Louis
Lee Turner
Louis Lee Turner, 72, of Sterling, Illinois, formerly of Dillsboro,
passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 in Sterling. He was born
August 28, 1938 in Milan, the son of John M. Turner and Myrtle
Licking Turner. In 1960 he married Shirley Boedigheimer. In
1988 he married Gail Burton and she preceded him in death in
1992.
Other survivors include daughter, Joanne (Jeremy) Larson, of
Aurora, CO; two sons, Michael "Floyd" Turner and his
special friend, DeAnn Devers, of Sterling, IL, and Steve (Kari)
Turner, of Bartlett, IL; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren;
one brother, R. Arthur (Glenna) Turner, of Dillsboro; two sisters,
Grace Ann (Jack) Oak, of Dillsboro, and his twin sister, Lois
(Charles) Stewart, of Grove City, PA; his sister-in-law, Anita
Morris, and mother-in-law, Evelyn "Pete" Burton Boyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Gail,
and his sister, Hazel.
Mr. Turner graduated from Versailles High School, and served
in the US Navy from 1956 to 1959 as a jet mechanic on the Bonhomme
Richard ship. Louis was retired from Northwest Steel and Wire
as an inspector following 38 years of service. Louis was a long
time member of the Moose Club in Sterling.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m.
at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro, with Rev. Richard
Kolaskey officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery,
Aurora. Memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.

Marvin G. (Butch) Scott
Marvin G. (Butch) Scott, 57, of Rexville, passed away Wednesday,
October 20, 2010 at the Kings Daughters Hospital
in Madison. He was born at Milan on June 18, 1953 the son of
Robert and Helen Farrell Scott. He married Sharon Grenat on
July 21, 1977 and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother Helen Scott of Rexville;
one son Les Scott and his companion Heather Patrick of Holton;
one daughter Carry Scott of Holton; grandchildren Benjamin Prather
and Jillian Scott; one sister Barbara (Mike) Youngblood of Rexville;
three brothers Keith (Joyce) Scott of New Marion, Dennis (Kim)
Scott of Benham, and Mike Scott and his companion Lee of Rexville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Scott was a member of the Shelby Christian Church and was
employed with Greensburg Milling as a truck driver.
Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 23 at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Randy Thieman officiating.
Burial was in Shelby Cemetery. Memorials may go to the donors

