Mary Ann Vincent Green
Mary Ann Vincent Green, 80, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Hooverwood Nursing Home, Indianapolis. She was born on June 3, 1930 in Madison, the daughter of Thomas and Lottie Vincent. She married Raymond L. Green on September 2, 1950 and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2000.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond Thomas "R.T." (Susan) Green of Fort Wayne, Steven Michael D.D.S. (Lana) Green of Indianapolis; Bruce Jeffrey (Pam) Green of Warsaw; seven grandchildren, Collin (Marie) and Vincent Green, Jessica, Casey and Michael Green, and Kelsey and Harrison Green. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant sister Betty Jean Vincent, and sister Helen Louise Vincent Voorhies.
Mrs. Green was raised in Madison and was a 1948 graduate of Madison High School. She studied at the University of Cincinnati and earned her bachelors degree in education at Indiana University Southeast in 1970. She earned her masters degree at Indiana University in Bloomington.
Mrs. Green taught several Indiana school systems including South Ripley Schools. She was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis and attended the First Baptist Church in Madison where she was a member as well. She was a member of the Indiana Retired Teacher’s Association and past member of the Tri-Kappa Sorority.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 29, at the First Baptist Church, Madison with Rev. Jon Carlstrom officiating. Burial was in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, KY. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, cards are available at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, who was in charge of arrangements.

James E. Fritsch
James E. Fritsch, 71, of Sunman, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 at his home. He was born September 21, 1939 in the St. Pius Community, the son of John and Helen Federle Fritsch. He married Jenny K. Osburn on February 13, 1960, at the St. Nicholas Church and she survives.
Other survivors include daughters Kelli (Lee) Arnold of New Castle and Marti (Bob) Tracy of Batesville; son Michael (Cris) Fritsch of Sunman; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and sister Mary Hartman of Sunman. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Mr. Fritsch retired from Monsanto Chemical Company, after 34 years of service. He had served in the US Army Reserve and was a member of the St. Nicholas Church.
Funeral mass is being held today, Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church with Rev. Frank Eckstein officiating. Memorials may be given to the St. Nicholas Church or the Good Samaritan Hospital Oncology Department. Cook Funeral Home, Sunman, is in charge of arrangements.

Skeen

Marilyn June Skeen, 72, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at her residence. She was born on September 18, 1938 in Hancock County, the daughter of Vincent and Wanita (Jacobs) Rodgers. She married Ronald Skeen on January 17, 1955 and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1988.
Survivors include daughters, Phyllis (Gary) Wilson of Cicero, LuAnn Gross of Milan and Mary (Kevin) Hinkle of Aurora; brothers, Teddy Rodgers of Dillsboro and David Rodgers of Madison; sisters, Ruth Ann Powell and Thelma Craigmile, both of Versailles, and Linda Cunningham of Aurora; and two grandchildren, Eric Gross and Tyler Hinkle. She was preceded in death by brother Andrew Rodgers and sister Myrtle Sue Rodgers.
Mrs. Skeen was employed with the US Shoe Co. in Osgood and McPhearson’s in Sunman. She attended the Pierceville United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 27, at the Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial was in the New Craven Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Dearborn County Hospice. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan was in charge of arrangements.

Hazel B. Engle, 84, of Sunman, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 1, at 11 a.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Sunman with visitation being held today, Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday. Juanita A. Hill

