Trooper Clifton Elston of the Indiana
State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division was
injured last week in a crash on I-74 in Ripley County. Tpr.
Elston was just west of the Batesville exit when he was
hit from behind by a 2011 Nissan (pictured above) driven
by Deeana Y. White, 31, of Largo, FL. The trooper said he
had just entered I-74 a few seconds earlier from the Batesville
interchange and was traveling about 45-50 mph when he was
struck in the rear. He was taken to Margaret Mary Community
Hospital, Batesville where he was treated and released for
a bump on his head and minor abrasions. Elston has been
with the ISP since December 2007. White was not injured
in the crash, which remains under investigation. Elston
was seriously injured last year in a crash on US 421 near
Versailles.