George "Jack" Smith
George "Jack" Smith, 77, of Versailles passed away
Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. He was
born at Batesville on April 18, 1933 the son of Frank and Hazel
Caplinger Smith. He was married to Ava Lostutter on September
3, 1955 and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter Lynn (Rod) Summers of Hebron,
Kentucky; two grandchildren, Lydia and Lauren Summers; one sister
Kay (Robert) Russell of Moores Hill; three brothers Dale (Claudia)
Smith of Spring Hill, Florida, Richard (Joyce) Smith of Westport,
and Alec (Dephane) Smith of Milan. He was preceded in death
by his parents, his step mother Jean Raeburn Smith Fricker,
his sister Betty Stutler, and his brother Ron Smith.
Mr. Smith was a 1951 graduate of Milan High School. He was an
Army veteran of the Korean War where he served as a Corporal
in the 740th Artillery Battalion and received the National Defense
Service Medal. Jack was a 26 year employee of the Southeastern
Indiana REMC where he retired as member service director in
1995. He received an outstanding service award for 22 years
of service from the Electric Institute of Indiana/Indiana Statewide
Service Member section in 1995.
Jack was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church where he
had served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was also
a long time member of the Versailles Lions Club and was Pumpkin
Show parade chairman for many years and was named a W. P. Woods
Fellow. He had also been a member of the Board of Directors
of Tyson Manor and was a member of the Versailles American Legion.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 29 at 11 a.m.
at the Tanglewood Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church
cemetery with military graveside rites by the Versailles American
Legion. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday
at the church. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Baptist
Church or the cemetery in care of the funeral home.
Ruby Florence Stork Reibel
Ruby Florence Stork Reibel, 91, of Osgood, passed away Sunday,
October 24, 2010 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood.
She was born April 18, 1919, at Osgood, the daughter of John
H. and Maud Ellen Huntington Stork, Sr. She married Raymond
James Reibel on June 21, 1947 and he survives.
Other survivors include son, James Francis (Brenda Kay Reed)
Reibel of Charlottsville, VA; sister, Virginia R. Miller of
Osgood; grandchildren, Raymond J. Reibel II, Shannon E. and
Ashley C. Reibel; great grandchildren, James F. Reibel II, Grace
M. Austin B. and Lucy V. Reibel. She was preceded in death by
one brother, John H. Stork III; four sisters, Mildred Blanche
and Elizabeth Alice Stork, Mary Ellen Smith and Grace Mae Landes;
and one nephew, Michael J. Miller.
Mrs. Reibel graduated from Osgood High School in 1937, and from
Millers Business College in Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked
for Ford Motor Company for nine years in Cincinnati. In 1951
she took a position as a career civil service employee working
for the Department of Defense at the Jefferson Proving Ground,
retiring in January of 1981.
Ruby was a member of the Osgood United Methodist Church and
the Center Township Farm Bureau. She had served as treasurer
of the Heart Association and the Crippled Childrens Association
and president of the Entre Nous Club of Osgood.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. at Neals
Funeral Home, Osgood. Funeral services will be held Wednesday,
at 11:30 a.m. at the Osgood United Methodist Church. She will
lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial
will be in the Greendale Cemetery, near Osgood. Memorials may
be given to the Greendale Cemetery or the Osgood UMC. Neals
Funeral Home, Osgood, is in charge of arrangements.
Glenn L. Roepke
Glenn L. Roepke, 82, of Sunman, passed away Tuesday, October
19, 2010 at his home. He was born in Sunman, on September 5,
1928, the son of Charles L. and May E. (Merrick) Roepke. He
married Jeannine E. Olson on May 19, 1951, at First Christian
Church in Harvey, IL. She preceded him in death on October 29,
2008.
Survivors include sons Wayne (Elke) Roepke of Colorado Springs,
CO, Leslie C. (Barbara) Roepke of Sunman; daughter, Karen A.
(Kenneth W.) Shelp of Westport; seven grandchildren; and ten
great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents,
his wife, and one brother, Charles H. Roepke.
Mr. Roepke was a Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict,
earning the Korean Service Ribbon and the United Nations Service
Medal. He was a life member of the Sunman Community Church,
the Batesville VFW, and was a past commander and member of the
Sunman Legions Kenneth L. Diver Post #337.
Glenn was employed with the US Postal service and was a farmer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 23, at Cook Funeral
Home, Sunman with burial in the St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman.
Military honors were provided by the Sunman American Legions
Kenneth L. Diver Post #337 and the Navy Funeral Honor Guard.
Memorials may be given to the Sunman Volunteer Fire Department
or the Sunman Life Squad. Cook Funeral Home, Sunman, handled
arrangements.
Harold Lloyd Wilson
Harold Lloyd Wilson, 79, of Dillsboro, formerly of Cross Plains
and Greendale, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at his
home. He was born in Jefferson County on September 21, 1931,
the son of the late Harold O. and Virginia Bear Wilson. He married
Judy Hedrick Wilson and she survives.
Other survivors include daughter, Diane (Steve) Belew of Dillsboro;
sons, Lloyd Dale (Lisa) Wilson of Milton, KY, and David (Jamie)
Wilson of Versailles, KY; two sisters, Esther (Bob) Smith of
Benham and Patty Johnson of Madison; three brothers, Harvey
(Liza) and Frank (Lana) Wilson of Commisky and Paul (Brenda)
Wilson of Cross Plains; and two grandchildren, Seth Clarkson
of Dillsboro and Leslie Wilson of Madison.
Mr. Wilson retired from Seagrams in Lawrenceburg after 30 years
of service. He was a member of Asbestos Workers Union Local
#8 and was a Korean War Veteran having served in the U.S. Army.