Juanita A. Hill, age 81, of Dillsboro, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born in Bear Branch on June 21, 1929, the daughter of Henry Sommer and Adelia (Longcamp) Sommer. She was married to Leonard L. Hill, and he preceded her in death in 1991.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth (Inia) Hill of Osgood; one daughter, Nancy Hill of Aurora; special granddaughter, Jennifer Lowe, and her friend Josh Lowe; three more grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Esther Dennis, and one brother, Alfred Sommer.
Mrs. Hill was a homemaker, and a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church at Bellaire. She volunteered at the Dearborn Adult Center, and was an active member of the Dillsboro Civic Club.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 29, at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro, with Pastor Charles Hill officiating. Burial was at the Althoff Cemetery in Bear Branch. Howard W. Sarringhaus, 95, of Batesville, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at The Waters of Batesville. He was born March 20, 1915, in Ripley County, the son of Henry and Emma (Camesasca) Sarringhaus. He married Edna Wirth on August 23, 1941 and she preceded him in death on August 7, 1980.
Survivors include sons, Larry (Bertha) and Gayle (LaVonne) Sarringhaus, both of Batesville; and daughters, Darlene (Ritchie) Pettit of Attica, Dian (Ronald) Krummy of Crothersville, and Peggy (Blair) Shinn of Batesville; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two grandchildren; brothers Leroy, Harvey, Gilbert and Elmer Sarringhaus; and sisters Elenora Fruchtnicht, Mary Sarringhaus and Clara Klingworth.
Funeral services were held were held Saturday, November 27 at St. John Lutheran Church in Napoleon with Pastor Gary Groth officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Raymond "George" Young, Jr.
Raymond "George" Young, Jr., 59, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, November 19, 2010 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born to the parents of Raymond B. and Helen Louise Hoover Young.
Survivors include his father, Raymond B. Young, Sr. and special friend Lilly Johnson of Osgood, one son, Ryan Young of Terre Haute, two daughters, Amanda and Karmen Young of Terre Haute, one brother, David Young of Greensburg, two sisters, Karen and husband Eugene Kunz of Osgood and Deborah Dean of Osgood, and four grandchildren.
Mr. Young was an Army veteran. He also had attended the Church of Christ in Versailles. In 1975 he graduated from MP School and in 1981 received a bachelor of science degree from Indiana State University. He had worked as a correctional officer at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in the St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Napoleon. Memorials may be given to the family.

Alex Barnhart

Jesse Alex Barnhart, 23, of Milan, passed away Friday, November 19, 2010 at his home near Milan. He was born August 26, 1987 in Denver, CO the son of Jay and Sue (Phillips) Barnhart, both of Milan.
Survivors include one brother, Cody Barnhart, a student at Ball State University, one sister, Kimberlee Barnhart of Houston, TX and maternal grandmother, Marcia Phillips of Janesville, WI.
Mr. Barnhart worked at Jeff Thomas Catering in Cincinnati, OH. He served in the Indiana National Guard in Madison before being honorably discharged serving one tour in Iraq with the 152nd Calvary. He was a 2006 Milan High School graduate.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, is serving the family.

Terence Lane Adams, 49, of Osgood, passed away Friday, November 19, 2010 at his home. He was born June 22, 1961 in Beechgrove the son of Carl Ray and Margaret Eudora Bratten Adams.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Adams of Osgood; one brother, Bryan "Keith" Adams of Osgood; one sister, Carla Raylene LaFollette of Osgood; one niece, Stacy Sams of Osgood, and great niece and nephew, Olivia and Cody Sams.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Adams on August 20, 2006 and one brother, Kurt Adams in 1957.
Visitation was held Tuesday, November 23 from 3-7 p.m. at New Testament Christian Church in Osgood. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. at the church.
Memorials may go to the American Heart or Cancer Association or the Ripley County Humane Society.

James B. "Jim" Koehler, 71, of Madison, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. James Rutherford

James Rutherford, 88, of Austin, TX, formerly of Osgood, passed away Friday, November 19, 2010.
Jim worked as a clerk in the Osgood Post Office until his retirement. After his retirement he worked at several other places around Ripley County. During WWII he served in the Army Air Corps as a tail gunner on a B-24 aircraft and was injured by flak fire over Weiner, Germany in 1943. He received the Air Medal, Silver Star and Purple Heart for his service.
Before moving to Texas, he was a member of the Osgood Methodist Church, Osgood Lodge #603 F&AM, Valley of Indianapolis Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and the Osgood Lions Club. When he moved to Austin, TX in 1999 he became a member of Hill City Lodge #456 F&AM, the Greater South Austin Kiwanis and Faith United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, (James) Walter Rutherford and Nora (Starks) Rutherford of Sandusky, brother, Cloyd Rutherford and sister Doris (Rutherford) Frensemeier, wives Virginia (Bean) Rutherford and Kathryn (Braley) Rutherford. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Rutherford of Austin, TX, step children Kathy (Tom) Caplinger of Shelbyville, John (Melinda) Braley of Versailles, Chris Braley of Madison, and Tena (Moody) Crews of Lexington, SC, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 22 in the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Chapel.
On Friday, November 26, a visitation will be held at Neal’s Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. There will also be Masonic services.
Saturday morning, November 27, at 10 a.m. there will be graveside services only at Greendale Cemetery near Osgood. There will also be military graveside services by the Osgood American Legion and the Napoleon VFW. Arrangements are being handled by Neal’s Funeral Home.

