Doris Elizabeth Champe
Doris Elizabeth Champe, 89, of Dillsboro, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at her daughter-in-laws home in Dillsboro. She was born on October 15, 1920 in Etowah, Tennessee, the daughter of James Gettis Case and Sarah Elizabeth Robinson Case. On April 27, 1940 she married Alan Champe, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Beverly Champe of Dillsboro, and her grandson, Jeffrey Champe of Indianapolis. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Gary Stephen Champe, in 2008; one brother, James Richard Case; and one sister, Martha Jean Case Kenny.
Mrs. Champe graduated from Knoxville High School in Knoxville, TN and from National Business College, also in Knoxville. Doris moved to the Versailles area in 1960, and joined Tyson United Methodist Church. She worked as a church secretary for five years and also church treasurer for several years. She was employed at Purdue Extension Service in Versailles for 27 years, and at Southeast Feeder Pig Auction for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 2 p.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro, with her pastor, Rev. James Byerly officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Burial will be in Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. JoAnn Schwanholt

JoAnn Schwanholt, 53, of Versailles passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born in Cincinnati, OH on November 5, 1956 the daughter of Bill and Norma Hux Frazier. She was married to Darrell Schwanholt on June 2, 1998 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Robert (Amanda) Frazier of Liberty, KY; two daughters, Norma George and JoAnna (Gabe) Cruser, both of Holton; nine grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Frazier of Jamestown, KY; two sisters Barb Smith of Cincinnati, OH and Diane Golden of Covington, KY; and her father-in-law Mr. Victor Schwanholt of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Schwanholt was an 18-year employee of Ohio Rod in Versailles where she worked as a machine tender.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dewberry with Pastor Ralph Campen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is being held today, Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Cecil A. Bultman, Sr.
Cecil A. Bultman, Sr., 95, of Napoleon passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. He was born near Napoleon on October 24, 1914 the son of Oliver and Edna Hoyer Bultman. He was married to Alice Young on December 30, 1935 and she preceded him in death on September 29, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil A. (Mary) Bultman, Jr. of Napoleon and Denzil Bultman of Madison; one daughter, DeVota Dean of Osgood; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Lester G. Bultman, Sr. of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald Charles Bultman, his grandson Karl Bultman, his brothers Woodrow and Dale Bultman, and his sister Ruby Stratton.
Mr. Bultman was a retired farmer and attended the Stewart School in Delaware Township. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon where he had taught Sunday school and was a member of the church choir.
Cecil was a member of the Ripley County Farm Bureau and a former member of the Batesville Eagles. He was a school bus driver for the Napoleon and Jac-Cen-Del school systems from 1945 to 1981 and had served as president of the Indiana School Bus Drivers Association for 22 years. Mr. Bultman was also a former 4-H leader for the Napoleon Fighters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon with Pastor Gary Groth and Rev. David Shivers officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery at Napoleon. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the church or the Napoleon Fire Department in care of the funeral home.

Gracie Turner
Gracie Turner, 72, of Osgood, passed away Sun-day, April 25, 2010, at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born December 19, 1937 at Hazard, KY, the daughter of John C. and Lewie Eversole. She mar-ried Paul Eugene Turner and he preceded her in death June 4, 1999.
Survivors include grand-daughter, Amanda Davis of Osgood, and two other grandchildren; son, Arlie Turner of Milan; daughter, Wilma Sue Petrey of Os-good; brothers, John C. Eversole of Petersburg, VA, Daniel Eversole of FL, and Andrew Eversole of Goshen; sisters, Evelyn Eversole of Columbus, and Jacqueline Herald of FL; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Eversole and Mary Reeves.
Mrs. Turner attended the Versailles Wesleyan Church.
Visitation is being held today, Tuesday, at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood from 10 a.m.-12 noon with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in the Mud Pike Cemetery near Osgood. Ronald E. Lows

Ronald E. Lows, 74, of Rockville, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 in Union Hospital at Terre Haute. He was born January 26, 1936 in Milan, the son of the late Leonard Wilson Lows and Nelda Teaney Lows. He married Diane Hall Lows on December 20, 1958 in Washington, DC, and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Tony (Krystal) Lows of Rockville; one daughter, Sandi (Terry) Van Winkle of Martinsville; three brothers, Bill Lows of Milan, Kenny Lows and Jerald Lows, both of Moores Hill; five grand-daughters, Veronica (Rod-ney) Hughes, Samantha (Aaron) Seelig, Jasmine Lows, Jordyn Lows and Jaida Lows. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Lows in 1981 and a brother, Larry Lows in 1942.
Mr. Lows was a 1955 graduate of Milan High School He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959 during the Lebanon Crisis. He was a member of the Rockville First United Methodist Church, Rockville Elk's Lodge #2471, American Legion Fellenzer Post 48, Amvets Post #61, Parke Lodge # 8 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute and Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute.
Ronald retired from Eli Lilly and Company Clinton Laboratory with 28 years of service. He was also em-ployed with Atomic Energy of Fernald, Ohio for 12 years.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 26, at Gooch Funeral Home in Rockville with the Rev. Ed Fisher officiating. Burial with military graveside honors by Parke County Veterans followed in Mem-ory Garden Cemetery at Rockville.

