Versailles Pumpkin Show Schedule
WEDNESDAY:
DISCOUNT RIDE NIGHT
Rides Open 5:00 p.m.
On Wednesday Luehrs Entertainment and the Versailles Lions
Club have discounted the rides as a gift to the families enjoying
the 109th Pumpkin Show. All rides will only be one ticket.
Reduced ride tickets will again be made available to students
at area schools. The reduced rate is $12.00 for 16 tickets.
The tickets can be used during the entire show.
In addition to South Ripley, Jac-Cen-Del and Milan Schools, tickets
will be available at Ripley Publishing Company, Versailles Super
Market, Friendship State Bank and MainSource Bank in Versailles
and also Whitewater Motor Company in Milan.
No advance tickets will be sold after 5 p.m. on Thursday.
OPENING CEREMONIES
5:00 p.m.
The Versailles Pumpkin Show will be opened with the National Anthem
and an opening prayer. Amusement rides open.

The annual King & Queen Contest will begin at 7:30 p.m. Contestants
are from high schools in the area. Each school selects one senior
girl and one senior boy in a manner of its own choosing.

Show Princess Contest and the 25th annual Prince Contest Thursday
night at 7:00 p.m.

Show Baking Contest Results
Following Princess & Prince Contest
Immediately following the Princess & Prince Contest, Linda
Chandler, publisher of The Versailles Republican and Osgood Journal,
will announce the winners of 23rd Annual Pumpkin Show Baking Contest.
Pumpkin baked goods will be placed in four different categories,
pumpkin pies, cakes and pumpkin rolls, breads and miscellaneous
pumpkin goodies. There will also be a separate contest for kids
to enter.

SATURDAY:
ATTENTION PUMPKIN GROWERS
The Versailles Pumpkin Show pumpkin weigh-in for 2011 will take
place this year at Gilpins Monuments starting on Saturday,
September 24 at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 a.m. Gilpins
Monuments is located one block south of the stoplight in Versailles
on U.S. 421. Then all pumpkins will be put at the end of the parade
and the winners will be announced after the parade on the stage.
Rides Open 9:00 a.m.
PARADE
10:30 a.m.
The parade will begin on Tyson Street near the old Tyson School
building. The route will turn left on Water Street, turn right
on Washington, then turn left at the Versailles Baptist Church
and continue as usual. Entries can be made by appearing on Saturday
morning and picking up an entry card at parade headquarters by
the Tyson United Methodist Church. There will be no parking along
the parade route after 2:00 a.m. For more information call 689-6524.
The parade will be emceed by Linda Chandler and Wanda Burnett.

KIDS PUMPKIN DECORATING
& FACE PAINTING

The Versailles Lions Club will be offering a FREE pumpkin decorating
opportunity and face painting for children in grades 1-4 on Saturday,
September 24 beginning at 12:30 p.m. near the stage. The Tyson
Library Teens will be assisting the children and each pumpkin
decorated can be taken home by the participant.
GIANT PUMPKIN WINNERS
& AWARDS PRESENTED

Pedal Tractor Pull & Race
2:00 p.m. (Registration 1:30 p.m.)
North of Stage
The kids pedal tractor pull will begin at 2 p.m. near the
stage. Age groups will be 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. The categories
for the pedal tractor race will be 13-15 and 16-19. There will
also be a race for adult women and adult men.

2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
CHEERLEADING CONTEST
4:30 p.m.
The Versailles Lions Club and Napoleon State Bank are sponsoring
the 12th Annual Versailles Pumpkin Show Cheerleading Competition.
The competition will be held at 4:30 p.m. in front of the stage.
Each squad will be performing a four-minute routine consisting
of cheers, chants and dance. They will be judged by judges outside
of the area.