Mary
Jane (Steinmetz) McCoy
Mary Jane (Steinmetz) McCoy, 76, of Ballwin, Missouri, formerly
of Milan, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at her home.
She was born December 30, 1933, in Milan, the daughter of Dr.
Harold and Isabelle (Hensel) Steinmetz. She married David McCoy
on October 1, 1955 and he preceded her in death.
Survivors
include son, Mark (Linda) McCoy; daughter, Mindy (Debbie) McCoy;
11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, JoAnne (John)
Raterman; sister-in-laws, Marge Steinmetz and Mary Lou Steinmetz;
and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her husband, parents, brothers: Bill and Harold Jr. (Bud) Steinmetz;
and in-laws, Myron (Mac) and Gladys McCoy.
Mrs. McCoy was a 1951 graduate of Milan High School and from
Hanover College in 1955 with a degree in library science. She
was a librarian and a homemaker.
Funeral mass will be held Friday, October 22, at 11 a.m. at
St. Charles Catholic Church at Milan, with Father Frank Eckstein
officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Catholic
Cemetery, south of Milan. Friends may visit the family following
the committal services at the St. Charles Catholic Church fellowship
hall. Memorials may be given to the Cancer Fund, Backstoppers,
or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation through the funeral

Martha Jane Farrell
Martha Jane Farrell, 94, of Milan, formerly of Aurora, passed
away Sunday, October 17, 2010. Visitation will be Wednesday,
October 20, from 5-8 p.m. at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home,
Aurora, with funeral services on Thursday, at 10 a.m. at the
funeral home. Burial will follow in the Cliff Hill Cemetery,
Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Robert E. Burton
Robert E. Burton, 83, of Versailles passed away Saturday, October
16, 2010 at his home. He was born in the Hopewell community
near Holton on September 1, 1927 the son of Elmer Percy and
Alice Hart Burton. He was married to Loretta Wilson on August
7, 1949 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son Ronald (Donna) Burton of Dover;
granddaughter Michelle Bradley of Columbus, Ohio; two great-grandchildren;
one brother Jerry (Odetta) Burton of Osgood. He was preceded
in death by his parents, his brother William, and his sister
Geneva Doyle.
Mr. Burton was retired from the US Navy where served from 1944
to 1968 taking part in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was also
involved in the blockade of Cuba, the Bay of Pigs, and the Lebanon
Crisis. His highest rank was that of Senior Chief Boilerman
and he also worked in Civil Service for 25 years as a boilerman.
Mr. Burton worked at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis and
also at the Jefferson Proving Ground. He served on the USS Hammond
Sport, Sarsfield, Kaskaskia, Chickaskia, Merrimack, Bowers,
Glennon, and was on the USS Forrestal Wadliegh when they recovered
astronaut Alan Shepherd in the Pacific Ocean after his Apollo
flight.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Osgood, the Osgood
Masonic Lodge, Osgood American Legion, Indianapolis Valley of
the Scottish Rite, Navy Fleet Reserve, and the Navy Memorial
Association.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 20 at 11
a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Osgood with Rev. Don Buck
officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery with military
graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation
will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services
Wednesday at the church. The Osgood Masonic Lodge will conduct
services Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may
be given to the First Baptist Church in care of the funeral
home.
David Lee Graver
David Lee Graver, 78, of Dillsboro, passed away Thursday, October
14, 2010. He was born January 20, 1932 in Dillsboro. His wife
of 58 years, Karen (Morris) Graver, survives.
He is also survived by sons: Richard (Deborah), Christopher
(Sandra), Jeffrey (Cindy), and Mark (Debra); eight grandchildren;
seven great grandchildren; sisters: Ruth (Graver) Johnson, Lois
(Graver) Lade; and brothers: John and Paul Ed. David was preceded
in death by his parents.
Mr. Graver was baptized on March 13, 1932 at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Dillsboro and also confirmed on April 14, 1946. He
graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1950 and enlisted into
