Emma Marie Shook Ridenour
Emma Marie Shook Ridenour, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at her home. She was born near Cross Plains on April 27, 1934, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Whitham Shook.
Survivors include two daughters, Jackie (Frank) de Moss of Beech Bluff, TN, and Trina (Danny) Lockart of Indianapolis; one granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Lockart of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Virginia Shook of Osgood; nieces, Cheryl Bentley, Wanda Shook, Libby Updike, and Donna Marie Shade. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lorraine Francis Shook, and her brothers Lawrence and Roscoe Shook.
Ms. Ridenour attended the Cross Plains school and was a 1952 graduate of Central High School in Madison. She was a 40 year employee for the telephone companies of Western Electric, Pacific Tel, Southern Bell, and Indiana Bell. She had formerly lived in Los Angeles, Salinas, California, Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and Bryson City, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to Father Flanagan’s Boys Town or the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Brenda Kathryn Thomas, 57, of Penntown, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2008. Gladys Steele Palmer
Gladys Steele Palmer, 82, of Osgood, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Waters of Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born at Osgood on June 26, 1925, the daughter of Clyde and Bertha Rose Webster. She was married to Albert Steele and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1987. She was married to Sylvanus Palmer in 1996 and he survives.
Other survivors include five sons, Ralph (Charlotte) Steele of Fairland, Leigh (Cheryl) Steele of Versailles, Glen (Brenda) Steele of Versailles, Norman Steele of Stanford, North Carolina and Terry Steele of Indianapolis; one daughter, Sandy (Paul) Clayton of Holton; one step-daughter, Betty Culp of Oregon City, Oregon; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one brother, Earl (Betty) Beach of Midway, Ohio; and one sister, Esther Delay of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter-in-law Jean, grandson Jeff Steele, and great grandson Rion Dale Steele.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Versailles Church of Christ. She was a former employee of US Shoe in Osgood and retired in 1988 after 18 years as a dietician at the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 12 at the Versailles Church of Christ with Dale Day officiating. Burial was in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Stephanie Marie Gould, 16, of New Alsace, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2008 in Hamilton County, Ohio. She was born on January 15, 1992 in Batesville, the daughter of Debbie Oswald Hoffmeier and Richard Gould.
Survivors include her mother and step-father, Debbie and Scott Hoffmeier of New Alsace; brother, Michael Hoffmeier; father and step-mother, Richard and Cindy Gould of Sunman; sister, Maurissa Amhrein; grandparents, Bill and Shirley Oswald of Batesville, Lester and Laverene Hoffmeier of New Alsace, Curtis and Alice Hicks of Versailles, Richard Gould, Sr., of Sunman, and Ed and Joan Gindling of Sunman; and great grandmother Lavanna Fritsch of New Alsace.
Miss Gould was a sophomore at East Central High School in St. Leon, where she was a member of the soccer team and the Elite LGSC Roadrunners.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14 from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Sunman. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in New Alsace, with Rev. Brian Esarey, Pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church. Harry D. Minor, III, 65, of Versailles, formerly of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon with Rev. Dick Burcham officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to time of service on Saturday. Memorials may be given to the Hospice of Jennings County. Mary Elizabeth Karsteter
Mary Elizabeth Karsteter, 95, of Lawrenceburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Woodland Hill Nursing Center in Lawrenceburg. She was born at Rising Sun on April 27, 1913, the daughter of Henry Earl and Grace Hanna Williams. She was married to A. Creighton "Peck" Karsteter on November 14, 1931 and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2001.
Survivors include one son, A. Steven (Sue) Karsteter of Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Barbara Harrison of Lawrenceburg and Patricia (Rodney) Kinzer of The Villages, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her great grandson, Matthew Kinzer.
Mrs. Karsteter was a 1931 graduate of Rising Sun High School. She had attended Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and Purdue University. She was a homemaker, loving mother, wonderful grandmother, an avid bridge player, and a member of the Bright Christian Church. She was also a 75-year member of Tri-Kappa and had been a 20-year volunteer for the Dearborn County Welfare Department.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 26 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Mark Fugate officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemtery at Aurora. Memorials may be given to the Lawrenceburg Public Library, Tri-Kappa Memorial Fund, or P.A.W.S. in care of the funeral home.

