Kari Moore, 23, of Versailles, has joined
the staff at Ripley Publishing Co. as a staff writer.
Moore graduated Cum Laude in 2010 from Mississippi State University,
Starkville, MS, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with
a focus in Public Relations. She attended the Baptist Student
Union, was a member of the Public Relations Student Society
of America, and Lambda Pi Eta Communication Studies Honor Society.
She also holds a degree from Ivy Tech Community College in General
Studies with a focus in Communications, where she graduated
Magna Cum Laude. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Moore graduated in 2006 from South Ripley High School where
she was active in many clubs and a member of the flag corp and
band.
A member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, Moore enjoys community
events and is especially interested in sports. I grew
up taking vacations with my dad and brother to Canada where
lunch was what we caught that morning, she laughed. Her
grandfather, Leon Moore, used to enjoy racing at Osgood and
Moore shares his love of the sport. Her grandmother is the late
Betty Moore.
She is the daughter of Denny Moore of Eckerty, IN, and Tammy
Moore of Versailles. She has two siblings, Danny Moore and wife,
Janel and daughters: Taneil, Makayla, Kristen of Casper, Wyoming,
and Kristi Moore of Palm Bay, Florida. Her maternal grandparents
are Ivan and Doris Allen, who owned and operated The Country
Bait House in Versailles for many years.
Moore enjoys community events and is very interested in how
the government works. She enjoys covering the town and school
board meetings to see first hand how things are operated. She
has covered court news, feature stories and government meetings
since joining the team at Ripley Publishing Co. on August 9.
She is also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
"Kari is a talented writer who is eager to bring new and
interesting articles to our readers. I am excited to have her
join our staff," stated Linda Chandler, publisher of the
Osgood Journal and The Versailles Republican.
Before coming to Ripley Publishing, Moore worked a variety of
jobs, usually in-between school or college classes. She worked
at Spencer Tyson Pharmacy during her senior year in high school,
Knee-High Cooperative Daycare in Bloomington, Purdue Extension
in Ripley County, Barbara B. Jordan YMCA Before and After School
Program in Martinsville, Kings Daughters Hospital,
Madison and Mississippi State University library.