the United States Navy, where he served as an aviation machinists
Mate Second Class on the P2-V Neptune navy aircraft from 1951-1955.
Upon his honorable discharge from the navy, David returned to
Dillsboro where he went to work at his fathers Shell service
station and in 1966 he and Norman Holtegel became partners in
the business and later co-owners. He continued to work at the
Texaco service station until 1980 when they sold the business.
He was employed with the Indiana Department of Transportation
in Milan, Paul Walstons dealership in Versailles, which
later became Tom Tepes dealership.
David was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He
served numerous terms as elder, trustee, and Sunday school superintendent.
He also served on the Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Dept. and Emergency
Life Squad from 1957-1977. During this time he served as fire
chief. He was a lifetime member of the Dillsboro Legion Post
292 Northcutt-Laaker and served as board member for the Oakdale
Cemetery Association from 1997- until his passing.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 18, at Trinity Lutheran
Church, with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Memorials
may be given to the Camp Lakeview in Seymour or to Dillsboro
Oakdale Cemetery Association. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro,
was in charge of arrangements.
Fr. Patrick Michael Commons
Fr. Patrick Michael Commons, 86, of Beech Grove, a Priest of
the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis, passed away
Sunday, October 17, 2010 at St. Paul Hermitage in Beech Grove.
Father Pat was born on September 23, 1924, in Kokomo, the son
of Patrick and Louise (Stuppe) Commons.
Father Commons was ordained to the priesthood in 1951 as a member
of the Divine Word Missionaries. After serving 14 years as a
missionary in India, he returned to the US and was incardinated
into the Archdiocese in 1970. He served parishes in Millhousen,
Indianapolis (St. Lawrence), Yorkville, Knightstown, Charlestown
and retired from St. Charles and St. Pius at Milan in 1993.
Fr. Pat is survived by a sister, Noreen C. Van Slyke of Indianapolis;
sister-in-laws, Martha Commons of Indianapolis and Shirley Commons
of Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by brothers Leo, Ted, Jim, Rev. Thomas SVD, Norbert,
and Julian Commons, and sisters Anna C. Monahan and Margaret
Commons.
Calling hours in Beech Grove will be Wednesday, October 20,
4-7 p.m., followed by a vigil service at 7 p.m. at St. Paul
Hermitage, 501 N. 17th Ave, 46107; on Thursday, Oct. 21, at
St. Charles Catholic Church in Milan, services begin with a
reception of the body at 9 a.m. followed by a visitation until
time of mass at 11 a.m. Archbishop Daniel M. Buechlein, OSB
will be the main celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Charles
Catholic Cemetery, Milan. Memorials may be given to the Archdioceses
of Indianapolis or masses.

Dean Lane Davis, 42, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Friday,
October 8, 2010. Memorial services for Dean will be Sunday,

F. Miller
Emma F. Miller, 82, of Holton, passed away Saturday, October
9, 2010 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.
She was born in Brethitt County, Kentucky on November 26, 1927,
the daughter of Frank and Laura Watkins Moore. She was married
to Harold Cunningham in 1966 and he preceded her in death on
November 29, 1978. She was married to Dewey Miller on August
4, 1981 and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1992.
Survivors include one son, Chester Junior (Vickie) Patrick of
Holton; three daughters, Elaine (Sam) Beeman of North Vernon,
Evelyn (Jim) Patton of Columbus, and Ena (Roy) Barrett of Holton;
nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren;
one sister, Phyllis Sue Hardy of Seymour; three brothers, Bill
Moore of Holton, George (Deanna) Moore of North Vernon, and
James Sewell (Nancy) Moore of Madison. She was preceded in death
by her parents, brothers Robert, Elmer, Johnny, and Raymond
Moore, and sisters Sarah Ann Sharp, Bertha Moore and Frances
Hollon.
Mrs. Miller was a former employee of the Manderley Nursing Home
in Osgood and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 13 at 11 a.m.
at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro.
Paul Hensley officiating. Burial will be in the Holton West

