Lee Grigsby
Lee Grigsby, 85, of Versailles, passed away on
Monday, May 26, 2008 at St. Vincents Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born at Hazard in Perry County, Kentucky on June 19,
1922, the son of Monroe and Susan Noble Grigsby. He married
Catherine Chandler on July 19, 1947 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Ernie (Denise) Grigsby of Kent;
one daughter, Cheryl (Leigh) Steele of Benham; four grandchildren;
four great grandchildren; and one sister, Nona Adams of Bennington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ned, Herbert,
Will, and Alonzo Grigsby.
Mr. Grigsby was a Navy veteran of WWII. He served as a gunners
mate on the USS Yorktown where he participated in the Battle
of Midway and the Philippine Islands Liberation Campaign. He
was awarded two Silver Stars and also one Bronze Star for his
service. He was a member of the Versailles American Legion.
He was a retired farmer, a former employee of Seagrams,
and along with his wife had owned and operated G&G Sporting
Goods in Versailles.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30 at 11 a.m. at
the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev.
Karen Reynolds of the New Marion Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison
with military honors by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation
is being held today, Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be
given to the New Marion Baptist Church in care of the funeral

Ruth Gloyd
Ruth C. Gloyd, 98, of Osgood, passed away Saturday, May 24,
2008 at the Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born near Batesville
on January 10, 1910, the daughter of Charles and Anna Buchold
Baylor. She was married to Oran Gloyd on November 21, 1926 and
he preceded her in death on January 16, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Bill (Sandra) Gloyd of Osgood and
Larry (Del) Gloyd of Rockford, Illinois; one daughter, Marjorie
Crum of Milan; one brother Chester (Ruth) Baylor of Milan; nine
grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter
Lisa Gloyd, her son-in-law Norman Crum, her sisters Marie LeGrand,
Elsie Wysong, Opal Booher and Martha Felix and her brothers
Leo and Charles Baylor.
Mrs. Gloyd owned and operated along with her husband, Gloyds
Hardware in Osgood for several years and she was also a homemaker.
She was a 63-year member of the First Baptist Church in Osgood
and was a 55-year member of the Osgood and Versailles Chapter
of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 28 at 11 a.m. with
Rev. Don Buck officiating. Burial was in the Greendale Cemetery
at Osgood.
Memorials may be given to the Osgood First Baptist Church or
to the Greendale Cemetery in care of Stratton-Karsteter Funeral
Home, Versailles.
Walter John Fruechtenicht
Walter John Fruechtenicht passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008.
He was born in Spades, Ripley County, the son of John Frederick
and Anna Arend Fruechtenicht. He married Clara von Gunten and
after 35 years of marriage she preceded him in death in 1969.
He married Florence Nussbaum von Gunten and after 34 years of
marriage she preceded him in death in 2005.
Survivors include daughter, Carole (James) Fruechtenicht Meikle
of Fort Wayne; son, Thomas (Jane) Fruechtenicht of Indianapolis;
step-children, Fred von Gunten of Florida and Ann von Gunten
Roof of Illinois; five grandchildren; 16 step grandchildren;
30 great grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and many cousins,
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother,
Ervin of Napoleon.
Mr. Fruechtenicht graduated from Osgood High School and Anthony
Wayne College. He retired after 35 years of service at General
Electric. He volunteered at Lutheran Hospital for 30 years.
He was a Diamond Pin donor at Fort Wayne Blood Bank. Walter
celebrated his 100th birthday in October with family and friends.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, June
1 at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home in Fort
Wayne. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2, at 11
a.m. at First Missionary Church in Fort Wayne with visitation
one hour prior to services. Pastor Jim Johnson will officiate.
Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may
be given to the First Missionary Church, Kingston Residence
or your favorite charity.
Edwin J. Stevens
Edwin J. (Ed) Stevens, 83, of Moores Hill, died Saturday, May
24, 2008 at the Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. He was
born October 9, 1924 near Chesterville, the son of Clarence
Edgar and Lula Jane (Houston) Stevens.
Survivors include two brothers, Clayton Stevens and Harold (Bud)
Stevens both of Moores Hill and one sister, Emma Weber of Harrison,
Ohio. Four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Stevens was a retired employee of Seagrams Distillery.
He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of the Moores Hill American
