Rev. Ralph Campen
Rev. Ralph Campen, 53, of Dewberry passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 at his home. He was born at Dixon, Illinois on January 17, 1959 the son of Eldon and Alicia Teisort Campen. He was married to Susan Barnhardt on May 21, 1983 and she survives.
Other survivors include his father, Eldon Campen of Bedford; one son, Jacob Campen and his fiancé, Michelle Thomas of Milan; two daughters, Jennifer Campen and Edwina Hinderer both of Cincinnati; granddaughters, Faith Thomas and Jada Hinderer; one brother, Gordon (Kathy) Campen of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his mother and his son Jason.
Rev. Campen was a 1978 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School. He attended the Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Ft. Wayne and graduated from their seminary in St. Catherine, Ontario, Canada. He had pastored St. John's Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Canada and was currently pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Dewberry where he had served since 2007.
He also was a 1983 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy at Plainfield and had served with the Newton County, Indiana Sheriff's Department, the Hebron, Indiana Police Department, and was a former Town Marshall for Remington, Indiana. Ralph was also a former employee of the Hebron, IN Public Works.
Bertha E. Miller
Bertha E. Miller, 85, of Versailles passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at her home. She was born near Napoleon on April 28, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Bultman Rimstidt. She was married to Dennis Miller on January 10, 1950 and he preceded her in death on August 20, 1997.
Survivors include one son Wayne (Beverly) Miller of Versailles; three daughters Theresa (James) Meyer of Versailles, Rita Mozingo and Thelma Chalmers both of Greensburg; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother Warren Rimstidt of Ottawa, Illinois.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter Barbara, her parents, two grandchildren, her sisters Floriene Engle and Elsie Engle, and her brothers Jim and Warren Rimstidt.
Mrs. Miller was a 1945 graduate of Napoleon High School and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Osgood. She served as an administrative secretary for the Ripley County Red Cross from 1998 to 2010. She was also a former employee of Negengard's Five and Dime in Osgood and the Osgood Dry Cleaners. Bertha enjoyed her family, playing bingo, and following the Cincinnati Reds.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29 at 10 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Don Buck of the First Baptist Church in Osgood officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery at Osgood. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Greendale Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Mason Carl W. Sams, infant son of David and Kristy (Johnson) Sams of Moores Hill passed away June 21, 2012. Merrill Thomas Downey
Merrill Thomas Downey age 55, of Osgood, IN passed away June 17, 2012 at Linton, IN. He was born November 3, 1956 in Greensburg, the son of Wm. Donald & M. Lucille Walsh Downey. He married Pamela Joy Bolt September 15, 1979 and she survives at home.
Survivors include father: Wm. and step mother Elizabeth Downey of Osgood; wife: Pam Bolt Downey of Osgood; son: Brandon & wife Tonya Downey of Greensburg; daughter: Tiffany Downey of Evansville; sister: Marlene & husband Tom Meister of Osgood; step sister: Chris & Pat Weigel of Batesville; grandchildren: Grayson & Carson Downey of Greensburg; in-laws: Cecil & Evelyn Bolt of Osgood.
Mr. Downey was employed at REMC of Osgood as a mechanic for 34 years. He was a member of the Osgood First Baptist Church and a past volunteer fireman for Osgood Fire Department.
Merrill loved car racing. He started out in dirt car racing and then for the last twelve years, he and his son, Brandon spent many happy hours drag racing.
Merrill's true love of life was his family.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 19, at Neal's Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 20, at the Osgood First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. He will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery.

Marie Martin
Marie Martin, 83, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Morning Breeze in Greensburg. Born May 21, 1929 in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Ed and Frances (Moorman) Fisse.
She graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1947. She then attended the Versailles Industrial School and studied to be a seamstress. She then worked as a seamstress, cleaned houses, worked at the local canning factory and then worked for seven years at the Batesville Casket Co.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and traveling.
Marie married Randall D. Martin on August 30, 1958 and he survives. Randall and Marie made their home in Napoleon for over forty years prior to moving to Greensburg.
She is also survived by one brother, Charles (Eileen) Fisse, Greensburg; two sisters, Judy Muckerheide, Greensburg, Ellen (Lee) Wallace, Collinsville, IL.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Greensburg. A public rosary service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services. Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery.

