Five people found dead near Metamora

According to information from Sergeant Jerry Goodin with the Indiana State Police, five people were found dead in Franklin County on Sunday, September 25.

Police responded to a call after a Good Samaritan found a child wondering around in the roadway near Stipps Hill Road near Laurel. They called police and stayed with the child until authorities could arrive to check out the situation.

What they found were the bodies of four people, two male and two female, at an address on Stipps Road. They also found the body of another male at another location on Stipps Road.

As of press time ISP Crime Scene Investigators, along with detectives from the Indiana State Police Post at Versailles and officers from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department were trying to determine exactly what happened. They say it is unknown if there was one or multiple shooters involved. It was also not known if the shooter or shooters was among those deceased.

Autopsies were being performed on Monday, September 26 in Indianapolis.

In the meantime, police cautioned neighbors in that area to be careful when answering their doors and to report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911.
