The Osgood Volunteer Fire Department (OVFD) along with the
F.A.R.M. . Club co-sponsored a truck and tractor pull at
the Ripley County Fairgrounds Park in June. After the event,
the OVFD decided to donate their share of the proceeds to
the Doug Laws family to help defray the cost of escalating
medical bills. The Laws family was presented a check in
the above photo for $1500 at the Osgood Fire Station on
July 22. The family appreciates all the support of fellow
firefighters and the community at large. Pictured from left
back row are: Steve Linville, OVFD chief, Norman Kappes,
OVFD president, Thelma and Ed Laws, parents of Doug Laws,
Scott White, OVFD executive board member, David Brook, OVFD
secretary and Larry Black, OVFD treasurer. Pictured in the
front row holding the check is Annjeanette and Allen Laws,
children of Doug Laws, a Milan firefighter who has been
in a fight of his own since being diagnosed with Leukemia.