Cheryl Izora Howell, 64, of Milan, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born August 12, 1946, in Milan, the daughter of Merrill and Julia (Morrison) Howell.
Survivors include sister Marilyn Reynolds of Milan; niece Lisa (Lonnie) Clymer of North Vernon; nephew Paul Reynolds, Jr. of Milan; great niece MaKayla Stallard of North Vernon; great nephew James Reynolds of Milan; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Merrill; and brother-in-law Paul Reynolds, Sr.; and niece, Missy Reynolds.
Ms. Howell worked at New Horizons Rehabilitation Center for 33 years in Batesville. She was a member of the Milan Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 14, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, with Pastor Jack Bible officiating. Burial was in the Stringtown Cemetery in Milan. Schwanholt

Walter H. Schwanholt, 91, of Cross Plains passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Ross Manor in Dillsboro. He was born near Cross Plains on November 16, 1918, the son of John and Alma Steingruber Schwanholt. He was married to Irene Neahousmeyer on September 1, 1945 and she preceded him in death on January 24, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (Danny) Wehmeyer of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Mary Kathryn (C. B. "Bing") Dickerson of Florence; grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Schott of McDonough, GA and Joe Wehmeyer of Culver City, CA; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Hayden Schott; one brother, Victor Schwanholt of Versailles; and one sister, Meta Thieman of Cross Plains. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother Edward Schwanholt.
Mr. Schwanholt spent his entire life in the Cross Plains and Dewberry communities. He attended the Dewberry School and was a life member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dewberry where he was confirmed on May 21, 1933. He was a farmer, and had been employed with Halcombs, Grote Manufacturing, and was employed with the Indiana Highway Department in the Seymour and Aurora districts.
Mr. Schwanholt was also a licensed TV and radio repairman and had run a shop in Vevay and also from his home for several years.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dewberry with Pastor Ralph Campen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Lutheran Hour or St. Paul’s Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Clinton T. Day
Clinton T. Day, 57, of Versailles, passed away Monday, November 8, 2010, at his home. He was born at Milan on April 16, 1953, the son of Harlan and Effie Jones Day.
Survivors include his twin brother, Clayton of Versailles; brother, Norman (Brenda) Day of Osgood; sister, Becky (Jerry) Hunteman of North Vernon; uncles, Dale (LaVerne), Joe (Peggy) and Tom (Lorine) Day all of Versailles; aunts, Pruda Setser of Versailles, Lillie Hisle of Greenfield, and Pauline (Irvin) Hart of Versailles. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Denver, Wendell and Dexter Day.
Mr. Day was a 1973 graduate of South Ripley High School. He was a 32 year employee of Ohio Rod in Versailles and had been a former employee of the Versailles IGA. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Osgood.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12, at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Visitation will also be Friday, from 9 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Lawrence Ralston

Funeral services have been set for Lawrence Ralston, 93, of Benham, who passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Waters of Salem in Salem, Indiana.
Visitation will be held tonight, November 9 from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. The Versailles Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 10 at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Olean with Pastor James Culver officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by the Brown Township American Legion.
Mr. Ralston was a 1935 graduate of Vevay High School, a 1939 graduate of Purdue University, and received his Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. He was an Army veteran of WWII serving as a Captain in the 89th division during the Invasion of France.
He had been an agriculture teacher in the Milroy, Milan and Cross Plains school systems, retiring in 1978. He had also served for five years as a director on the Indiana State Fair Board, served on the Milan Town Board, served several terms on the Ripley County Council, and Ripley County Planning Commission.
Mr. Ralston was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Olean, and was the oldest member of the Versailles Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Salem Lions Club, and the Brown Township American Legion.
He was born near Pleasant in Switzerland County September 22, 1917 the son of Clarence and Jessie Carnine Ralston. He was married to Mallie Lakeman on February 24, 1940 and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2003.
Survivors include two sons: Jim (Linda) Ralston of Salem and Doug (Lisa) Ralston of Evansville; grandchildren: Ryan Ralston of Lexington, Molly (Jared) Hammack of Avon, and Jenna Ralston of Chicago; two great-grandchildren; two brothers Dillman (Evelyn) Ralston of Clearwater, FL, and Earl (Shirley) Ralston of Tahola, Washington; two sisters Ruth Stegemiller of Southport and Mary Geyman of Madison; two sisters-in-law Patsy Ralston of Benham and Janice Furnish of East Enterprise. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bruce Ralston.
Memorials may be given to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Washington County Community Foundation in care of the funeral home.