Jo Pelsor Coyle
Jo Pelsor Coyle, 80 of Osgood, passed away April 26, 2010 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born December 23, 1929 in Versailles, the daughter of Albert Jackson and Mabel Decker Pelsor. She married George Dewey Coyle August 6, 1949 and he survives at home.
Other survivors include son, Larry and wife Connie Coyle of Batesville; daughters, Lila (Bill) Neal of Osgood, Cindy (Jim) Bischoff of Batesville, and Tami (Mark) Jones of Osgood; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Pelsor.
Mrs. Coyle was a member of Mud Pike Baptist Church where she had served as clerk, Sunday school teacher, pianist and also was a member of the church missionary society. She had also served as treasurer of the cemetery. Jo had worked at Jac-Cen-Del High School from 1964-1977 as secretary and treasurer to the Superintendent. She was Ripley County Deputy Recorder from 1978-1985.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 28, from 5-8 p.m. at Neal's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at the Mud Pike Church in Osgood with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hazel I. Peelman

Hazel I. Peelman, 90, of Moores Hill, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010. Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill, with Pastor Ted Hamrick and Rev. Larry Peelman officiating. Ethel P. (Bean) Pratt
Ethel P. (Bean) Pratt, 83, of Osgood, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born December 23, 1926 in Delaware, Indiana, the daughter of George and Ischa (Swineforth) Bean.
Survivors include daughter, Lila McDaniel and Lisa Pratt; son, Mark Pratt; three grandchildren and other great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Wynema Brandt; brothers, Van Bean and Harold "Chub" Bean; and sister, Virginia Rutherford.
Ethel was known for her love of cooking and gardening.

Judith D. Thurman, 69, of Rising Sun, formally of Patriot, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010. David W. Hensley
David W. Hensley, 46, of Milan passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born at the Christ Hospital on September 22, 1963 the son of Frances and Norma Crowley Hensley. He was married to Barbara Bagley on September 20, 1986 and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Nathan Hensley and Aaron Hensley, and one daughter, Rachel Hensley all at home; his mother, Mrs. Norma Hensley of Milan; one sister, Charlotte (Doug) Norman of Milan; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Patricia Booker of Lake City, Michigan, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Frances Hensley, his brother, Eddie, and his grandparents, Ed and Mabel Hensley and James and Christine Crowley.
Mr. Hensley was a 1981 graduate of Milan High School. He received his BS degree in engineering from Indiana State in 1986 and received his Masters Degree from Kettering University in Michigan. He had been employed with Hill-Rom in Batesville since 1988 where he worked as a mechanical design-engineering specialist.
David was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and youth leader. He was also currently serving as president of the Ripley County Camp of the Gideons.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 19 at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Cantrel and Pastor Doug Norman officiating. Memorials may be given to the Gideons or the Versailles Baptist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.

George William "Bill" Wehner, Jr.
George William "Bill" Wehner, Jr., 80, of Madison, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born on March 7, 1930 in Jefferson County, the son of George William Sr. and Amy Winifred "Freda" Kessler Wehner. He was united in marriage on June 29, 1952 at the Shelby Christian Church in Ripley County to Shirley JoAnn Lindsay, and she survives.
Other survivors include daughter, Rita Renee Wehner of Zachariah, Kentucky; granddaughter, Lindsay Renee Curl of Madison; sisters, Alda Burke (Glenn) of Madison and Winifred Smith Bennett (Floyd) of The Villages, Florida; brother-in-law, Charles Keith Stewart of Canaan; his caregiver and friend: Jeanie Liter of Madison; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marla and Richard Ogden of Nashville; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by parents; his daughter, Darla Wehner Curl who died January 21, 2007; his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth W. Sr. and Kathryn Wehner; his sisters, Wanda Rogers and Wiletta Stewart; and his infant brother, Owen Wehner and his brother-in-law, Robert Smith.
Mr. Wehrner was a 1948 graduate of North Madison High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on March 6, 1951 and rose to the rank of Private First Class during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on July 3, 1951 from the U.S. Army Hospital.
Bill had worked at Case Implement as a tractor mechanic and then went to work as a packer at Williamson Heater before being drafted to the Army. After he was discharged from service he began working in time study at Williamson Heater.
He was a member of the North Madison Christian Church. He was a member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 17, with Rev. Randy Crutchfield officiating at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, in Madison. Burial was in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison, with full military honors conducted by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

