Alton I. Heller
Alton I. Heller, 85, of Moores Hill, died Saturday, November 27, 2004 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born July 12, 1919 in Moores Hill the son of Irvin and Lulu (Rumsey) Heller, both deceased. He married Sybil M. Ryle Heller on June 18, 1944 and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2001.
Survivors include one son, Mike (Becky) Heller of Aurora; twin brother, Alvin Heller of Milan; two sisters, Irma Stacy of Lawrenceburg, Hilda Heller of Milan; and one grandson, Ryan Heller of Dillsboro. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Virgil and Floyd Heller and one sister, Ethel Rawlins.
Mr. Heller had worked for the B&O Railroad, Stedman's Foundry Fernald, and retired as an auditor for the State of Indiana. He was a WWII Navy veteran, was a member of the Moores Hill Methodist Church, Hopewell Masonic Lodge F&AM #80, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine Valley of Indianapolis, was a member of the Moores Hill American Legion Post having served as commander several times, served as 9th District and also Southern Vice Commander of the American Legion, was a member of the Indiana and National Landing Ship Tank Association (LST) and also a member of the Aurora Eagles. He also served as a board member and sexton of Forest Hill Cemetery at Moores Hill for many years until his death.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, November 30, 11 a.m. at the Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill with Pastor Raymond Myers of the Moores Hill Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill with military rites conducted by the Moores Hill Legion Post. Memorials may go to the Moores Hill Legion, Forest Hill Cemetery or the Moores Hill Rescue.

Carolyn Amelia Pettit
Carolyn Amelia Pettit, 96, of Moores Hill, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004. She was born Saturday, August 29, 1908 in Jefferson County the daughter of the late August Torwelle and the late Sophia Iceburg Torwelle.
Survivors include one son, Donald Pettit of Moores Hill; three daughters, Gloria Ricketts of Greensburg, Kay Kennedy of Guilford, Wanda Meyer of Moores Hill, thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Amos Pettit and one son, Ervin Pettit.
Mrs. Pettit was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Aurora.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 27, 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Aurora with Pastor Edward Davis officiating.
Burial was in the St. Paul's Cemetery in Dewberry (Cross Plains). Memorials may go to the St. John's Capital Improvement Fund or St. John's Lutheran School.

Alfred "E.A." Goley

Edward Alfred "E.A." Goley, 87, of Madison, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born September 25, 1917 in North Madison the son of Alfred L. Goley and Gertrude (Ringwald) Goley, both deceased. He married Mary Elizabeth (Turner) Goley on April 1, 1953 and she preceded him in death on April 1, 1966.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Goley and wife Cindy of Madison, Mark Goley and wife Marjorie of Madison; one brother, Edgar Joe Goley and wife Ann of Madison; two sisters, Virginia Mathews of Hanover, Delores Thomas of Madison; one sister-in-law, Mildred Ringwald of Madison, ten grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Goley and two brothers-in-law.
Mr. Goley was a 1936 graduate of North Madison High School. He went to Purdue University graduating in 1939 and later attending Purdue again graduating in 1946 from the School of Agriculture. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 13, 1941 in Louisville, KY serving in the Headquarters, 53rd Ordnance 5th Army, rising to the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. He participated in the Algeria-French Morocco Campaign, the Naples-Foggia Campaign and the Rome-Armo Campaign during World War II. He was honorably discharged on June 18, 1945 from the Vaughn General Hospital in Hines, IL receiving the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Goley also operated Goley's Orchards and the family farming. He helped develop the Jefferson County Soil & Water Conservation District in 1947 and served as district supervisor. He was awarded the Area 5 Master Farm Conservationist Award. He served as a 4-H leader receiving the Sapphire Clover Award. He also served as a Rural Youth Leader for District Ten. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where he was choir director. He was currently a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, a life member of the Knights of Columbus Lodge #934 in Madison, the Madison VFW Post #1969, Jefferson County Farm Bureau, a fifty year member of the National Grange and the Antioch Grange and the Purdue Alumni Association.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 29, 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Chapel in Madison with Rev. John A. Meyer officiating.
Burial was in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Madison with full military honors conducted at the graveside by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.
Memorials may go to the Friends of Shawe & Pope John, the Hospice of King's Daughters' Hospital or the Jefferson County 4-H Program.