Leon Cole
Leon Cole, 67, of Versailles, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at his home. He was born at Osgood on January 28, 1941, the son of Lawrence and Ruth Hardebeck Cole.
Survivors include his mother Mrs. Ruth Cole of Holton; two sons, Dwayne (Marci) Cole of Hanover, Joe (Saradee) Cole of Versailles; two daughters, Michelle (Rodney) Sellers and Katrina (Jerry) Keck, both of Versailles; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Lanny (Carolyn) Cole of Canaan; two sisters, Ruth (Phillip) Meisberger of New Marion and Judy (Omer) Powers of Holton. He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Cole was a 1958 graduate of New Marion High School. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the 5th Engineering Batallion. Mr. Cole was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Sharpshooter Badge. He was a self-employed timber buyer and had worked for Tru-Temper in North Vernon. He was a member of the Milan American Legion.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 12 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial was in the Indiana Veterans Cemetery in Madison. Memorials may be given to the Milan American Legion in care of the funeral home.

Colin Ray Rodgers
Colin Ray Rodgers, 42, of Milan, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at his residence in Milan. He was born on December 28, 1965 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Ray H. and Karen (Finn) Rodgers. He married Billie (Lewis) Rodgers on February 10, 2006 and she survives.
Other survivors include son, Colin Rodgers at home; daughters, Ashley, Samantha and Madison Rodgers, all at home; step-children, Brittany and Stevie Ray Beihn, both at home; two grandchildren; father, Ray Rodgers of Milan; brother, Dallas Rodgers Milan; and sister, Lisa Webb of Milan.
Mr. Rodgers was a construction worker for R&R Drywall.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 12, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan, with Father Frank Eckstein officiating. Burial was in the Hogan Hill Cemetery near Moores Hill. Memorials may be given to the family. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan was in charge of arrangements

Firth A. Shelpman
Firth A. Shelpman, 71, of Versailles, passed away Sat-urday, May 3, 2008 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born near Versailles on February 22, 1937 and grew up in the home of Lee and Mary Ann Firth Strubbe. He was married to Karla Naegele on November 26, 1971 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son Fred (Ann) Shelp-man of Cross Plains; one daughter, Dawndalyn (Rob-ert) StMichel of Hayes, VA. and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Shelpman was a 1956 graduate of Versailles High School. He had worked as a meat cutter in the Purdum grocery store in Versailles and also at Braley’s Clover Leaf Store. He retired from the teamsters as a truck driver hauling heavy equipment.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to F.A.M.E. or the Ronald McDonald House in care of the funeral home.

Paul H. "Mike" Stegemiller

Paul H. "Mike" Stegemiller, 89, of Dillsboro, formerly of Farmers Retreat, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Waters of Dillsboro, Ross Manor. He was born May 15, 1918 in Caesar Creek Township to William Stegemiller and Mabel Cutter Stegemiller.
He graduated from Versailles High School in the class of 1936. In 1948 he was united in marriage to Carrie L. Cartwright and she preceded him in death in December 1998. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving his country from 1944-1946. He was a farmer and was a Township Trustee for 12 years in Caesar Creek Township.
Preceding him in death besides his wife, Carrie is three brothers, Herbert "Bud", Francis "Fritz" and Howard "Short" Stegemiller. Surviving are two sisters, Ruth Marsh of Greendale and Jeanette Tufts of Cincinnati; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Stegemiller of Greenwood and Mary Jeanette Stegemiller of Cross Plains; nine nieces and seven nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Internment with full military rites was in the Oakdale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Oakdale Cemetery trust fund.

Marjorie Jean Littell McClain
Marjorie Jean Littell McClain, 78, of Columbus, formerly of Osgood, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born February 11, 1930 in Ripley County, the daughter of Harry Cleveland and Lena Pratt Littell. She married Raymond Stanley McClain on March 29, 1947 and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2007.
Survivors include son, James and wife Holly McClain of Madison, AL., two daughters, Nancy Smith of Muncie, Karen and husband David Akers of Columbus, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Five brothers, Earl, Irving, Cecil, Estell and Norman Littell and two sisters, Mildred Pearl Gilland and Lillian Stahl preceded her in death.
Mrs. McClain had worked at US Shoe in Osgood in the early 1960s and operated the Little Folks Shop in Osgood during the 1960s. She also worked as the Matron and Deputy of the Ripley County Sheriff’s office from 1967-1978. She was a charter member of the FOP of Batesville and was a past member of the Osgood Baptist Church.
A graveside burial will be held Thursday, May 8 at 11 a.m. at the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood.
Memorials may be given to the Osgood Baptist Church or Greendale Cemetery in care of Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood.

