Jac-Cen-Del Eagle varsity boys secure a pair of late season conference wins on the road

Gary Franklin, Sports Writer

In leading up to the regular season finale where rival JCD and South Ripley butt heads for the regular season wrap, the Eagles have claimed a pair of road wins.
Eagles vs Shiners
JCD traveled to Rising Sun High School, where they contested the Shiners to a varsity 15 point victory, 64-49, by game's end
The Eagles enjoyed a narrow one point lead at the end of the first period at 16-15, however, second period action left them wondering what had hit them as they left the court for the half time break trailing by seven, 25-32,
A much stronger defensive effort by the Eagles, a pair of long distance 3-pointers by senior Eagle Joe Abplanalp and three senior Trevor Arnett FG's in the third period left a totally different look to the game as the period ended with JCD on top by 16 at 50-34.
Though the Shiners managed to out score the Eagles 15-14 in the fourth period, it was much too little, much too late, allowing JCD to finish on the job as the 15 point victor at 64-49.

The Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers face the Rising Sun Shiners in the opener. The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles battle the Oldenburg Academy Twisters in their first round battle with the winner earning a spot in the championship battle. The hosting South Decatur Cougars play the winner of the opening Shawe vs Rising Sun contest with the winner earning the remaining spot in a battle for the sectional championship and an extended season in regional action.
