Last Friday, March 4 around 2:43 a.m. police responded to an abandoned residence located at 4506 East County Road 200 North to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked there.

Upon further investigation, Detective Abe Hildebrand with the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, said there were three men in the process of removing items from Dave’s Auto Salvage. They are reported to have removed several automotive radiators from the scrap yard, and were taking them back to the parked truck.

After officers obtained a search warrant for the truck, they discovered a large amount of copper wire inside. They would later determine that the wire had also been stolen earlier that same night from a residence in Dearborn County.

Kraig W. King, 18 of Lawrenceburg, and Shane Mosier, 19 of Moores Hill, were taken into custody that night and incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail. The third suspect fled from the area.

The incident is still under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office. Officers from the Milan Police Department also responded to the scene.
