When the fall winds blow you know it's time to
change the clocks back one hour. That will officially take place
this Sunday, November 6 at 2 a.m. So before you go to bed just
set your clock back and enjoy the extra hour of sleep in the
morning.
Also at this time, local firemen encourage everyone to check
their smoke detectors. Make sure the batteries are working properly
before the winter season begins when fires are more prominent.
Property
taxes are due Nov. 10
Ripley County Treasurer Earline Copeland reminds
property taxpayers that their taxes are due November 10 for
the fall installment.
To help serve the public, the treasurer's office will have
extended hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 7,
Wednesday, November 9, and Thursday, November 10.
The courthouse will be closed November 8 for the General Election
and November 11 for Veterans Day.
For taxpayers who will be mailing their payments, please make
sure the post office postmarks the envelope with November
10 so it can be counted as "on time" payments. Payments
may also be put in the drop box located on the east side of
the courthouse on the square in Versailles. Please do not
put cash in the box.