Rita Lamping
Rita Lamping, 69, of Milan, passed away May 4, 2008 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born April 24, 1939 in Dearborn County, the daughter of Irvin and Myrtle (Scwipps) Wendelman. She married Raymond Lamping who preceded her in death.
One daughter, Jennifer Hoog of Metamora, two brothers, Kenny Wendelman of Osgood and Jim Wendelman of Sunman and one grandchild survive her.
Mrs. Lamping was retired from Delta Faucet in Greensburg.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7 from 5-7 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Frank Eckstein officiating. Cremation will follow at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Hansen Center in Batesville.

Virginia Race
Virginia (Virgie) Race, 75, of Milan, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. She was born March 18, 1933 in Rising Sun, the daughter of William T. and Anna (O’Neal) McKinley. She married Sherman Mike Race on December 3, 1949 and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Louden of Milan, Mary Ann Williamson of Milan; two brothers, Charles McKinley of Moores Hill, Duane McKinley of Lake Santee; two sisters, Vickie Antras of Versailles, Linda Ratliff of Tennessee; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Her parents, husband and three brothers, Raymond, Ronald, and Kenneth McKinley preceded her in death.
Mrs. Race was a homemaker and a member of the Washington Baptist Church at Elrod and a member of the Milan Senior Citizens.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 6 from 5-8 p.m. at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in the Craven Cemetery, Milan.
Memorials may be given to the Milan Athletic Department or to the Washington Baptist Youth Ministry.

Kathleen Anna Marie Vinup

Kathleen Anna Marie Vinup, 81, of Bloomington, formerly of Friendship, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 in Carmel. She was born October 26, 1926 in Friendship, the daughter of Harold Fisse and Louise Knollman Fisse.
Survivors include daughter, Sandra Kay (Joseph) Young of Carmel, son David lee (Diane) Vinup of Avon, brother, Arnold (Alene) Fisse of Florida, sister, Elda (Bob) Moorman of Jonesville and granddaughter, Danielle Vinup.
Her parents, husband Curtis William Vinup and an infant daughter preceded her in death.
Mrs. Vinup was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Bloomington and also volunteered for the American Cancer Society. She was a homemaker.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Farmers Retreat. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 2 p.m. with Rev. Richard Wilkie officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Farmers Retreat.

Wilma Evelyn Walston
Wilma Evelyn Walston, 82, of Dillsboro, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Waters of Dillsboro. She was born on October 25, 1925 in Sidney, Nebraska, the daughter of Frederick and Clara Reker Bushman. She married Donald Walston on April 8, 1947, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Jay (Melissa) Walston of Dillsboro, and Tim and (Becky) Walston of Versailles; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son- Steven Walston, and one brother- Dale Bushman.
Mrs. Walston resided in Bear Branch during the 1940’s and 1950’s, before moving to Friendship for two years. For the past 47 years, she has been a resident of Dillsboro. During WWII she was employed at Conn Organ Company in Madison and in later years she worked as a clerk at J&J Liquor and at the Drug Store in Dillsboro. She was active in the 50+ club in Dillsboro, and was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was very active in the LWML of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church Improvement Fund or to Dillsboro Emergency Unit. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.

Chase Aaron Carroll
Chase Aaron Carroll, 8 week old son of Aaron Carroll and Brandi Ahrens Eaton, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at Batesville on February 28, 2008.
Survivors include his parents; his twin brother, Lane David Carroll; sisters Taylor Carroll, Madelyn Eaton and Hannah Eaton; paternal grandparents, Dennis and Debbie Carroll of Osgood; maternal grandparents, David and Brenda Ahrens of Batesville; paternal great-grandparents, Rea and Henrietta Carroll of Osgood and Edward and Virginia Schneider of Sunman; maternal great-grandparents, Mervin and Marjorie Ahrens of Batesville and Robert and Barbara Bishop of Moores Hill.

