The Southeastern Career Center Board of Managers considered a feasibility study presented by Jerry Firestone, Triangle Design, at the regular meeting on Wednesday, December 8. According to Firestone, some of the areas of concern include the building envelope as well as the HVAC and electrical systems upgrades.

Firestone noted that much of the building is original to its construction in 1966. He explained that the windows need to be replaced as they let out much of the heating and cooling of the building.

The board also addressed how the proposed project would be financed. It was agreed that a financial report be included with the feasibility study. The board unanimously approved the feasibility study at a cost of $6500.

In other business, the board unanimously approved the adult ed contracts through January. The disposal of surplus property police was approved. The request to offer a contract to the welding instructor after interviews was approved.

The board approved the request to post the assistant director position on the state department of education website. The board also approved a one-time 1% stipend for non-certified personnel effective in December with a vote of seven for and three against including Jac-Cen-Del Superintendent Bill Narwold; Southwestern School Corporation Superintendent Steve Telfer and Madison School Corporation Superintendent Dr. Thomas Patterson.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Southeastern Career Center, Versailles.
