Lucille M. Adams

Lucille M. Adams, 93 of Cross Plains, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Dillsboro Manor. She was born near Canaan in Jefferson County on November 15, 1919, the daughter of Joseph and Jesse Brooks Risk. On May 14, 1938, she was married to Floyd Roscoe Eades and in 1958 she was married to James L. Adams, both preceding her in death. 

Survivors include one son, Donald (Barbara) Eades of Cross Plains; granddaughters, Karen (Mike) Feder and Laura (Chris) Hreno, both of Noblesville; great grandchildren, Trey and Avery Feder, and Eli Hreno.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Kenneth, her half-brother Victor Vanosdol, and her brother William Edward Risk.

Mrs. Adams attended the Benham School and was a 1938 graduate of Cross Plains High School. She worked as a surgeon’s assistant at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison and retired from the Muscatatuck State Developmental Training Center in Butlerville where she worked in the pharmacy.

Lucille was a member of the Cross Plains Church of Christ and enjoyed growing her flowers, watching birds, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 10 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, with Rev. Scott Elston of the Hebron Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery at Cross Plains. Visitation will also be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Salem Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Lin Oatman Townsend

Lin Oatman Townsend, daughter of Ruth & Ernie Oatman of Versailles, passed away on Aug. 17, 2013 in California.  A memorial service was held 11:00 on Saturday, September 7 at the Versailles Baptist Church with internment in Cliff Hills Cemetery.

She will be missed by her son, Shawn, and her grandsons, Nick & Josh. She will also be missed by her sister Katie and her family.

Linda Oatman (Lin) graduated in 1956 from Versailles High School. s  In school she was very active as a cheerleader for the Lions, a band member, and a class leader.  Upon graduation she attended Indiana University, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.  An excellent musician, she was the president of Tau Beta Sigma, a music sorority. Upon graduation from college Lin accepted a teaching position in California. For 15 years she was the president of her teachers union, negotiating contracts, serving on numerous committees on everything from curriculum development to building a new school. In the 1980’s she obtained her Master’s Degree in Administration from Pepperdine University.

Margaret Holt

Margaret Holt, of Milan, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at her home. Services are pending at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan.

Marvin Sizemore

Marvin G. Sizemore, 69 of Moores Hill, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Marvin was born Tuesday, June 6, 1944 in Indianapolis, the son of Hansford and Beatrice (Grills) Sizemore. He had been married to Linda Hartwell, Lois Collins Sloan, Winnie Lou Moody and Shirley Wainscott.

Marvin was a heavy equipment operator, and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #235. Marvin enjoyed yard work, playing cards and his dogs Sophie, Max, and Penny.

Marvin is survived by son, Ron Sizemore (Robin) of Morris; daughters, Tammy Jo Flint of Osgood, Rebecca (Ernie) Laine of Columbus, and Debbie Carter of Greensburg; brother, Charlie Sizemore of Holton; sisters, Margaret English of Holton and Ruth Shaw of Osgood, 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Marvin was preceded in death by wives Lois, Winnie Lou, and Shirley, and one son Michael Sizemore.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Rev. Harris Long officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at Cleves at a later time. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

David Ellis Wilkening, Sr.

David Ellis Wilkening Sr., age 68 of Osgood, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013.  He was born September 14, 1944 in Milan, the son of Thomas Charles and Vesta Cole Wilkening, both deceased.  He married Rita Ann Mann May 23, 1965 and she survives at home.

Other survivors include son, David Wilkening Jr. of Osgood; daughter, Diane (Andy) Wilkening Fritz of of Walton, KY; brother, Charles (Mary) Wilkening of Aurora; sister, Janet (Don) Stork of Osgood; and five grandchildren.

David was a member of the Osgood First Baptist Church, Osgood Masonic Lodge and the Indianapolis Scottish Rite. He was a past Osgood Lions Club member and retired from Joseph E. Seagrams. David enjoyed playing cards every other Saturday with his brother and every Friday with special friends.  Most of all, he loved his family. Fishing with his grandchildren was a very special time.

Funeral services will be held all in one day, Wednesday, September 11, at Osgood First Baptist Church with visitation from 4-7 p.m. and funeral services immediately following. Memorials may be given to the Osgood First Baptist Church or Greendale Cemetery in care of Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood.