Ernest Goodpaster, Sr.
Ernest Goodpaster, Sr., 73, of Milan, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with Pastor Charlie Miller officiating. Burial will be in the New Cravens Cemetery in Milan. Dorothy Henderson
Dorothy Henderson, 73, of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her home. She was born near Osgood on February 15, 1937 the daughter of Frank and Florence Hankins Monroe. She was married to Harry Henderson on August 27, 1955 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son Jim Henderson of Osgood. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Marion, Donald, Gerald, Clarence, Leroy, Wayne, and Ray Monroe, and her sisters Mildred Monroe, Mabel Hartig, Beatrice Harlin, Gladys Curry, Beulah Monroe, and Ruby Daugherty.
Mrs. Henderson was a former employee of the Delaney Wood Heel Factory in Versailles and was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 17 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial was in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Diabetes Association or the Cedar Creek Church in care of the funeral home.

Ellen Ann Carroll
Ellen Ann Carroll, 83, of Dillsboro, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born May 29, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph H. Cutter and Grace Marie Turner Cutter. She married Floyd Davies in 1949, who preceded her in death in April of 1982. She then married Schuler Carroll in 1984 and he passed away in 2002.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Dorothy Snyder of Cincinnati, OH, and Frances Davies of Cross Plains; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Carroll graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1945 and Christ Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. Ellen was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro with Pastor Richard Kolaskey officiating. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mary A. Eaglin

Mary A. Eaglin, 89, of Loveland, Ohio, a former Dillsboro resident from 1945 to 1996, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at her home. She was born in Chicago, the daughter of James Rice and Mary Burns Rice on July 16, 1920. On September 15, 1945 she married Russell Eaglin, who passed away March 4, 1994.
Surviving are three daughters, Eileen (Jerry) Lutze, of Fishers, Diane (Dennis) Phillips, of Loveland, OH, and Cathy (Charlie) Hale, of Carmi, IL; five grandchildren, Lori Doss, Cathy Herren, Gina Johnson, Shannon Wik, and Jennifer Matz; one brother, Jack Rice; two sisters, Theresa Stevens and Eileen Jaklinski; and a sister-in-law, Irene Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, Patrick, William, and James Rice.
Mrs. Eaglin served her country in the US Army from 1943-45. She attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church, and was employed for 30 years at Seagrams Distillery. Mary was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Bunco Club, and the 50+ Club, all in Dillsboro. She was also active in the Home Economics Club.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceburg with Fr. Peter Gallagher as celebrant. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the Dillsboro Emergency Unit. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.

Stanley Donald Wilbur, Jr.
Stanley Donald Wilbur, Jr., 71, of Batesville, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010. Visitation is being held today, Tuesday, from 2-4 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville with funeral services immediately following and burial in the Rossburg Cemetery in New Point. Donald Gene Hicks
Donald Gene Hicks, 75, of Napoleon, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. He was born near Napoleon on December 26, 1934, the son of Vern and Luella Winters Hicks. He was married to Patricia Straber on Friday, April 13, 1956, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Brad (Karen) Hicks and Bart (Elaine) Hicks, both of Napoleon; grandchildren, Janine, Matthew (Leslie), Laura, Kristen, Meagan, Jessica and Erin Hicks; and one great grandson, Brayden Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Hicks was a 1954 graduate of Napoleon High School. He had been employed with the Ripley County Highway Department, Cummins, and the Union Furniture Company in Batesville. He was also a farmer and had driven milk trucks for Bobby Todd and Jack Snyder. He also participated in harness racing throughout the county fair circuit.
Mr. Hicks was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon, the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, the Eastern Star, and was a 50 year member of the Osgood Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon with Pastor Gary Groth officiating. Burial will be in the Booher Cemetery near Napoleon. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church.
Masonic services will be conducted Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Central House or St. John’s Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.

