Marine Cpl. Bishop remembered

Hundreds gathered at a prestigious memorial service held at the Goettge Field House, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, for Marines who were killed in Afghanistan from August 27, 2010 to January 7, 2011 in the 2d Battalion, 9th Marines. Corporal John C. Bishop, Versailles, was among the 15 men who were remembered at the service on Monday, February 28. Pictured are Cpl. Bishop's mother, left, Sarah Thomas, Columbus, with her grandson, K-Sean, Cpl. Bishop's wife, Marine Crystal Bishop, who was flanked by her Marine brothers, who were with her husband at the time of his death, and K-Sean's mother, Evonee Rohwer, right. The group surrounded a large portrait of their loved one, complete with the helmet, weapon and boots memorial. Each of the 15 were honored with their portraits and memorials as it spread across the auditorium floor. Hundreds of Marines and families attended the event.
