2011 ORVC Boys Basketball Jamboree is held at South Ripley HS

ORVC conference varsity basketball teams gave fans a prospective look at the players and their possible potential for the season ahead during the exhibition jamboree, held at South Ripley High School on Saturday, November 19.
SR vs Shawe
As host, the South Ripley Raiders competed in the opener against the Shawe Hilltoppers. Continuing as the head coach of the South Ripley Raiders is Travis Wrightsman, with Shawe finding a new man in the lead, coach Matt Traylor.
Shawe pulled off a quarter ending basket to capture a score of 12-11 over the Raiders by period's end.
Shawe vs JCD
Shawe then moved on to compete for a quarter against the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles. The Eagles continue to find veteran coach David Bradshaw in the lead.
The period's action proceeded to a Eagle 12-11 edge over the Hilltoppers.
JCD vs Switz. Co.
Coach BJ McAlister continues in the lead spot for the Pacers. Action for the period resulted in a SC 16-8 final score in their debut.
Switz. Co. vs Milan
The Indians return to roundball action on the hardwood heeding the instruction of head coach Josh Blankinship.
Many of Blankinship's players are also on the Indian football team, and with a positive football season encountering extended season action, they were restricted on the amount of time they have had to prepare compared to the other six teams in the conference.
However, in spite of it, the Indians handily out scored the SC Pacers 19-12 by quarter's end.
Milan vs Rising Sun
In their second quarter of action, the tribe faced RS behind returning Shiner head coach Jason McDaniel.
The end result of the quarter of play found Milan in the lead 13-10.
RS vs Sw Hanover
The Southwestern Hanover Rebels hit the court this season behind coach Andy Firth.
The Rebels fell short of the mark vs the Shiners by period's end, 8-13.
SwH vs SR
The Rebels trailed the Raiders through the most of the quarters battle. However they clinched a 13-11 lead just seconds before the horn sounded to end the action.
A buzzer beater, just as it should be to get the season off on the right foot, as Raider Austin Halcomb connected to knot the score at 13.
All that remains now is tons of popcorn to be eaten, gallons of pop to down and multiple miles to be traveled that we may determine who will be this year's boys basketball champion!
