A benefit to raise money for Rodney McEvoy and his cousin, Kayla Gotts, who are both battling cancer, was a huge success at the Holton Community Center on Saturday, August 20. Pictured at left, Jamen Bowles, 6, son of Jodi Moore of Holton, enjoyed getting his face painted by artist Alex Barrett. Pictured below Kayla Gotts, pictured front and center, was surrounded by friends. Back row from left: Dalton Speer, Daniel Smith, Keegan York and Nick Wright. Pictured in front with her are: Hunter Stanko left, and Wendy Heilman, right. Kayla is a sophomore at Jennings County High School this fall. She said she couldn't believe all the love and support everyone has shown her since she was diagnosed. The event boasted numerous silent auction items, big ticket raffle items, cake walks (one lady made 25 cakes) and much more. Live music was provided by Rhythm and Groove, Sandy Pickett, and Jill McIntosh.
