Appointing individuals to represent the town of Osgood was the order of business for the first regular Osgood Town Council meeting of 2010 on Tuesday, January 19. Tammy Wilhoit was unanimously appointed to the Southeastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission board and Ed Newman was re-appointed to the Ripley County Area Planning Commission.

Fundraising requests were heard. The motion to allow the organization “Giving Hearts to Dylan” to collect donations at the stoplight on January 23 was unanimously approved. The board also approved the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary to sell poppies at the stoplight on May 15.

In other business:

• The motion to change employee health insurance to Anthem Health Insurance was unanimously approved.

• George Bultman and Phil Mohr, Ripley County Park Board members, requested to separate the outside hydrants from the main meter, which has a wastewater charge. The request will be looked into by the Osgood Water Department.

• Brenda Wetzler, Ripley County Economic Development Board, updated the council on acquiring a sign for the industrial park. She is currently looking into several sign companies as well as someone to help design a prototype.

All board members were in attendance as well as town attorney Mary Ann Gay to advise.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 16 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Osgood Town Hall.
