A man who walked away from the Manderley Health Care Center
on Saturday caused quite a stir.
According to information from Shawn Negangard, owner of the
facility, a male resident was discovered missing about 4:00
p.m. An alert went out immediately.
The Osgood Police Department, Osgood Volunteer Fire Department,
Indiana State Police and the Ripley County Sheriffs Office,
along with the Ripley County Emergency Management Agency, facility
staff and members of the community came together like nothing
Negangard had ever seen. I just couldnt believe
it, he told the Osgood Journal.
Negangards aid there were people on foot, bicycles, and in cars
searching for the missing man.
It was soon discovered that the resident had gotten outside
of the fenced area where he found a car in the parking lot with
the keys inside, and took a ride. He was found later that same
evening. Negangard reported that the missing man stayed overnight
at the hospital for observation and was brought back to the
facility at Osgood the next day.
Negangard commends his staff, all the responding agencies, and
the surrounding community volunteers who came together to assist
in locating the resident. Its times like this that
proves what a great community we live in, Negangard noted.
I just couldnt count all the people who helped us.
It was amazing, Negangard concluded.
