Betty Lou Goodpaster
Betty Lou Goodpaster, 66, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. She was born in Warsaw, KY, on August 13, 1939, the daughter of Goble and Dorothy (Sturgens) Kinman, . She married Ernest Goodpaster on September 15, 1956, and he survives.
Survivors also include sons and daughters-in-law Earl and Shirley of Batesville; Ernest, Jr. and Tammy of Brookville; and Jeffrey and Marilyn of Greensburg; daughters Barbara and husband Joe Dickman of Batesville; and Carolyn Napier of Milan; special friend Clayton Goodpaster; brother Ernie Kinman of Milan; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons Clint and Robert Goodpaster; and brothers Larry and Bill Kinman.
Mrs. Goodpaster was a former employee of Campbell Hausfeld and Schenley Distillers.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Burial will be at the New Craven Cemetery, Milan.
Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Harold "Skip" Randall Breckel
Harold "Skip" Randall Breckel, 79, of Healdton, OK, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, died November 17, 2005. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 26 at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Ulrich-Filter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Gene Bishop
Gene Bishop, 71, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born at Greensburg on July 5, 1934 the son of Stanley and Lillian Powers Bishop. He was married to Norma Lamb and she preceded him in death on November 6, 1980.
Survivors include four sons, Bill and Martha Bishop of Milan, Mike and Peggy Bishop of Versailles, Jamey and Tammy Bishop of Versailles, and John and Evonee Bishop of Camp Pendleton, California; two daughters, Nancy Braley and her husband Bruce of New Paris, Pennsylvania and Amy Parker and her husband Ryan of Osgood; his mother-in-law Mrs. Beulah Lamb of Versailles; one brother Lee Bishop of Versailles; one sister Charlene Keck of Osgood; special friend Wilma Jolly and her children Caitlyn and Austin of Versailles; 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Betty Hicks. Mr. Bishop was a self-employed trucker for 26 years and served as street commissioner and Water superintendent for the town of Versailles for 20 years. He had also served as maintenance supervisor for the Ripley County Courthouse since 1999. He was a member of the Tyson United Methodist Church in Versailles.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 21st at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev.Michael Hendrix and Rev. Phil Porter officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Saturday from 3pm to 7pm.
Memorials may be given to the Tyson United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.

Tonya Jo Peetz
Tonya Jo Peetz, 43, of Osgood, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers, Indianapolis. She was born July 8, 1962 at Batesville, the daughter of Carl and Rheadawn Fields Peetz and they both survive.
Other survivors include daughter Erin Dawn Peetz of Greensburg and brother Douglas Peetz of Batesville.
Ms. Peetz worked as a restaurant manager for the Osgood Grub Company for 13 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon. She will lie in-state at the church from 9-10:00 a.m.
Memorials may be given to the family. Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood was in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Jean Lee, 71, of Madison, died Sunday, May 14, 2006. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Lytle Funeral Chapel, 423 W. Main Street, Madison.

Richard Darrell "Dick" Poling
Richard Darrell "Dick" Poling, 68, of North Butlerville, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born near Canaan on December 15, 1937 the son of Roy and Naomi Bliton Poling, both deceased. He married Carolyn Gassert on June 30, 1960 at the Zoar United Methodist Church near Kent, and she survives.
Other survivors include daughters and their husbands Beverly Sue and Burt Gibson of North Vernon; Lisa and Scot Hull of Butlerville; Karen Poling-Moore of Scipio and Melissa Fields and companion Daniel Fields of North Vernon; sisters Verna Mae Schwagmeier of Benham and Kay Smith of Bennington; brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Kitty of Madison; Joe and Debby of Dandridge, TN; Jim and Carol Jean and Max and Joyce all of Canaan; and Doug of Winter Haven, FL; aunts Georgia Brown and Maxine Wilson; brother-in-law Jack Baugh of Benham; grandchildren Ashley, Rylee, Brandy, Shayna, Zach and Chelsea; three great-grandchildren Brandon, Mya and Skyla; two step-grandchildren Mercedes and Dakota; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by son Dennis; sisters Nyla Jean Harlow, Audrey Baugh and an unnamed infant sister; and brother Donald.
Mr. Poling was a 1957 graduate of Central High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Poling retired after 30 years of service with Cummins Engine Company in Columbus and the Holset-Cummins Plant in Madison. He enjoyed coaching girls’ baseball and softball, especially when his girls were on the team. He was a devoted fan of the Jennings County Panthers. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting mushrooms, fishing, playing cards, gardening and getting together on Saturdays at Canaan at the Poling Family Breakfast.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, May 18 from 3-7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Burial will be at Carmel Cemetery in Hanover with graveside military rites performed by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