Margaret J. Elsen
Margaret J. Elsen, 61, of Versailles, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at her home. She was born at Beatyville, Kentucky, on October 8, 1946, the daughter of Hallister and Dorothy Perdue Johnson. She married Frank Elsen on May 28, 1963 and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1993.
Survivors include one son, Tony (Candi) Elsen of Versailles; four daughters, Angel (Gary) Hall, Missy Elsen, Lisa (Greg) Fisk, and Lora (Tim) Sexton all of Versailles; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Johnson of Perryville, Missouri and Jesse Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio; six sisters, Etta Hardman, Mary Hobbs, April Hawkins, Cathy Johnson, and Ruth Barrett, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Susie Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Bob Johnson.
Mrs. Elsen was a 1964 graduate of Western Hills High School and received her associates degree from Purdue University. She was employed with Interstate Brands as a District Supervisor retiring in 2004.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 27 at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Randy Thieman of Shelby Christian Church officiated. Patricia A. Sizemore Stuehrenberg
Patricia A. Stuehrenberg, 47, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis. She was born, August 18, 1960 in Batesville, the daughter of Kenneth Sizemore and Edna Mae (Forwalt) Powers and Michael Powers. She was married to Frank Stuehrenberg on September 6, 1997 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Garrett Kieffer and friend Dana Manier, Osgood; one daughter, Angela (Brent) Scudder, Greensburg; four stepchildren, Krista Stuehrenberg, Seymour, Mindy Vogel, Greensburg, Kelsay Stuehrenberg, Greensburg, Chialey Stuehrenberg, Ripley Co.; one brother, Clarence Michael Powers, Greensburg; two half-brothers, Jamie Sizemore, Ripley Co., Kenneth Sizemore, Ripley Co.; nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 29, at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. Stephen B. Westmeyer
Stephen B. Westmeyer, 59, of Paris, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital on October 28, 1948, the son of Jesse and Josephine Curry Westmeyer. He married Ann Barkley on July 18, 1978 and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Westmeyer of KY; his mother, Josephine Westmeyer of Versailles; two brothers, Jesse (Jane) Westmeyer of Versailles and David Westmeyer (Tulin) of KY.
Mr. Westmeyer was a 1966 graduate of Versailles High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University. He owned and operated CS Claims Service in Lexington, KY, an independent claims adjuster. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era.
Mr. Westmeyer was also a member of the Tyson United Methodist Church in Versailles, the Versailles American Legion, Lexington F&AM #1, Henry Clay Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, was past president of the Blue Grass Claims Association, and was a board member of the Northern Kentucky Association of Insurance Professionals.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with military honors by the Versailles American Legion being conducted at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral will follow on Saturday, April 26 at the Milwards Funeral Home, Broadway St., in Lexington, KY, with visitation from 1-3 p.m. and the funeral beginning at 3 p.m. followed by Masonic Services. A private burial will be held at the family’s convenience. Memorials may be given to the Jesse Westmeyer Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.

