A request to blacktop a portion of a county road that borders Switzerland County was heard by the commissioners at the regular meeting on Monday, July 26. According to Leon Berner, a resident who lives on the road, Switzerland County plans to pave the road up to the county line and requests that the remainder of the road on the Ripley County side be paved also.

Switzerland County Commissioner Casey Banta explained that the project would begin after the completion of a bridge project. He explained that he feels the sign showing the Ripley County boundary is in the wrong place.

Ripley County Commissioner Gary Stutler requested more information regarding cost of the paving project and that the county line is determined. The matter was tabled in order to gather the information.

In other business:
• The commissioners approved the following voting precinct changes: Franklin 3 voting district will be at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milan; Washington 1 and 2 voting districts will be moved to the Washington Baptist Church in Elrod.

• The motion to approve the annual contract with Ripley County Economic Development, which will pay 12% EDIT funds to the organization, was unanimously approved.

• The contract with GFC for the 2011 budget was unanimously approved.
All commissioners were in attendance along with county auditor Bill Wagner and county attorney Neil Comer to advise. The next meeting will be held on Monday, August 9 beginning at 7 a.m. at the Ripley County Highway Garage in Osgood and reconvening at 8 a.m. at the courthouse annex in Versailles.