Legion Post #209, 40&8 and the Aurora VFW.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at the
Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home, Moores Hill with Rev. Rick Burcham
officiating. Burial was in the Union Cemetery in Moores Hill
with military graveside rites conducted by the Moores Hill American
Legion.
Memorials may be made to the Moores Hill Legion, Cancer Fund
or Union Cemetery or the 40&8.
Wendell K. Bolin
Wendell K. Bolin, 90, of Sunman, passed away on Monday, May
26, 2008. Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from 4-8
p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Sunman with funeral services on
Friday at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in
the St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman. Memorials may be given to any
Veterans Organization for Veterans Services.
Philip L. Robinson
Philip L. Robinson, 85, of Muncie, passed away on Monday, May
5, 2008 at his home. He was born in Clinton County on March
2, 1923, the son of Jesse and Edris Cox Robinson. He has been
married to Meredith Cunningham Robinson for nearly sixty-one
years, and she survives.
Other survivors include three children: Christine Robinson,
Philip L. (Patricia) Robinson Jr., and Kenneth Robinson (Michele),
grandson: Kevin Robinson; sister: Mary Jane Davis; and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents,
daughter Marilyn, two sisters and two brothers.
Rev. Robinson was born and raised in Clinton County and graduated
from Sugar Creek High School. He served his country in the United
States Army during WWII and in the Korean War, reaching the
rank of Master Sergeant. During WWII he served at Omaha Beach
and the Battle of the Bulge.
Rev. Robinson was ordained as a minister in 1958. He was a pastor
at America Baptist Churches throughout Indiana, some being Rich
Creek, Scircleville, Rochester, Orestes, Rochville, the Vincennes
area, Milan, Cloverdale and Hopewell. After serving at the Hopewell
Baptist Church he retired and his family moved to Muncie, where
he was living when he passed away. Also he was a camp minister
for special children in the Indian Creek Baptist Youth Camp
in Bedford for several years.
He and his wife were members of the Shawnee Heights Baptist
Church, Retired American Baptist Ministries Association, American
Legion of Gaston and the Midwest Antique Fruit Jar Club where
he served as president.
He owned and operated the only registered fruit jar museum in
the United States and was open to the public daily. The museum
had over 4,000 different jars, and also had a large collection
of jelly jars and lids and over 50 kerosene lanterns and glass
kerosene cans. He used some of his jars in his ministry, which
was titled "Parable of The Jars."
His funeral services were held on May 8, 2008 at the Meeks Mortuary
in Muncie. He was laid to rest in the Kempton Cemetery located
in Kempton, Indiana.
Debra Buffo
Debra Buffo, 57, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, May 25,
2008 at her residence. She was born May 14, 1951 in Indianapolis,
the daughter of Robert (Gene) and Irma (Constant) Pearson. She
married Robert (Bob) Mitchell Buffo and he survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Christopher M. Buffo, Craig
M. (Lisa) Buffo, Curt M. Buffo, five grandchildren, Zerek, Skyler,
Dascha, Dara and Dakota, two sisters, Robin (Bill) Everhart
and Cathy (Glen) Cherry and nephews, T.R. Montgomery and Blake
Everhart.
Mrs. Buffo was a homemaker and a member of the Central Christian
Church of Seymour.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30 at 1 p.m. at
the Voss Chapel, Seymour with Bill Everhart and Jon Carlstrom
officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery with
a Voss Dove Tribute.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Thursday, May 29 from 4
8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Memorials may be made to the Benjamin Everhart Memorial Scholarship
Fund.
Charles A. "Tony" Fink
Charles A. "Tony" Fink, 35, of Milan, died Sunday,
May 25, 2008 in Choskoton, Ohio as a result of a motorcycle
accident. He was born April 5, 1973 in Dearborn County, the
son of Charles L. and Barbara (Cloud) Fink.
Survivors include parents, Charles and Bonnie (Cole) Fink of
Milan; five brothers, Rick Ridner of Versailles, Randy Ridner
of Connersville, Kevin Ridner of Aurora, Rob Ridner of Milan,
Jim Cole of Versailles; two sisters Debbie Geisting of Indianapolis
and Sandy Marquardt of Napoleon.
Mr. Fink was a union carpenter of Safeway Company and a member
of the carpenters union.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, May 29 from 6-8 p.m.
at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan. Funeral services
will be held Friday, May 30 at 11 a.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist
Church in Milan with Pastor Rick Mosley officiating. Memorials

Lucion "Luke" Lunsford, 65, of Moores Hill, died Monday,
May 26, 2008. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday,