Tim Tyler
Tim Tyler, 67, of Holton passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at his home. He was born in Cincinnati on November 30, 1944 the son of Robert and Zora Johnson Tyler. He was married to Judy Roth on January 9, 1965 and she preceded him in death on January 25, 2012.
Survivors include two sons, Jessey and Jamie Tyler both of Holton; daughters, Regina Ritchie of Holton and Tiffani (Ken) Campbell of Terre Haute; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Tom (Shirley) and Kent Tyler both of North Vernon, Chris (Nancy) Tyler of Holton, and Jesse (Ann) Tyler of Kuna, Idaho; one sister Betty Jones of Cincinnati. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Natalie, his sisters Mary Ward, Cloye Waller, and Martha Bush, and his brothers Ceburn, Preston, and Robert Tyler.
Mr. Tyler was a former employee of General Drilling in Fishers and also Tandy Trucking in Madison. He had served for three years in the National Guard. In 2000 Tim received his pilot's license and later built and flew his own ultra light plane.
Tim was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Ceburn Tyler and Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Holton West Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Holton West Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Allan Wayne Beach, 71, of Butlerville, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at the St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 11, at 2 p.m. at the Dove - Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial was in the Otter Creek Cemetery.

George Leslie Geisler
George Leslie Geisler, 76, of Versailles passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born in Jefferson County, on May 2, 1936 the son of Alva and Doris Faye Housefield Geisler.
Survivors include two sons Terry Geisler and Jerry Geisler both of Madison; one daughter Kathy Emery of Madison; ten grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; five brothers Elvan (Barbara), Bernard (Debbie), and Roy Geisler all of Rexville, Marvin Geisler of Vevay, and Bobby (Agnes) Geisler of Washington; one sister Nancy Simmons of Rexville.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Geisler was a 1955 graduate of New Marion High School and was employed with Reliance Electric for 37 years. Leslie was a member of the West Fork Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home. Burial will be in the West Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Mildred Jordan Schutte
Mildred Jordan Schutte, 89 of Cincinnati and formerly of Milan, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday June 10, 2012. Mildred was born Saturday January 27, 1923 in Milan the daughter of Henry and Elise (Oswald) Jordan. She married Clifford F. Schutte in August of 1945, and he preceded her in death.
Mildred was a retired employee of the Cincinnati office of the Internal Revenue Service. She had also worked as a secretary for Fries Brothers Co. and the Hope Lutheran Church of which she was a member. She had served as a volunteer for the Women's Auxiliary at Mercy Franciscan Hospital at Mt. Airy. Mildred had played organized softball and loved tennis and gardening.
Mildred is survived by daughters Karen ( Michael) Schweinfest of Cincinnati and Connie (Ralph) Terbrueggen of Fairfield, daughter-in-law Nancy Schutte of Sedalia, Missouri, brother Walter Jordan of Milan, grandchildren Aaron (Shannen) Merrick, Jordan (Brooke Goodloe) Schutte, Josh (Holli) Schutte, Alyson and Evan Schweinfest, Joseph, Emily, and Hannah Terbrueggen, Greatgrandchildren Caden, Cohen, Camren, Merrick, Bregan and Denlee Schutte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford, son Dennis Schutte, brothers Elmer and Harry Jordan and sisters Margaret Kinnett and Dorothy Jordan.

Dianne Sue Linkmeyer, 68, of Batesville, IN passed away on June 8, 2012. She was born on February 4, 1944, in Batesville, the daughter of Lester Crowell and N. Francis Whisman Crowell.
Dianne was a 1962 Jac-Cen-Del High School Graduate. She married Roger R. Linkmeyer on February 14, 1971. She was a homemaker, and retired from K-Mart after 18 years of service. She belonged to the St. John's Lutheran Church and the Church's WELCA group of Napoleon.
Survivors include: husband- Roger Linkmeyer; daughter Teresa (Yancey) Smiley; sons Roger (Annette) Linkmeyer, II and Matthew (Shawne) Linkmeyer; grandchildren Craig Giddings, Brent Giddings, Lauren Smiley, Amber (Jason) Matlock, Kimberly, Jennifer, Zachary, Justin, Alexis, and Conner Linkmeyer; great granddaughter- Melina; brothers Eugene (Shirley) Crowell, Stephen (Judi) Crowell and sister- Sandra (Glen) Comer. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Howard Smith
Howard L. Smith, 92, of Milan passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Waters of Batesville. He was born near Benham on February 19, 1920 the son of Martin and Pearl Kelly Smith. He was married to Edna Meyer on June 21, 1941 and his wife of 70 years survives.
Other survivors include three sons Howard (Marlene) Smith, Jr. of Harrison, Ohio, Jerry (Shirley) Smith of Milan, and Larry (Ileene) Smith of Monroe, Michigan; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughters Amanda Smith and Heather Smith, and his brothers Robert, Alvin, Edwin, and Gilbert Smith.
Mr. Smith was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dewberry on May 21, 1933 and was a life long member. He was employed with Prebble Construction and was also a self-employed carpenter. Howard enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dewberry with Pastor Ralph Campen and Pastor Garry Wickert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Phyllis S. Kicninger
Phyllis S. Kieninger, age 69, of Friendship, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Phyllis was born June 5, 1942 in Milan, to Cline and Edith Kieninger and graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1960.
She was employed for many years as a child advocate for the Juvenile Detention Center in Dearborn County and truly loved children and young people. Phyllis was a long time member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat. Phyllis enjoyed sitting on her porch and watching people and visiting with everyone. Her cat was a very special friend, and she spent many hours being a 'mother' to her cat.
Even though Phyllis was never married and had children of her own, she has a very special extended family who considers her one of their own - Mike and Sue McMullen, Daryl and LeeAnn Fox, and John and Susan Klimczewski and their families. Phyllis was a very big part of their families.
She also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many many friends who will miss her greatly.
It was Phyllis's wishes that she be cremated and no formal funeral services be held. Her request is being honored, and it is suggested that if a memorial donation is made, please consider the Friendship Fire Department. Arrangements have been entrusted to Phyllis's friends, DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.