Charles Merle Van Kirk
Charles Merle Van Kirk, 82, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born on February 16, 1928, the son of Clyde and Lois Warda (Tarpening) Van Kirk. He married Irene Selke on June 25, 1949, and she survives.
Survivors include children, John (Eleana) Van Kirk of North Carolina, Bill Van Kirk of Wyoming, and Larry (Marcy) Van Kirk of Fountaintown; brother, Melvin Van Kirk of Florida; sister, Martha Jane May of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Alice Wilson and Letha Harmon.
Mr. Van Kirk graduated from Napoleon High School and went to trade school to become a machinist. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and in the Navy Reserve. Charles worked for Western Electric for over 25 years before retiring in 1985.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21, from 4-8 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at the mortuary. Pastor Howard Whitecotton will be officiating and burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.

Luscill Sparks, Sr.
Luscill Sparks Sr., 87 of Osgood, formerly of Milan, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born January 26, 1923 in Evelyh,KY to the parents of Elijah A. and Martha Ann Brinegar Sparks. He married Cleona Rice and she preceded him in death April 18, 2008.
Survivors include son, Luscill Earl (Cathy) Sparks of Milan; daughters, Susan A. Ramsey of Greensburg, Donna Jean Winters of Greensburg, Dana Faye Owens and special friend Mike Greco of Osgood; sister, Emma Brumback of Osgood; 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Estill and Edward Sparks, and two sisters, Amanda Horn and Dixie Hardy.
Mr. Sparks was a WW II Army Veteran and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Versailles American Legion and had attended Delaware Methodist Church. He was a past employee of Hillenbrand Industry.

Leo R. Geyman
Leo R. Geyman, age 81, of Bacon Ridge Road near Madison, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010 at his farm. He was born August 13, 1928 in Shelby Township in Jefferson County, the son of William and Laura Heitz Geyman, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Mary Jane Turner on November 24, 1955 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in China, Indiana and she survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Janet Geyman (companion, Joseph Fristy) of Colonial Beach, VA, Sherri Furnish (David) of Versailles, Debbie Geyman (Scott) Friedersdorff of Kalamazoo, MI; brother, Alois Geyman (Joyce) of Madison; grandson, Bryce Furnish of Madison; four step grandchildren; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Caroline and Harold Woodard of Harrison, OH, George Turner of Hanover; one niece, three nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronnie Geyman, who died in 1942; and his brother-in-law, Fred Turner.
Mr. Geyman was raised in Shelby Township and resided nearly all of his life on Bacon Ridge. He was a 1946 graduate of Central High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on July 14, 1952, in Indianapolis, during the Korean War. He rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged on May 26, 1954, receiving the Combat Infantry Badge; the Korean Service Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars; the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Geyman was a long time member of St. Anthony Catholic Church at China. He served as a trustee there until it closed. He then began membership at St. Magdalene Catholic Church at New Marion. He was a member of the Madison VFW Post 1969. Leo was awarded with his brother, Alois in 2005 "Master Conservation Farmer of the Year", by the Jefferson County Soil & Water Conservation District.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, in Madison. The Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 14, at 1 p.m., by the Rev. John A. Meyer and the Rev. Frank Eckstein at the St. Patrick Catholic Chapel, in Madison. Burial will follow in the St. Magdalene Cemetery in Madison, with full military honors conducted by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion and the Fort Knox Ceremonial Unit.

Leona C. Wagner
Leona C. Wagner, 92, of Osgood, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born near Osgood on August 12, 1917, the daughter of Fred and Bertha Wheeler Lustig. She was married to Arthur Wagner on November 16, 1938 and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1999.
Survivors include four sons, Jim (Nancy) Wagner of Hartsville, Roger (Peggy) Wagner and Gene (Joyce) Wagner, both of Osgood, and Joe (Pearl) Wagner of Westport; one daughter, Carole (Duane) Franklin of Holton; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Sherry Lewis, and brothers Lawrence Lustig and Howard Lustig.
Mrs. Wagner was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Osgood and a member of the Jolly Circle Home Ec Club. She was also a homemaker and had done furniture upholstering.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Osgood with Father Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will be in the St. Maurice Cemetery at Napoleon. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with rosary services at 7:30 p.m.

Hazel Dean Bainter, 74, of Booneville, KY, formerly of Moores Hill, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010. Cremation will occur. Barbara Ann Prarat Morris passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. She was born at Akron, Ohio the daughter of William and Helen Roussert Douglas.
She is survived by her husband Paul, sons Jack (Kathi) Prarat of Aurora and Doug (Sandy) Prarat of Morris; one daughter Kim Boyer of Cincinnati; grandchildren Sarah, Geoff, Matt, Emily, Lindsey, Chris, Jacob, Abby, Andrew, and Logan; great-grandchildren Trey and Julie Ann; one brother William (Mel) Douglas of Lewis, Delaware; niece Leigh (Tom) Joos and family Conner, Eric, and Elana; nephew Tim (Kim) Douglas and son Jordan.
Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Becky Christman.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 12 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. David Shivers of the Hopewell Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell building fund in care of the funeral home.