Marjorie Ann White
Marjorie Ann White, 71, of Batesville, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at her home. She was born on November 29, 1936 in Batesville, the daughter of Harry and Norma (Fritch) Abplanalp. She married Paul White in Batesville on June 18, 1955 and he preceded her in death on December 19, 1975.
Survivors include one daughter, Terry Harmeyer (Kenneth) of Batesville; one son, Michael White of Batesville; three grandchildren: Benjamin, Ethan and Kayla Harmeyer; two great grandchildren: Cassidy and Kendall Harmeyer; brothers: Ronnie Abplanalp of Batesville and David Abplanalp of Columbus; and one sister, Patricia Woolf of Batesville. She was preceded in death by husband and one brother at age 5, Donald Abplanalp.
Mrs. White retired from Batesville Tool and Die and before that she worked at the Sherman House in Batesville. She was a 1955 graduate of Batesville High School and a member of St. Louis Catholic Church.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church with Rev. Rob Hankee officiating. Burial will be in the St. Louis Cemetery. Cleona Sparks
Cleona Sparks, 79, of Osgood, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2008 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born on October 4, 1928 in Kentucky, the daughter of Roosevelt and Susan Winkle Rice. She married Luscill Sparks, Sr., on August 3, 1945 and he survives.
Other survivors include: son, Luscill E. (Cathy) Sparks, Jr. of Milan; daughters: Susan A. Ramsey and Donna J. Winters, both of Greensburg, and Dana F. Owens and special friend Mike Greco of Osgood; brother: Earl Rice of North Vernon; sister: Juanita Hensley of Brookville; 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Florence Dile and Jeanette Powell, and one son, Jeffery Allen Sparks.
Mrs. Sparks was employed at Hillenbrand for about 20 years and Osgood Shoe Factory for ten years. She attended Delaware Methodist Church.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood with burial in the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood. Memorials may be given to the Delaware Methodist Church for Parsonage. Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth W. Wilson, 85, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2008.
Survivors include children, Ben Wilson of Temple Terrace, FL, Roger Wilson of Ohio, Sue Ray (Gary) of Virginia and Morgan Wilson of Texas; grandchildren, Casey Meyer (Chris) of Indiana, Jarrett Ray and Justin Ray, both of Virginia; great grandchildren, Nora Meyer and Henry Meyer, both of Indiana.

Janet LaVerne Wells

Janet LaVerne Wells, 70, of Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Decatur County Hospital in Greensburg. She was born on March 24, 1938 in Pierceville, the daughter of Clifford and Florence (Truitt) Sellers. She married Delmar Wells in 1964 in Hartford City and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sisters: Carolyn Cunningham of Kentucky and Nancy Thola, Osgood; one brother, Clifford Sellers of Illinois; first cousin and close friend, Marilyn Reynolds of Milan; one step-daughter, Susan Burton of Greensburg; several step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son- Michael McKee; one step grandchild and two step great grandchildren.
Mrs. Wells served in the Women’s Army Corp. from 1959-1961. She was a member of the American Legion Post 129, Am Vets, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #927.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no public visitation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.

C. Risk Bentley
C. Risk Bentley, 93, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Lexington Medical Extended Care in South Carolina. He was born on February 4, 1915 in Madison, the son of Charles T. and Mary Risk Bentley. He married Opal L. An-derson on February 6, 1935 and she preceded him in death on May 5, 1995.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald G. (Connie) Bentley of Madison and David R. (Alice) Bentley of South Carolina; daughter, Carol Ann (Howard) Barr of Versailles; brother, Roy (Kay) Bentley of Madison; sister, Mary Ruth Combs of Columbus; ten grandchildren, Donald A. (Wendy) Bentley, James Darin (Melissa) Bentley, Gregory Alan (Jessica) Bentley, Jill (Michael) Christian, David Lewis (Tera) Bentley, Judith (Michael) Whisman, Isaac (Missy) Bentley, Howard "Spud" (Nancy) Barr, Rebecca (Brian) Brashear; 25 great grandchildren: Donald A., Jr., Darin, Corey, Colin, Calyb, Camden, Amber, Andrew, Gary, Alison, Brianna, Bell, Stephen, Hope, Grace, Faith, Adam, Jeremy, Jessica, Jason, Leah, Eryn, Echo, Logan and Heath; four great grandchildren: Jordan, Jadan, Desire and Isabelle; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son: Charles James Bentley.
Mr. Bentley was raised in Madison, residing there nearly all of his life. He was a 1933 graduate of North Madison High School and had attended Hanover Col-lege. He had a great love of flying airplanes and began flying in the early 1930’s receiving his pilot’s license on July 28, 1946. He was a charter member of Operating Engineers Local 181, Indiana and Kentucky, and was one of the oldest members. He began a career as a heavy equipment operator in 1947, with L.P. Cavett Construction Company, working his way up to a superintendent, retir-ing in 1977. He also was a heavy equipment operator helping to construct the Jef-ferson Proving Ground dur-ing World War II and was also sent to help construct the Hope Arkansas Proving Ground.
Mr. Bentley was a faithful member of the North Madison Christian Church in Madison. He had also been a member of the Masonic Lodge. After his health began to fail he moved to Little Mountain, South Carolina to reside with his son.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 14 at North Madison Christian Church in Madison. David R. Bentley and Bro. Bob Hicks officiated. Burial was in the Hebron Cemtery near Madison. Robert "Bob" Milbourn, 67, of Milan passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Manderley Health Care in Osgood. Arrangements are pending at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan.