Dr. Hendricks Reid Canida

Dr. Hendricks Reid Canida, 92, of Madison, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Indianapolis. He was born October 21, 1918, the son of Ollie W. Canida and Nora Lykins Canida. His wife of 52 years, Mary E. Canida, preceded him in death on January 19, 1994. He married Mary Louise (Corbett) Canida, and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Robert R. (Charlotte) Canida of Madison, Bill (Tere) Canida of Miami, FL, and Jon (Carol) Canida of Indianapolis; three stepsons, Larry (Debbie) Corbett, and John (Mary) Corbett, both of Indianapolis, and Lee (Donna) Corbett of Nashville, TN; one stepdaughter, Betsy (Bob) McKaig of Vermont; six grandchildren, Christy Canida, Ben (Becky) Canida, Brian and Carolina Canida, Kevin and Elizabeth Canida; two great grandchildren, Lilly and Corvidae; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, and two brothers: Joe and Herb Canida.
Dr. Canida was a dentist with an office in Versailles before moving to Madison in 1951. He grew up in mining towns around Hazard, KY, and graduated from Stuart Robinson High School, Berea College & University of Louisville College of Dentistry. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Dr. Canida served as a captain in the US Army Dental Corps during WWII.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with burial in Springdale. Visitation is being held today, Tuesday from 4-7 p.m., at Vail-Holt Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Donald V. Ingersoll, 88 of Batesville, formerly of Peoria, IL, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010. Leonard Arthur Murray
Leonard Arthur Murray, 53, of Brown County, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 in Brown County.
Survivors include wife, Sandra of Brown County; sons, Tommy and Michael Murray, both of Portland, OR; granddaughter, Liona Murray; brothers, Richard Murray of Dillsboro, and Lewis "Adam" Murray of Maryland Hgts., MO; and sisters, Verna "Bunny" Helvik of Ronan, MT, and Patricia Murray-Gratias of Garden Grove, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard, Sr., and Jesslyn (Ball) Murray; and brothers, Steve and Theodore Murray.
Mr. Murray graduated from Ross High School in Hamilton, Ohio in 1975 and had attended Concordia for Communication Management. He worked for AT&T as the Damage Prevention Manager, Underground Utilities Indiana Area, and was a Master Sergeant Controller/Trainer at US Army Reserves with more than 34 years of active and reserve service.
Leonard was an active member of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department in Brown County, where he served as Captain, firefighter, first responder and nationally certified Red Card Wildland Firefighter. He was the appointment as Community Emergency Response Coordinator (CERT) in the Brown County area.
Leonard was a member and writer of FigTree Fellowship Radio Players located in Helmsburg and co-authored several productions in which he also was featured. He was an active member of the Martinsville Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12, at Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle in Martinsville with Dr. Zemple officiating. Alvin Samuel "Bud" Wiedeman
Alvin Samuel "Bud" Wiedeman, 82, of Sunman, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010 at his home. He was born July 6, 1928, in Indianapolis, the son of Chester and Lydia Bosse Wiedeman. He married Janet Bauman on February 7, 1953 at St. John United Church of Christ, Penntown, and she survives.
Other survivors include children, Sherry (Darell) Burns of Indianapolis, Sandra (Dennis) Bischoff of St. Leon, Scott (Shele) Wiedeman of Sunman and Stan (Kim) Wiedeman of Batesville; grandchildren Erin (Jeff) Bond, Brandon Bischoff, Angie, Abbie and Andrew Burns, and Daniele, Natalie, Madison and Paige Wiedeman; great grandchildren: Ryan, Sammy, Ben and Claire Bond; brothers and sisters: Doris Hutson of Sunman, Edna "Mitz" (Wilbur) Gesell of Manchester, TN, Elsie (Ron) Klein of Brady, TX, and Arthur "Pete" Wiedeman of Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Wiedeman was the founder of Wiedeman Heating & Electric, Inc. of Sunman in 1970. He served with the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Penntown, and the Kenneth L. Diver Post #337-American Legion in Sunman.