Sondra N. Strezeski
Sondra N. Strezeski, 62, of Milan, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012. She was born October 31, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Margaret (Staton) House. She married Robert Lee Baston Jr. and later married Paul Strezeski, both of whom preceded her in death. She was an outpatient registrar for Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Sondra is survived by sons, Robert Baston and Joseph (Brandi) Baston both of Milan, and daughter, Jennifer Corrieri of Hewitt, New Jersey, brother Ronald House of Cincinnati, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 6, 11 a.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Rev. Charles Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Vine Street Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati. Visitation will also be Wednesday 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Pauline DeBurger Turner
Pauline DeBurger Turner, 85, of Versailles passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was born near Versailles on March 26, 1927 the daughter of Otis and Flora Kuhn DeBurger. She was married to Orlester King and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1968. She was then married to George Turner and he preceded her in death on March 5, 1981.
Survivors include three sons, Larry (Beverly) King and Danny "Joe" King both of Versailles, and George Turner of Bloomington; two daughters, Tara (Ken) Benefiel of Burton, Kansas and Cheri (Rick) Burcham of Newtown, Ohio; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda King of Seymour; brother, Paul (Sandy) DeBurger of Brownstown. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Wayne King, her grandson Jeff King, and her sister Bea Littell.
Mrs. Turner was a former employee of the Delaney Wood Heel Factory in Versailles and had also worked as a cashier at the Spencer-Tyson Drug Store in Versailles, retiring in 1990. Pauline was a member of the Shelby Christian Church and the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Rick Burcham officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Brenda Sue Walker
Brenda Sue Walker, 56, of Versailles, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at her home. She was born in Columbus, Indiana on June 26, 1955 the daughter of Herman and Betty Heck Wilson. She was married to Terry Walker on January 25, 1977 and he survives.
Other survivors include one daughter Brooke (Josh) Burkman of Versailles; grandchildren Evan, Avery, Bayla, and Max; two brothers Gene (Bev) Wilson of Columbus and Gary Wilson of Seymour; five sisters Caolyne Harden, Sharon (Larry) Kelley, Barbara Shouse, Connie (Jody) Ballard all of Columbus, and Wanda Fritz of Kokomo; her mother and father-in-law Chester and June Walker of Versailles; sister-in-law Pam (Chris) Kohlmeier of Milan; brothers-in-law Jerry (Debbie), Tom, and Tony Walker all of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jimmy Wilson.
Mrs. Walker was a 1974 graduate of Columbus East High School and was an 18-year employee with UPS in Versailles. Brenda was a member of the New Testament Christian Church in Osgood.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 3 p.m. at the New Testament Christian Church in Osgood with Irvin Hart officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services. Barbara Young
Barbara Young, 81, of Osgood, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born at Hatzfeld, Romania on May 23, 1931, the daughter of Josef and Barbara Reichardt Ludwig.
Survivors include one son, Ben (Susan) Young of Osgood; grandchildren, Benjamin (Tiffany) Young, Bridgett (Matthew) Miller, and Linda Young all of Osgood; great grandchildren, Benjamin Young IV, Boden Young, Isabella and Dixie Cox; and one brother, Josef (Marie) Ludwig of Cincinnati.
Mrs. Young along with her parents immigrated to America from Romania in 1950, settling in Cincinnati. In 1952 they purchased a farm in the Tanglewood neighborhood and Barbara worked with her father on this farm until his death in 1993.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 7 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, with Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