Brian Sullivan
Brian Sullivan, 32, a lifelong Dillsboro resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Dearborn County Hospital. He was born on July 28, 1975 in Lawrenceburg, the son of William "Ron" Sullivan and Janice Kuhlman Sullivan. He married Cassie Abele on April 26, 1997, and even though they divorced, they remained close friends and wonderful parents to their children.
Survivors include: his mother, Janice Sullivan of Dillsboro; two children: Jackson Hunter Sullivan and Emma Makenzie Sullivan; brother, Jason Mark Sullivan; and close friend Cassie Abele. He was preceded in death by his father, and his grandparents, Harold and Sadie Kuhlman and John and Helen Creech.
Mr. Sullivan was a graduate of Dearborn County High School and was a former volunteer fireman for Dillsboro Fire Department. He was a member of Masons and American Legion Post #292 and was employed at Lawrenceburg Distillery as a supervisor.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with full military honors from the American Legion Post 292. Memorials may be given to the family. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.

Wilfred T. "Bill" Negley
Wilfred T. "Bill" Negley, 80, of Pierceville, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Ripley Crossing at Milan. He was born on November 30, 1927 at Aurora, the son of Tandy and Gladys (Hountz) Negley. He married Maxine (Ohl) Negley on August 21, 1954 and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2002.
Survivors include sons, Robert (Janet) Negley of Milan and John (Jennifer) Negley of Milan, and two grandchildren.
Mr. Negley was in the construction business for 21 years and later retired from Seagrams. He was a member of the Pierceville United Methodist Church and was a WWII Veteran having served in both the US Army and the US Army Air Corps.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 14, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Rev. Jack Bible and Rev. Charles Miller officiated. Burial was in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Amos E. McClellan

Amos E. McClellan, 76, of Franklin, formerly a long time resident of Dillsboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the Waters of Dillsboro. He was born on September 2, 1931 in Ohio County, the son of Haskell and Helen Hall McClellan. He married Dorothy Myers in April 1962 and she preceded him in death in July 1994.
Survivors include daughter, Gayla (Gary) Scott and grandson, Zachary of Dillsboro; granddaughter, Stacy (Sam) McConnell of Fairfield, Ohio; great granddaughter, Natalie McConnell; two brothers Lowell McClellan of Butlerville and Robert (Sue) McClellan of Greenfield; two dear friends: Leon McGuire and Carol Lower of Franklin; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Paul and Leroy.
Mr. McClellan was a partner of the former AE Pitcher Construction Company; a member of the Trafalgar United Methodist Church; Murat Shrine and a past president of the Director’s Staff. He was a member of Johnson County Shrine, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, Southport Lodge #270 F & AM, and the Royal Order of Jesters.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 12 at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Judy Ryle
Judy Ryle, 63, of Batesville, formerly of Milan, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born at Saratoga, IN on September 18, 1944, the daughter of Delbert and Margurite Clear Isenbarger. She married William Ryle on August 13, 1974 and he survives.
Other survivors include one daughter Shelly Winters of Batesville; one son, Brian (Kim) Romack of Cross Plains; grandchildren: Madison Winters and Clay Romack; her parents Delbert and Margurite Isenbarger of Saratoga.
Mrs. Ryle was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Batesville and had worked as an aide for the Milan School Corporation.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, at 11 a.m. at the Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro with Bro. Tom Holt and Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill. Nancy Pearl Bowling
Nancy Pearl Bowling, 86, of Versailles, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at her home. She was born at Oneida in Clay County, Kentucky, on October 25, 1921, the daughter of Elza and Minnie Webb. She was married to Sulvan Bowling on September 28, 1943 and he preceded her in death on August 13, 1974.
Survivors include four sons, Richard (Diana) Bowling of Lebanon, Ohio, Sulvan Bowling, Jr. of Dillsboro, Michael (Barbra) Bowling of French Lick, and James (Vonda) Bowling of Moorefield; one daughter Betty Jo (Gene) Copeland of Breckenridge, Colorado; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one sister, Elva Reed of Oneida, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers and sisters, and her grandson, Michael Bowling, Jr.
Mrs. Bowling was a 1939 graduate of the Oneida Baptist Institute and attended the Fugaci School of Business in Lexington. She was a member of the Trinity Christian Center in Lawrenceburg and attended the Washington Baptist Church in Elrod. She was a former employee of the Delaney Wood Heel Factory in Versailles and retired in 1997 and 21 years as a cook at the South Ripley Elementary School in Versailles.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, April 8 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Bob Brigman of the Trinity Christian Center officiating. Mildred A. (Nettie) Brunner

