According
to information from Batesville Police Chief Stan Holt, a stabbing
is being investigated that occurred Sunday night, March 14.
Chief Holt said officers responded to a call to the dispatch center
that came from the Margaret Mary Hospitals emergency room
about 8:00 p.m. reporting a 20-year-old man came in with a stab
wound.
Sergeant Doug Wolfer and Patrolman Jamie Straber responded to
the call and met with the victim, who was identified as Shey Gorsuch.
The officers saw that Gorsuch had a severe stab wound to his abdomen.
Gorsuch told police he was at his residence on Herman Street in
Batesville, when he got into an altercation with a 17-year-old
male family member. He told the officers that he was stabbed and
the relative left the home in a vehicle.
Additional Batesville officers were called out to assist in the
investigation and to search for the suspect.
About 9:22 p.m. the suspect was seen in a vehicle traveling southbound
on Huntersville Road at the intersection of Columbus Avenue. Several
officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and took the
juvenile suspect into custody without incident. The suspect was
detained at the Dearborn County Juvenile Detention Center on preliminary
charges of Aggravated Battery.
The officers worked until about 2:00 a.m. Monday morning processing
the crime scene, interviewing the witnesses and following up on
the investigation, according to Chief Holt.