William S. Warren, Sr.
William S. Warren, Sr., 85, of Dillsboro, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 11 a.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will follow in the New Craven Cemetery, Milan. Military rites will be performed by the Dillsboro American Legion. Visitation is being held today, Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Donald J. Turner
Donald J. Turner, 72, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. He was born near New Marion on March 11, 1938, the son of Ova and Flora Sebastian Turner. He was married to India Castner on May 5, 1967 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Joe (Holly) Turner of Osgood; two daughters, Nancy (Christopher) Solomon of Tybe Island, Georgia, and Kim (Tom) Sparks of Dillsboro; grandchildren, Jack and Jesse Turner; one brother, James E. Turner of Versailles; three sisters, Freda (Carroll) Adkins and Janet (Gary) Meierle both of Versailles, and Joyce (James) Jones of Burlington, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George Turner and his sisters Iva Stenger and Audra Stenger.
Mr. Turner was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a truck driver for 46 years, retiring from Ferrell Gas in 2000. He was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church and the Versailles American Legion.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 8 at the Tanglewood Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Stephens officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to the South Central Hospice or the Tanglewood Baptist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Zedra Samples
Zedra Samples, 96, of Rexville, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at Manchester, Kentucky on April 1, 1914, the daughter of Samuel and Haley Webb. She was married to Wendell Samples and he preceded her in death on September 20, 1990.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Tewmey of Versailles; three sons, Tullas (Judy) Samples of Perryville, Missouri, Jim (Joyce) Samples of Versailles, and Bert (Sonja) Samples of Rexville; daughter-in-law, Eloise Samples of Versailles; 19 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sons Frank, Glenn, and Sam, and her brothers Earl, Lee Robert, and Craft Webb.
Mrs. Samples was a homemaker and also had worked as a nurses aide at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, at Cragmont, and at the Manderley Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 11 at 12 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Shannon Schmaltz and Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden at Madison. Visitation will also be Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the activities fund of the Manderley Health Care Center or to the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.

Charles Michael Strimple

Charles Michael Strimple, 61, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. He was born at Milan on April 23, 1949, the son of Norman and Fern Demaree Strimple.
Survivors include his mother, Fern Strimple of Columbus; sister, Bobbie Fellerman of Columbus; brother, Wix Strimple of Braden, FL; and three nephews.
Mr. Strimple was a 1967 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School and was a former employee of Jay C Food Stores in Edinburgh. He was also a veteran of the Navy.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation will also be Wednesday, from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Melvin Custer Myers
Melvin Custer Myers, 89, formerly of Osgood, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at his home in Indianapolis. He was the son of Charles and Linnie Myers of Osgood. He married Eileen "Mike" Myers, who preceded him in death on February 11, 2008.
Survivors include three children: Julie (Thomas) Thornburg; Linda (Stephen) Haskins, and Charles (Jennifer) Myers; six grandchildren: Brad and Marjorie Hersman, Patrick Thornburg, and Ian, Colin, and Aidan Myers.
Mr. Myers was a member of the 1939 winning Sectional Team from Osgood High School. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in 'A' Battery of the 67th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Armored Division in World War II. He saw action during the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
A visitation and funeral was held at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel in Indianapolis. A visitation and funeral was also held Monday, November 1, at the Osgood First Baptist Church in Osgood. Neal’s Funeral Home handled arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Viola Mills
Viola Mills, 85, of Dillsboro, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born October 18, 1925, in Hammond, KY, the daughter of Lee and Ellen (Smith) Broughton. She married Denver Mills on May 9, 1944, and he survives.
Other survivors include son, Covell (Connie) Mills of Dillsboro; daughters, Maxine (Ron) Gall of Cincinnati, OH, and Charlene (Jerry) Olson of Kokomo; brothers, Leroy Broughton of Harrison, OH, Jim Broughton of Waldron, Carl Broughton of New Trenton, Charles Broughton of Sunman, Buford Broughton of Dallas, TX, and Randall Broughton of Milan; sisters, Odie Vogt of Batesville and Delora Allen-Lawrence of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Christi (Jason) Hill of Carmel, Kim (Robert) Karesh of Nashville, TN, Sarah Mills of Milwaukee, WI, Tyler Mills of Dillsboro, Kelly Nolley of Cincinnati; great grandchildren, Eliana Hill and Josiah Hill.
She was preceded in death by son Dennis Mills in 1995, grandson Jeff Kersey in 1994, brothers Russell, William and Oscar Broughton, sister Josie Roope and half sister Hester Abner.
Mrs. Mills was a homemaker. She was a member of the Dearborn Baptist Church.