Mildred A. (Nettie) Brunner, 82, of Indianapolis, formerly of Versailles, passed away on March 25, 2008. She was married to Glenn T. Brunner who preceded her in death in 1980.
Survivors include daughters: Mary L. Mathis, Bonnie S. Cornn, Janet Christie, Tammy Brunner; sons: David Brunner and John Brunner; 17 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, March 29 at St. Monica Catholic Church in Indianapolis and St. John Catholic Church in Osgood with burial at the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison.

Georgia Lee Centers, 62, of Rising Sun, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at her home. She was born on September 27, 1945 at Batesville the daughter of Everett and Betty Jean Stoneking Cox. She married Donald Centers on October 13, 2007 and he survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Rae Jean Auterson and husband, Michael of Versailles; one sister, Connie Dytmire of South Carolina; two brothers, Paul Cox and Manis Cox both of Florida; two half-brothers Ralph Breeding and Andy Breeding, both of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her son Randall Wayne Nealis, her parents, and her brother Damon Cox.
Mrs. Centers was a 1964 graduate of Holton High School. She was employed with Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun and had been formerly employed with SETA and the Ripley County Welfare Department. She was a member of the Holton Christian Church, Versailles Chapter of the Eastern Star, and the Rising Sun American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. James Byerly of the Tyson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Louise Clark

Louise Clark, 64, of Osgood, passed away on April 3, 2008 at her residence. She was born on January 13, 1944 in Covington, Kentucky, the daughter of Johnnie and Myrtle Poindexter Hammons. She married Lester Clark, Sr., and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughter, Lisa Quade, of Osgood; sons, Lester Clark, Jr., of Osgood and James Dornbusch of Covington, Ky.; six grandchildren: Rick, Jennifer, and Eli Eckerle and Jeremy, Daniel and Matthew Dornbusch; four step-grandchildren: Nona King, Andrew Oaldon, Christopher Oaldon and John Batterton; one great grandchild; five step-great grandchildren; sister, June Goff of Burnell, Fl.; and brothers, Bill Hammons of Osgood and Clarence Hammons of Burnell, Fl. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and nine sisters and brothers.
Mrs. Clark was a homemaker.

Howard Dean Bloss, Jr.
Howard Dean Bloss, Jr., 72, of Milan, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was born on December 8, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Howard Dean and Marjorie (Blake) Bloss, Sr.
Survivors include loving companion, Mari Anne Wiggers; two sons, Howard Dean (Julie) Bloss III of Cincinnati, Ohio and Robert Byron Bloss of Georgetown, Ohio; daughter, Teresa (Vernon) Smith of Chesapeake, Ohio; one brother, Robert W. (Donna) Bloss of Newburgh; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Bloss received his Bachelors of Arts degree from Morehead State University and received his Masters of Education from the University of Cincinnati. He taught and coached at Georgetown, Ohio; Hammersville, Ohio; Norwood View; was later principal of the Osgood Elementary School; served as superintendent at Pekin and later at Milan Community Schools for seven years. After leaving Milan, Mr. Bloss served as principal of Holy Redeemer Grade School in Evansville; served as superintendent of South Newton County School Corp. at Kentland, and superintendent of Metropolitan School District of Shakamak in Jasonville. After retirement, he worked at the Community Mental Health Center in Batesville.
Mr. Bloss was a member of the Methodist Church, Milan Masonic Lodge #31; past president of the Milan Lions Club. He was one of the founding members of the Milan Community Park, a member of the scholarship committee of the Ripley County Community Foundation, a member of the Indiana Superintendents Association of Public Schools and the Indiana School Board Association.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4 from 5-8 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. No funeral services. Burial will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery in Booneville.