Estella Edna Fletcher
Estella Edna Fletcher, 85, of Milan, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. She was born October 6, 1924 in Sunman, the daughter of August George and Estella (Ellis) Lauber. She married Raymond Herald Fletcher and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Lloyd (Faye) Fletcher of Milan, Frank (Judy) Fletcher of Sunman, and Samuel Fletcher of Milan; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvy Lauber, Elmer Lauber and Raymond Lauber, and four sisters, Anna Marie Couch, Betty Seagrest, Irene Allen and Myrtle Hixson.
Mrs. Fletcher was a homemaker for most of her life. In her later years she worked in the kitchen at the Milan Elementary School. She was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church in Sunman and a former member of the Milan Methodist Church. Estella was also a member of Internationally Yours, a war ladies penpal club, as well as a member of the Help Your Neighbor Club in Milan and the United Methodist Women’s Club. She also volunteered at Margaret Mary Community Hospital.
Visitation services are being held today, Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Sunman. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 7 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Duane Loos officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association. Cook Funeral Home in Sunman is in charge of arrangements.

James E. McKittrick
James E. McKittrick, age 79, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born August 7, 1930 in Decatur County to James McKittrick and Helen Parsons McKittrick. On January 18, 1957, he was married to Sandra Bailey McKittrick, and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Douglas (Cindy) McKittrick, of Lebanon, OH, and one daughter, Deborah (Emmert) Leffler, of Aurora; two brothers, John and David McKittrick; two sisters, Rita Pulley and Betty Cook.
Mr. McKittrick was employed at Western Auto Store in Milan for 23 years, working for his uncle, prior to purchasing the business. He and his wife owned and operated the store for eight years before moving to Florida in 1982. While in Florida, he worked as a groundskeeper at a golf course before retiring in 2001. Upon retirement, Jim and Sandra moved to Aurora, where they have resided since. He formerly attended Washington Baptist Church in Elrod.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services or visitation. Arrangements entrusted to Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.

Alta Asche
Alta Asche, 95, of North Vernon, formerly of Holton, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born at Haney’s Corner near Rexville on December 18, 1914 the daughter of Harry and Myrtie Shepherd Geisler. She was married to Fred Asche on February 14, 1942 and he preceded her in death on April 3, 1990.
Survivors include two sons Jerry (Dosha) Asche of Holton and Alois (Tina) Asche of Osgood; one daughter Patsy Sue (Omar) Bradley of Versailles; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters Freda Ellis and Delta Little both of Madison. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Amelia Holman, and her brothers Leslie, Lester, and Alva Geisler.
Mrs. Asche assisted her husband as a custodian at the Holton School. She had also cared for the elderly in the community and was a homemaker. She was a member of the West Fork Baptist Church and was a 62 year member of the Osgood-Versailles Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services are being held today Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at the West Fork Baptist Church with Pastor Bob McCreary of the Holton Christian Church and Rev. David Blazier of West Fork officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the West Fork Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.

Rebecca "Babe" Rose Johnson, 54, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 10, at 4 p.m. at the Holton Christian Church in Holton. Lovell L. Monroe
Lovell L. Monroe, 85, of Versailles, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born near Osgood on February 12, 1925, the son of John and Hazel Denning Monroe. He was married to Virginia Adams on November 8, 1947 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, David (Lesley) Monroe of Butlerville; three daughters, Darlene (Earl) Ogata of Lexington, KY, Diann (Rick) Marksberry of Florence, KY and Debbie (Cleon) McIntyre of Berea, KY; 20 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Lowell Monroe and Russell Monroe, and his sisters Virginia Baker and Iris Howlett.
Mr. Monroe was a 1946 graduate of Osgood High School and was a Navy veteran of WWII where he served in the Long Beach, California and Guam Hospitals. He retired in 1990 from the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center after 33 years as an x-ray technician. He had also been employed with the Rush Memorial Hospital and the Bartholomew County Hospital.
Mr. Monroe was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, trustee, moderator, and choir member. He was also a member of the Versailles American Legion. He had served as a Cub Scout leader, 4H project leader, and also as a trustee for Family Connections.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Cantrel and Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Rock Cemetery near Osgood with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and also from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until time of services at the church.
Memorials may be given to the church building fund or the Southeastern Indiana Baptist Youth Camp in care of the funeral home.
