2006 M.I.S.T. participants are excited, aggressive,
disciplined and impressive

These are but a few of the terms supporters use
to describe the (MIST) Milan Indian Swim Team. Paula Karsteter
reports the team roster for 2006 and shared some updates as
were available about the team's events thus far in the new season.
The team consists of 73 members between the ages of 4 &
18 and this year includes: Sarah Ake, Lydia Asbury, Patrick
Baker, Danielle Baugh, Jacob Baugh, Alex Billingsley, Marisa
Combs, Brett Cook, Brianna Crawley, Zoe Despres, Michaela Diem,
Natalie Douglas, Shelby Egbert, Elizabeth Elmer, Michael Elmer,
Hayley Fossett, Josh Gardner, Kaleigh Gardner, Anthony Grippo,
Larry Grippo, Lauren Grippo, Steven Gutzwiller, Brook Lynn Halcomb,
Kiera Hall, Natalie Hardy, Bradlee Heath, Alex Hooker, Dustin
Hornberger, Liz Houze, Ciera Ison, Keana Ison, Kolton Ison,
Kurtis Kimla, Christine Lamar, Luke Lamar, Sam Layden, Cody
Marsee, Tatiana Marsee, Ashley McClanahan, Elise Meyer, Tyler
Mills, Jessica Nichols, Arielle Noel, Kaleigh Ollman, Staci
Ollman, Darian Owens, Desiree Parsons, Destini Parsons, Russell
Pitts, Chyenne Reese, Dillon Richardson, Devin Riley, Madelynn
Roell, Elijah Roepke, Devon Rosenbarger, Sydney Ross, Casey
Ryan, Danielle Schaeffer, Seth Schutte, Molly Scudder, Elizabeth
Smith, Rachel Smith, Emily Snyder, Ashley Stenger, Makenzie
Stratton, Jared Sutton, Samuel Thompson, Olivia Voss, Carter
Wade, Cooper Wade, Heath Weston, Hayley Zornes and Shelby Zornes.
The coaches for this year's team include Zach Wade, Rhonda Goodpaster,
and Sarah Kraushar.
On Thursday, June 1, MIST competed with Lawrenceburg at Milan,
claiming 954 points to Lawrenceburg's 276 for the meet.
On Monday, June 12, MIST competition slated them at home against
the Hidden Valley Gators with the final score recorded giving
Milan 950 points to the Gator's 482.
The next scheduled competition for MIST is set for Monday, June
19, at 5:30 pm at the Batesville Memorial Pool against the Batesville
swimmers.

Eagle bats continue to stir the summer air

Coach David Bradshaw's Eagle baseball summer
league team is wasting no time getting a leg up on competitors.
The Eagles' winning drive has taken them to victory in three
straight games. The first against the Milan Indians on Wednesday,
June 7, where the Eagles won by a 16-6 score. They followed
on Saturday, June 10 with a double header victory over Rushville
by scores of 9-3 and 15-5.
The Milan Game
The Indians rallied to score 3 runs in the top of the first
inning after sending 7 batters to the plate. However, the Eagle
response was to even the score with 3 runs of their own by the
end of the first. The Eagles likewise sent 7 batters to the
plate, opening their at bat with David Busch, fielding at second
base. Justin Huff, the left fielder, followed in the second
batting position. Brandon Gehl opened for the Eagles from the
mound and batted in the third spot. Tucker Brown held the clean
up position in the line-up and played first base on defense.
Daniel Leonetti batted in the #5 spot and caught. Blake Sutton
handled the short stop duties, Eric Horan took right field,
Aaron Harmeyer was the center fielder, Matt Gehl covered third
base, Brock Billman and Andrew Huff assumed roles as EH.
The Indians scored 1 in the second inning and 2 in the top of
the fifth for a total of 6 for the game. The Eagles added 6
in the second, were scoreless in the third, added 3 in the fourth
and closed the game with a 10 run win in the bottom of the fifth
adding 4 for a 16-6 final score.
Rushville -
First Game of Double Header
The Lions' battery were held scoreless through 5 innings before
scoring one run in the sixth and adding a pair in the seventh
for a total of 3 in the opening game. The Eagles opened their
half of the first inning putting 3 runs on the books while sending
7 batters to the plate, added 3 more of the next 7 batters in
the second, and were held scoreless in the third, batting only
four.
In the fourth, the Eagles were again held scoreless, but in
the fifth added 1. In the sixth, a pair of runs crossed the
plate for the Eagle victory for a final score of 9-3.
Rushville -
Second Game of Double Header
The Lions scored first to open the second game of the double
header with JCD. They added 3 in the second inning, and were
held scoreless in the third and fourth before scoring their
final run in the top of the fifth inning.
The Eagles' bats sang as David Busch, Justin Huff, and Daniel
Leonetti both crossed the plate in the first inning for 3 runs.
The 3 RBI's were posted by Tucker Brown, Brandon Gehl, and Blake
Sutton.
The Eagles batted 7 batters in each of their first three first
inning appearances. Failing to score in the second inning, 11
runs were added in the third and 1 more in the fourth for a
total of 15, cutting the game short on the 5 inning-10 run rule.
Final score JCD 15 - Rushville 5.
