelly.
Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, January 5, at the Milan First Baptist Church, 112 South Main St., Milan with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will be at a later time at New Craven Cemetery. Visitation will also be Saturday January 5 from 1-3:45 p.m. An Eastern Star service will start at 3:45 p.m.Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital.

Matt R. Kabbes
Matt R. Kabbes, 78, of Cross Plains passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born in Cincinnati on May 30, 1934, the son of Frank and Marie Smither Kabbes. He was married to Delores Riestenberg on May 14, 1955 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Michael (Bonnie) Kabbes of Cincinnati; three daughters, Kathy Kreimer of Burlington, Kentucky, Susan (Tom) Spielmann of Aurora, and Pamela Kabbes of Salem; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Helen) Kabbes and Bob (Judy) Kabbes both of Traverse City, Michigan; and one sister, Gail Schwettmann also of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lois Poettker.
Mr. Kabbes was a 1952 graduate of Elder High School in Cincinnati. He was a 37-year employee of F. A. Kamps Flooring in Cincinnati retiring in 1988 as the company owner. Matt was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Osgood and enjoyed fishing and golf. Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday, January 2 at St. John's in Osgood with Father Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. James F. Taul, Sr., 76, of Versailles passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at Friendship on August 15, 1936, the son of Hunter and Lois Ward Taul. He was married to Sharon Vanvolkenberg on May 27, 1961 at the Osgood Church of the Nazarene and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, James (Jill) Taul, Jr. of Lafayette and Jerry (Stephanie) Taul of Batesville; one daughter, Anita Bough of Linton; nine grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Edith Bullock of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jesse Taul, and his sister Betty Bode.
Mr. Taul was a 1954 graduate of Versailles High School. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 with Company B of the 100th Tank Battalion at Ft. Polk, Louisiana. He was rated as a sharpshooter, First Class Gunner, and a carbine expert. In civilian life he worked as a dispatcher with the CSX Railroad from 1960 until his retirement in 1998.
Jim was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church at Versailles, Versailles American Legion, Ripley County Voiture 40 & 8, the board of directors of the Cliff Hill Cemetery, and was a former member of the Versailles Fire Department.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Carter Corbrey officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the First Southern Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
