Crews from Holman Excavating were busy last Friday tearing
down this old house in Versailles. The historic home was
built around 1860, and was one of the oldest houses in the
town of Versailles, according to current owners of the property,
Scott and Cindy Neal. The house was razed to make way for
a three-unit strip mall, which will contain Gold Star Chili.
The house was referred to as the Benham House and sat behind
the Shell Station just off US 50. Construction of the strip
mall will begin soon, according to Neal.
