On Sunday, December 26 a woman came to the Versailles Post of the Indiana State Police reporting she had been kidnapped and robbed.

According to information from Sgt. Noel Houze, the 53-year-old woman from Versailles spoke with Trooper Joe Prather. She said about 12:30 she was eastbound on US 50 and was getting ready to turn north onto State Road 129. She said as she was stopped waiting for westbound traffic to clear the intersection, a light skinned, black male wearing dark clothing entered her vehicle on the passenger side.

The woman, who police have not identified, said the male told her he had a gun and forced her to drive into the Cincinnati area on US 50 where he had her stop and let him out.

The victim said the suspect stole approximately $200 from her purse during the ordeal. She was not harmed.

Anyone who may have been driving in the area of US 50 and SR 129 about 12:30 Sunday afternoon who may have seen anything is asked to contact the Indiana State Police at 812-689-5000 or 800-566-6704.

Police urge motorists to be alert at all times for pedestrians near areas where you have to stop your vehicle. Motorists are also cautioned to keep their doors locked at all times.