Gladys Hattie Schwear
Gladys Hattie Schwear, 89, of Cincinnati, OH, died Sunday, November 28, 2004 at the Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. She was born June 18, 1915 in Osgood the daughter of Wm. H. & Hattie Bellman Schwear, both deceased.
Survivors include one sister, Ruth McCullough of Lakeland, FL. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Schwear and Velma Lauber and one brother, Gilbert Schwear of Osgood.
Mrs. Schwear was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Osgood, worked for Wright Airanat of Evandale, Ohio during WWII and was a past employee of C.J. Krehbiel Printing Company in Cincinnati, OH for 27 years retiring in 1984. She was also involved with the Hyde Park Senior Citizen's doing volunteer work for Children's Hospital of Cincinnati, OH.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, 10-11 a.m. at Neal's Funeral Home in Osgood.
Funeral services will follow visitation at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery (Finks) in Osgood.
Memorials may go to the church or Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.

Whitham Krall

Norma D. Whitham Krall, 97, of Osgood, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2004 at the Hickory Creek Health Care Center in Greensburg. She was born near East Enterprise in Switzerland County on August 18, 1907 the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Elizabeth Bocock Whitham. She was married to Elmer Krall on February 2, 1929 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1987.
Survivors include one son, Norris Krall and wife Joan of Osgood; grandsons Kenny Krall of Versailles, Terry Krall and wife Diane of Indianapolis, Mike Krall of Osgood; six great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and twelve step-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers George, Charles, Willard, Clyde, Chauncey, Stanley, Dilver, Clarence and Paul Whitham; sisters, Bessie Rieman, Hazel Brown and Mildred Alford; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Lock Krall.
Mrs. Krall was a homemaker and was a member of the Fredonia Baptist Church and had attended the Osgood Baptist Church and the Dabney Baptist Church. She had been a cook at the Jefferson-Craig Elementary School in Vevay and had also cooked at the Dairy Queen in Vevay. She also operated the Vevay Grill along with her husband.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 28, 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Charles Cole of the Dabney Baptist Church officiating.

Ralph E. Tolle
Ralph E. Tolle, 85, of Dillsboro, died Thursday, November 25, 2004 at the Waters of Dillsboro Manor. He was born March 17, 1919 in Cincinnati, OH the son of Edward French Tolle and Lelia M. Tharp, both deceased. He married Charlotte A. (Laake) Tolle of Dillsboro and she survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Tolle) Sess of Dillsboro; Charlene (Tolle) Payne of North Vernon; Marietta (Tolle) Metzler of Little Rock, AR; one son, Ronald Tolle of Cleves, OH; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Foltz, Ruth Tolle and Effie Zinkgraf.
Mr. Tolle retired from Cincinnati Water Works in 1990.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 29, 2 p.m. at Ulrich Filter Funeral Home in Dillsboro.
Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Memorials may go to the family.

Timothy Caudill
Timothy Caudill, 38, of Osgood, died Saturday, November 27, 2004 in Greensburg. He was born January 25, 1966 in Batesville the son of Harold Caudill and Cellie Fields Caudill and they survive in Batesville.
Other survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Caudill of Osgood, Erica Caudill of Osgood; three sisters, Luettie Harrison of Batesville, Tilda Fruchtnicht of Osgood, Melissa Broughton of St. Leon; and five brothers, Monroe Caudill of Dillsboro, Dexter Caudill of Milan, Wilson Caudill of Batesville, Carlos Caudill of Milan and David Caudill of Batesville. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ranie Molnar.
Mr. Caudill was a forklift operator at GE Lighting in Batesville. He was also a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Osgood.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, November 30, 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Carol Leslie officiating.

