Year's Eve crash claims life of Osgood man

Bart E. Sayler,
54, of Osgood, lost his life in a single vehicle crash New Year’s
Eve night, according to information from the Ripley County Sheriff’s
Office.
Police say Sayler was southbound on Delaware Road about 10:22 p.m.
when for unknown reasons his vehicle left the right side of the
roadway and struck several trees head on.
Sgt. Marvin Smith was at the accident and noted according to evidence
at the scene Sayler was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from
the vehicle. Police also note that evidence at the scene suggested
alcohol could have been a factor in the crash.
Sayler was taken to Margaret Mary Community Hospital by Rescue 10
where he died.
According to Sgt. Smith the cause of the accident is still under
investigation. He was assisted by Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies,
the Batesville Police Department, Batesville Rescue 10, Batesville
Fire, Ripley County Paramedics, Indiana State Police and the Ripley
County Deputy Coroner. |
