The generosity of Jac-Cen-Del School Corporation staff and
students were acknowledged at the regular board meeting held on
Wednesday, December 15.
According to high school principal Johnny Budd, the high school
students and clubs collected food and clothing to donate to the
Angels of Giving program. Superintendent Bill Narwold noted that
food boxes were provided and delivered to 25 families at Thanksgiving
due to the efforts of the elementary staff and students.
The students of the advanced history and English classes will collaborate
on a project to produce a DVD about the 50-year history of Jac-Cen-Del.
These classes, taught by Ernie Ruble and Jennifer Prince, are in
cooperation with Vincennes University and will provide the students
with dual credits.
The project, scheduled to begin second semester, brought the need
for netbooks to be used by the students due to scheduling conflicts
with the computer lab. The board will consider the request to purchase
these computers.
Narwold noted that the Class of 1961 was the first graduating class
from JCD and recognition will be made at graduation.
In personnel, the recommendation to approve the employment of Debbie
Carroll from part-time instructional aide to full-time instructional
aide was unanimously approved. The board approved the employment
of Tammy Shaw from part-time to full-time teacher. Both recommendations
are effective January 4.
In other business:
The board approved the rate of 51 cents per mile reimbursement
for the use of private vehicles for business travel effective January
1.
The appropriation of $3,277.41 from the rainy day fund for
severance and retirement obligations was approved.
All board members were in attendance. The next meeting will be on
Wednesday, January 19 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the elementary school
library. |