Virgil Freeman
Virgil Freeman, 71, of Manchester, died Sunday, November 28, 2004 at his residence. He was born January 8, 1933 in Irvine, Kentucky the son of Owen and Bertha Harrison Freeman. He married Michelle "Micki" Miller and she preceded him in death on November 23, 2003.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Estain of Manchester; six grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Bradshaw of Milford, OH; and two brothers, Ronald Freeman of Covington, Kentucky and Shelby Freeman of Milford, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Owen, Willard and Russ Freeman.
Mr. Freeman was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion, was an employee of Sieman Industries in Norwood, Ohio and served in the US Air Force in the 1950s.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman. Memorials may be made to family.

Virginia M. Holcomb
Virginia M. Holcomb, 77, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, November 27, 2004 at Woodland Hills Care Center in Lawrenceburg. She was born December 2, 1926 in Aurora the daughter of Sherman Marshall and Edna Ruth Bennett, both deceased. She married Leo Holcomb and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Holcomb was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, John Holcomb of Aurora, Keith Holcomb of Cincinnati, OH, Mike Holcomb of Decatur, AL; two daughters, Karen Abbott of Lawrenceburg, Sheila Holcomb of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Donald Marshall of Aurora; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Marshall and Stanley Marshall.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, November 30, 5-8 p.m. at Filter Funeral Home in Aurora.

Watson C. Brown
Watson C. Brown, 81, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 in Cincinnati, OH. He was born April 27, 1923 in Napoleon.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Brown of Lawrenceburg; one son, Dale (Debbie) Brown of Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Denise (Barry) Kaffenberger of Lawrenceburg, Donna (Bruce) Kaffenberger of Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Winton Brown of Greensburg, Virgil Brown of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Brown was a pressure operator at Cincinnati Gas and Electric. He was also an Army Veteran and a member of the Lawrenceburg Legion.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 29, 1 p.m. at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Pastor Tim Russell officiating.
Burial was in the Greendale Cemetery in Lawrenceburg with Color Guard Services conducted by the David McAllister Post #239.

Dorothy M. Lauber
Dorothy M. Lauber, 91, of Sunman, died Friday, November 19, 2004 at her residence. She was born January 19, 1913 in Milan the daughter of Louis H. and Elnora (Bohlke) Brandt, both deceased. She married Harvey Lauber on February 7, 1933 and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Lauber of Sunman, Donald Lauber of Ft. Myers, FL; three daughters, Esther Edmondson of Sunman, Bernetta Dobson of Sunman, Janice Hosmer of Sunman; one brother, Louis Brandt of Sunman; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Brandt and one sister, Eleanor Brandt.
Mrs. Lauber was a homemaker; worked at Neukam's Store in Sunman; Central Supply at Dearborn County Hospital; Elsie Dryer Nursing Home; Sunman Filling Station; Hosmer Restaurant; a nanny; and a seamstress for many years. She was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church; St. Paul Lutheran Church Society; Jane's Home Ec Club; Ripley County Historical Society; Farm Bureau; 4-H Busy Bees; Cancer Society Board; Central House Committee; and the Pocahontas Lodge.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Methodist Church south of Sunman with Pastor Duane Loos officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Methodist Cemetery.

Edward V. Weis
Edward V. Weis, 92, of Aurora, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was born August 20, 1912 in Aurora, the son of Martin John Weis and Flora Emma Shuter, both deceased. He married Eleanor M. Weis and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Caroline (Weis) Harris of Logansport; one son, Allen E. Weis of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Willard L. Weis.
Mr. Weis was a 1931 graduate of Aurora High School and sold and delivered eggs on Route 40 for many years. He was also a farmer.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Filter Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Aurora.

Etta Belle Fisk
Etta Belle Fisk, 97, of Batesville, died Friday, November 19, 2004 at her residence. She was born February 12, 1907 in Fiskburg, Kentucky the daughter of Steven Walter and Nettie Florence (Spefal) Fisk, both deceased. She married John Fisk in Covington, Kentucky on March 19, 1926 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 1971.
Survivors include nine children, Emma (Ellis) Mullins of Independence, KY, Goldie (late Bill) Cumming of Dalhart, TX, Helen (Gilbert) Crowder of New Richmond, OH, Norma (late David) Beckett of Maysville, KY, Dora (Charles) Jones of Verona, KY, Paul (Carolyn) Fisk of Versailles; Rose (Lawrence) Mobley of Batesville, Delorus (Late Roger) Adams of Batesville, John Jr, (Dianne) Fisk of Versailles; 30 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Lloyd Fisk, Arthur Fisk and Davis Fisk; and seven brothers and sisters.