Leah Loween (McColley) Hauk
Leah Loween (McColley) Hauk, 93, of Osgood, passed away Saturday,
October 9, 2010 at Manderley Healthcare Center, Osgood. She
was born July 17, 1917, the daughter of Frank and Thresa (Headlee)
McCol-ley. She married George "Fred" Hauk, Sr. on
June 10, 1942 and he preceded her in death on January 30, 1975.
Survivors include daughters, Eileen Miller of Shelbyville, Rachel
Rogers of Winter Haven, FL, Leah (Miley) Denney of Shelbyville,
Nancy (Timothy "Tom") Higgins of Shelbyville, and
Patti Skaggs of Osgood; sister, Marjorie Farlow of Waldron;
daughter-in-law, Jamie S. Hauk of Bethany WV; 25 grandchildren
and several great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her parents, husband, daughters Georgia Worland
and Freida Loween Hauk, son George "Fred" Hauk, Jr.,
three brothers, and one grandson.
Mrs. Hauk was a homemaker. She graduated from Manilla High School.
Visitation will be at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory,
Carmony-Ewing Chapel, Shelbyville, on Friday, October 15, from
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with funeral services directly following.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Freeman Family Funeral
Home, Shelbyville, is in charge of arrangements.
Charles F. Billman
Charles F. Billman, 73, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday, October
5, 2010 at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown. He was born
in Batesville, on November 29, 1936, the son of Magnalena (Exdine)
and Charles Billman. He married Dawn Gill on April 9, 1996,
and she survives.
Other survivors include children: Jerome Billman, John Billman,
Carl Billman, Shirley Werner, Rosemary Newhart, Nancy Koontz,
Marilyn Schantz; 19 grandchildren; two great grandchildren;
step children: Brenda Jarnes, Tina Barkey, Brian Scudder; three
step grandchildren; and brother, Eugene Billman. He was preceded
in death by his parents and a sister, Viola Prickle.
A military graveside service with full honors was held at the
Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison, on Monday, Oct.
11. Cremation rights have been accorded to Mr. Billmans
request through Voss & Sons Funeral Service and Tri-County
Crematory, Seymour. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Schneck
Medical Center in care of Voss Funeral Service, Seymour.

Christine Klusman (Bauer)
Doris Christine Klusman (Bauer), 89, passed away September 20,
2010 in Evergreen, Colorado.
She
was born on a farm near Spades, on May 31, 1921, the daughter
of Leo and Sophia Bauer. She married William Klusman on May
18, 1940. They lived in Batesville and Cincinnati, Ohio from
1940-1950. In 1950, they moved to Sunman where they operated
the Farm Shop until 1990.
Survivors include daughter, Janice Knight of Lake St. Louis,
MO, and son, Ronald Klusman of Evergreen, CO; grandchildren,
Robert and Richard of California, and Laura Bultman of Minnesota;
two great grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William on January
3, 1994, and a brother, Dale, in 1960.
Doris was presented an award of appreciation for 45 years of
faithful service in teaching kindergarten age children in 1995
by the Sunman Community Church.
A memorial service will be held at the Sunman Community Church
at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 25. A private burial will be held
prior to the memorial service in Huntersville Cemetery at St.
Johns Evangelical Church in Batesville. Memorials may
be given to the Sunman Community Church. Cook Funeral Home,
Sunman, assisted the family with arrangements.

Thomas D. Carpenter, 72, of Milan, passed away Friday, October
1, 2010. Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 7,
at 11 a.m. at the St. Martins Catholic Cemetery at Yorkville

Agnes T. Smith, 83, of Batesville, passed away Saturday, October
