The Jac-Cen-Del School Board
adopted the proposed balanced calendar for the 2012-2013 year
at their November meeting.
The motion was made by board member Paul Hardy and seconded
by board member John Billman. The motion was unanimously approved
and the school will adopt the balanced calendar for the next

An update on the transition of the sixth grade to the middle
school was given during the meeting. During the month of November,
the sixth grade students visited the middle school three times
a week for lunch. In December, the students will be in the middle
school all five days for lunch, as well as spending some time
in the building to work on lockers and spend time in the classroom.

Superintendent Bill Narwold presented the I Caught
You award to Patricia Simon for her excellent work at
the elementary school.
Elementary school principal Dr. Leanna Phillippe presented
a Growth Report to the board and explained the results.
Superintendent Narwold recognized the high school Spell
Bowl team that participated in the state meet. The team placed
fourth in the competition.
Superintendent Narwold reported the transportation department
recently accepted delivery of two new 72-passenger buses.
The board approved to hire Nicholas Yatsko and Justin
Rowland to co-coach wrestling.
The board approved to increase the pay for substitute
teachers from $65.00 to $70 a day beginning January 1, 2012.
The board approved the Authorized Staff and Pay Scales
for JCD Schools Educational Support Staff for 2012 as
presented.
Approval was given for Gail Moser to teach for math remediation
and Kyle Degler for English remediation at the middle/high schools.
The board unanimously agreed to support the administration
guidelines for staff dress and grooming as presented.
The board approved the cost of drivers education
for 2012 to be $385 per student which is the same cost as 2011.
The board accepted a grant from the Ripley County Community
Foundation in the amount of $800 for the National Center for
College Costs Presentation.
The meeting adjourned with all board members present.
The next regular session of the JCD School Board is set for
Wednesday, December 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Jac-Cen-Del/Middle/High
School Cafeteria.