Gladys R. Molter
Gladys R. Molter, 84, of Lawrenceburg, died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born April 28, 1920 in Warren, OH the daughter of William DeWitt Ray and Melvina West.
Survivors include one son, Keenan Molter of Aurora; two daughters, Shelby Jean Wirick of Lawrenceburg, Samantha Jane Bacon of Columbus, OH; one brother, William Ray of Guilford; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister Samantha Tombs.
Mrs. Molter was a distillery worker.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 24 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the Ulrich-Filter Funeral Home, Dillsboro. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery, Lawrenceburg.

Hank Graves
Hank Graves, 64, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Rushville on June 27, 1940 the son of John and Lillian Gregg Graves and was married to Pat Angus on July 15 1967 and she survives.
Other survivors include four daughter, Jodi Comer and husband Jason of Osgood, Jenny Graves, Molly Steele and her husband Brian, and Katie Sheets and her husband Eric all of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Emily Huntington, Luke Comer, and Jack Steele; two brothers Lowell Graves and wife Ginny of Penesecola, Florida and Jerry Graves and his wife Bernie of Cincinnati; two sisters, Nancy Blake and her husband Don of Cincinnati and Margie Malone of Florida.
Mr. Graves was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era and a member of the Versailles American Legion. He was a coppersmith for Seagrams for 27 years retiring in 1995.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23, at 10 a.m. at the Tyson United Methodist Church in Versailles with Sandy Becker of the Versailles American Legion officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion.

J. Wade Thayer
J. Wade Thayer, 80, of Osgood, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the Hospitality Hall of the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at Morristown in Shelby County on March 3, 1924 the son of Wade R. and Ruby Johnson Thayer. He was married to Mary Kamman on August 25, 1946 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Greg Thayer and his wife Yolanda of Winchester; one daughter Kaye Callen and her husband Steve of Milan; four grandsons, Brian Thayer and his wife Melisa of Westfield, Evan Thayer of Winchester, Brad Callen and his wife Amanda of Ft. Wayne, and Matt Callen of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Jane Ann; sister, Bernice Brown; and brothers, Earl and Spence Thayer.
He was a 1942 graduate of Osgood High School and had attended Purdue University where he majored in poultry science. He was an Army veteran of WWII where he served as a Master Sergeant in the China offensive and the Burma Trail. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. He owned and operated M&W Poultry and the Village Flowers in Osgood for several years. He was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church, the Osgood American Legion, Osgood F&AM #603, the Sundowners Club of Cape Coral, Florida, the Indiana Poultry Association, and was a charter member of the Osgood Lions Club.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles with Rev. Don Buck officiating. Burial will be in the Hanover Cemetery at Morristown. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23 from 6-8 p.m.

Magdalen E. Riehle
Magdalen E. Riehle, 88, of Morris, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at her residence. She was born December 4, 1915 in Batesville, the daughter of George Doll and Veronica (Weigel) Doll, both deceased. She married Raymond Riehle on April 26, 1952 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1972.
Survivors include three daughters, Rita Rauch of St. Nicholas, Janet Rauch, Louis Rauch both of St. Peter's; three sons, Lawrence Riehle of Morris, Richard Riehle of Batesville, Gerald Riehle of Morris; one sister, Veronica Wuestefeld of Batesville; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Riehle; three sisters, Alberta Doll, Agnes Doll, Rita Doll; seven brothers, Marcellus, Francis, George, Urban, Aloys, Anthony, Matthias Doll; and one granddaughter, Amy Rauch.
Mrs. Riehle was a member of St. Anthony's Church; St. Anne's Ladies Society and was a seamstress for Nobbe Clothing Store in Batesville for 20 years.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, November 23 from 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville with rosary at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Morris with Msgr. Martin Sinclair