Joan Rita Murphy
Joan Rita Murphy, 43, of Moores Hill, died Tuesday,
May 20, 2008 in Milan. She was born December 15, 1964 in Dayton,
Kentucky, the daughter of Russell and Joan (Dailey) Murphy.
Survivors include her fi-ancé James Conliff of Moores
Hill; two sons, Pat-rick Sevier of Lawrenceburg and Brian Sevier
of Osgood; two daughters, Kelly Born-tager of Milan and Amanda
Street of Kansas; two broth-ers, Daniel Murphy of Lex-ington,
Kentucky and Rick Murphy of Florida; one sis-ter, Kate Crowder
of Taylor Mill, Kentucky and three grandchildren.
Ms. Murphy was of the Catholic faith and was a US military veteran
serving dur-ing Desert Storm. She was a cook at Brownings
Camp-ground.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 22, 6-8 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore
Funeral Home, Milan. Funeral services will be held Friday, May
23, at 1 p.m. at the Bowling Funeral Home in London, Kentucky
with Father Charles Howell officiating. Burial will follow in
the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, London, Kentucky with military serv-ices.

Harold Mobrley
Harold Mobrley, 66, of Elrod passed away Tuesday,
May 13, 2008 at his home. He was born in Cincinnati on December
26, 1941 the son of Eugene and Fanny McIntosh Mobrley. He was
married to Helen Mobrley on July 4, 1992 and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Darrell (Nancy) Mobrley of
Elrod and Larry (Tina) Mobrley of Milan; two daughters, Kim
(Kevin) Johnson of Milan and Beverly Spurlock of Aurora; one
step-daughter Cathy (Van) Mason of Pike Road, Alabama; two step-sons
David (Nancy) Bull of Montgomery, Alabama and Gary ( LeAnne)
Bull of Lowndesboro, Alabama; fourteen grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren; one brother Vernon Mobrley of Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by one brother and his parents.
Mr. Mobrley was a metal pattern maker for Reliable Casting Company
in Cincinnati for 38 years. He was a member of the Hope Baptist
Church and the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge in Cincinnati.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15 at 1 p.m. at
the Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro with Tom Holt officiating.
Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery in Elrod. Visitation
will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the
church. Memorials may be given to the Milan Fire Department
or the Margaret Mary Hospice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles.
Rita Young
Rita Young, 79, of Napoleon, passed away on Wednesday,
May 14, 2008, at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She
was born near Millhousen on June 26, 1928, the daughter of Lawrence
and Catherine Menkedick Duerstock. She married Alfred Young
on June 15, 1949 and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Larry (Pam) Young and Dale
Young, both of Napoleon; two daughters, Janice (Kenny) Fry and
Nancy (Bob) Obermeyer, both of Napoleon; eight grandchildren
and seven great grandchildren; five brothers, Vincent (Ann)
Duerstock of Shelbyville, Urban Duerstock of Greensburg, Cyril
Duerstock of Napoleon, Marvin (Sabra) Duerstock of Guilford,
and Kenny (Caroline) Duerstock of Batesville; one sister Helen
Tebbe of Orlando, Florida. She was preceded in death by her
parents, her grandson Brian Obermeyer, daughter-in-law Debbie
Young, her brother Norbert Duerstock, and her sister Margaret
Bedel.
Mrs. Young was a homemaker and a member of St. Maurice Catholic
Church where she participated in the NCCW of Napoleon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 17 at
10 a.m. at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon with Father
Rob Hankee officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles. Rosary services will be conducted
at 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given
to the St. Maurice Building Fund.

Alberta Berry, 85, of Moores Hill, passed away on Sunday, May

David A. Yeomans, Jr.
David A. Yeomans, Jr., 73, of Versailles, passed
away on Monday, April 28, 2008 at the Margaret Mary Community
Hospital in Batesville. He was born in Boston on May 2, 1934,
the son of David Sr. and Edith Young Yeomans. He married Juanita
Lovins on January 16, 1967 and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Danita Yeo-mans of Versailles
and Robin (Steve) Fischer of Sunman; grandchildren Cory Yeomans,
Lauren Copeland, Evan, Kyla, and Jalyn Fischer; one great-granddaughter
Alexa Yeo-mans; two brothers, Kenneth Yeomans of Boston and
Richard Yeomans of Med-way, MA; four sisters, Linda Walsh and
Marilyn Morgan both of Boston, Betty Bow-dish of New Mexico,
and Edith Jasnocha of Arizona.
Mr. Yeomans was a Navy veteran, retiring in 1977 after serving
20 years. During his career in the Navy he was qualified as
a Radarman First Class, Antisubmarine Air Controller, Air Intercept
Controller, Operations Spe-cialist First Class, and retired
as a Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Yeomans was twice awarded the
Navys Good Conduct Award. After his Navy career he worked
in quality control for the Batesville Casket Company.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, at 10 a.m. at
the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev.
Rick Burcham officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery
in Versailles with military graveside rites by the Versailles
American Legion. Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from
5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery or
Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.