Leroy T. May
Leroy T. May, 83, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born near Versailles on January 27, 1923 the son of William and Alta Tunks May. He was married to Dorothy Swinney on November 1, 1943 and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Gene May and his wife Linda of Versailles and Don May and his wife Cathy of Osgood; son-in-law Reed Back of Versailles; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Estol May of Duncanville, Texas, Russell May of Hanover, and Earl May of Rexville; three sisters, Lora Swinney of Versailles, Lila Ziegler of Greensburg, and Evelyn Meek of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Back, his parents, and his brother Stanley May.
Mr. May was a farmer and a former employee of the Indiana State Highway and also for Cord’s Stone Quarry. He also was a self-employed trucker and operated under the CB handle "sand man."
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Daniel May and Rev. Tony Alstott officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8:00 p.m.

Janet L. Keith
Janet L. Keith, 74, of Batesville passed away Monday, May 8, 2006 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital. She was born at Cincinnati, OH on November 6, 1931 the daughter of Herbert and Stella Fields Smith, both deceased. She married Robert Keith on August 25, 1973 at Osgood and he survives.
Other survivors include daughters Denise McLaughlin of Owenton, KY; Jill Ruiz of Hebron, KY; Amy Luttel and Tessa Keith of Batesville; Mindy DeMoss of Greensburg; stepdaughter Kathy Carrol of Kissimmee, FL; stepdaughter Peggy Benham of Osgood; stepdaughter Shannon Jansick of Hammond; and stepdaughter Janet Hollon of Louisville, KY; sons Dennis and Michael McLaughlin of Milan; Bobby, Taylor and Chandler Keith of Batesville; stepson Terry Keith of Austin; Jason Arnoldy of Rushville; Dustin Keith of Lawrenceburg and stepson Timothy Keith of Osgood; and many grandchildren.
Mrs. Keith was a retired factory worker at Hillenbrand Industries.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, May 11 at Weigel Funeral Home, 151 W. George Street, Batesville from 4-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12 at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be at Stipps Hill Cemetery.

Col. Gilbert "Gib" Leroy Foreman, Sr. USAF (Ret)

Col. Gilbert "Gib" Leroy Foreman, Sr., USAF (Ret), 86, of Dillsboro passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Dearborn County Hospital. He was born February 12, 1920 in Hope the son of Alpha and Eva Klapsch Foreman, both deceased. He married Evelyn Wilson, and she survives.
Other survivors include Gilbert Foreman, Jr. of Friendship; Carolyn and husband Donald Earhart of Indianapolis; and Carol Alice Foreman of Tennessee; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, William Foreman and sister Eleanor Hans.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Col. Foreman served his country in the US Air Force for 30 years, serving with the 8th Air Force in WWII. Following his retirement, he sold restaurant equipment in the Indianapolis area for a company that he owned, US Slicing Machine Agency. Gib and his wife were members of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Dillsboro for many years.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, May 11 at Ulrich-Filter Funeral Home in Dillsboro from 5-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Friends are invited to attend the graveside service in the Gothic Chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery on Friday at 2:00 p.m.

Dorothy Jean Sheets
Dorothy Jean Sheets, 79, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born near Versailles on August 21, 1926. She was married to Ralph Sheets and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1965.
Survivors include one son Kenneth Sheets and his wife Norma of Versailles, one daughter Jennifer Rolf and her husband Tony of Versailles; six grandchildren, Kendall Sheets, Eric Sheets, Ryan Sheets, Tonya White, Tabatha Rolf, and Tony Rolf II, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother Nina Ernestine Brindley.
Mrs. Sheets was retired from the Jay C Food Store in Osgood where she worked as a cashier for 26 years. She was also a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Michael Hendrix of the Tyson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8:00 p.m.