Ivan Ray Kelley

Ivan Ray Kelley, 75, passed away Wednesday October 27, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Switzerland County, near Vevay on June 28, 1935 the son of Russell and Esther (Keith) Kelley. He married Barbara (Shuey) Kelley of Evansville, and she survives.
Other survivors include daughters: Kathryn Kelley (Greg Malone) and Susan Kelley both of Indianapolis; sons: Michael (Wendy) Kelley of Evansville and Keith (Christina) Kelley of St. Wendel; grandchildren: Rory Malone of Cambridge, MA, Ian and Patrick Malone of Indianapolis, Alec Chapin and Noah Kelley of Evansville, Erin, Sarah, Joel, and Blaise Kelley of St. Wendel; sister: Janet (Russ) Chorpenning of Indianapolis; and brother: Glen (Janet-deceased) Kelley of Batesville.
Mr. Kelley grew up in Delaware and graduated from Napoleon High School. Ivan met his future wife, Barbara at Indiana University. After graduation in 1957, he served as a second lieutenant in the US Army and later in the Army Reserves. For most of his career, he worked as a salesman in the automotive parts industry. He retired in 1999 after 20 years with Quality Automotive Distributors in Evansville.
Funeral services were held Saturday October 30, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home in Evansville, with burial in the Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Sunset Funeral Home, Evansville, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert M. Hauser, 70, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Milan. He was born Monday, January 8, 1940, in Butler County, Ohio, the son of the late Wilbur Hauser and the late Effie Huff Hauser.
Survivors include daughters, Bonnie (Tim) Bolt of Holton and Robin Hauser of Moores Hill; brothers, Carl (Mary) Hauser of Greensburg and Ervin (Melba) Hauser of Aurora; daughter-in-law, Connie Hauser of Osgood; sisters, Betty Hauser of Sardinia and Sally (Jerry) Wells of Greensburg; grandchildren, Kelly and Jason Bolt, Jaime Kennedy and Sadie New, Christa and Kimberly Hauser He was preceded in death by his parents, son Bobby Gene Hauser, brothers Fred Thomas Hauser and Wilbur Hauser, Jr.
Mr. Hauser worked for HillRom, Inc, for 33 years.

Mary Lou Medecke, 55 of Osgood, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at her home. She was born December 3, 1954 in Kentucky the daughter of Paul and Mary Byrd Brown.
Survivors include daughters, Nicole Dunagan and Mary Ann Fullmer, both of Osgood; sisters, Lynn Reatherford of Osgood, Deborah White of Columbus, Paula Christ of NC, Pam Cole of Osgood, Angie Miles of KY, and Cathy McQuery of Columbus; brothers: Bill Brown of Osgood and Jeff Brown of Sunman; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jimmy Paul.

Arnold Combs
Arnold Combs, 91, of Versailles, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at the Heartland of Mt. Airy of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born October 20, 1919 the son of Blaine and Alice Tucker Combs. He married Gladys Revel March 15, 1978 and she survives.
Other survivors include daughters: Cathy (Jeff) Volz of Osgood, Irene Messer of Versailles, Brenda Adams, Glenda Leach and Jennifer Borders, all of Madison; son: Randy Combs of GA; brother: Carlos Combs of TX; sister: Maxine Shorter of Cincinnati, OH; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons: Robin and Ellis Combs; two brothers: James and Alex Combs; and one sister: Nancy Shorter.
Mr. Combs was a WWII Army veteran. He had worked at Romweber's of Batesville for 32 years.