Marcia K. Martin Sinclair, 48, of Cincinnati, formerly of Milan, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2004 at her residence. She was born at Milan on October 20, 1956 the daughter of Melvin and Marjorie Pate Martin. She was married to Don Sinclair on September 11, 1985 and he survives.
Other survivors include her father, Melvin Martin of Fairfield, OH; mother Marjorie Gamble of Cincinnati; stepsons, Greg Sinclair of Cincinnati, Doug Sinclair of Mainville, OH; stepdaughter, Debbie Fox of Cincinnati; three grandchildren, one great grandchild; three brothers, Raymond Martin of Cincinnati, Charles Martin of Tullahoma, TN, James Martin of Livingston, Kentucky; one sister, Susan Ogden of Cincinnati.
Mrs. Sinclair was a homemaker.

Joseph Barry Jr.

William Joseph Barry, Jr., 80, of Bright, died Friday, November 19, 2004 at Veterans Hospital, Cincinnati. He was born June 1, 1924 in Jersey City, NJ, the son of William Sr. and Elizabeth (McFadden) Barry. He married Merlinda Marce in the Philippines on April 26, 1987 and she survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Billie Jean Barry of Bright, Magdalena Marce, Annapolis, MD, Maureen Lupo of New York; four sons, William, Robert, Dennis and Jimmy Barry all of New Jersey; several grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Schulte of Batesville, Irene Nugent of North Carolina; and one brother, Jimmy Barry of New Jersey. One sister, Margaret Barry and one son, Kevin Barry preceded him in death.
Mr. Barry was a member of St. Teresa Benedicta in Bright, the VFW and the American Legion in Batesville, the DAV and the First Marine Division Association. He was also a carpenter millwright and was a US Marine during WWII.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Louis Church in Batesville with Fr. Christiaan Kappes officiating. Burial was in the St. Louis Church Cemetery with military funeral rites.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.

Evelyn Huntington
Evelyn Huntington, 77, of Osgood, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2004 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born at Versailles on September 2, 1927 the daughter of Vaughn and Anna Kennett Hallgarth.
Mrs. Huntington was a homemaker and had formerly been employed with Ohio Rod.
Survivors include one daughter, Hope Schwanholt and her husband Doug of Versailles; one granddaughter, Kaitlyn; three brothers, Jack Hallgarth and David Hallgarth both of Texas and Durwin Hallgarth of Hanover; two sisters, Hattie Webster of Madison, Wisconsin and Aldean Demaree of Greensburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Virginia Prickett, Helen Webster, Margaret Clayton; and brothers, Robert, Lloyd and Clayton Hallgarth.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 17, at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison.

Jeffrey Carroll Sloan
Jeffrey Carroll "Jeff" Sloan, 41, of Vevay, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at King's Daughters' Hospital, Madison. He was born February 14, 1963 in Madison the son of Millard Carroll Sloan and Genevieve (Schwade) Sloan and they survive. He married Valerie Ann (Walston) Sloan on June 3, 1996 and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Moore and husband Nicholas of Rising Sun; one stepdaughter, Alyssa "A.J" Hatcher of Vevay; one brother, Greg Sloan of Terre Haute; two nephews, Kaden and Kelland of Terre Haute; one uncle, Billy Glenn Sloan of Topeka, KS; one aunt, Donna Robinson of Sunman; and several cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Vera Jean Roland Smith and Eddie Schwade; maternal great grandparents, Claude and Dorothy Shadday Roland; and paternal grandparents, Millard and Martha Isaacs Sloan.
Mr. Sloan was a 1981 graduate of Switzerland County High School. He was employed early in life with Tolbert's Petroleum in Vevay, later working for Neary's Vending in Lawrenceburg. He was last employed with Tanner's Creek Power Plant in Lawrenceburg from 1984-1991, working in the coal yard.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, November 16 from 5-7 p.m. and Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, at the funeral home with Rev. Howard Wade officiating. Burial will be in the Vevay Cemetery.

Alma Faye Johnson
Alma Faye Johnson, 93, of Scottsburg, died November 14, 2004 in Scottsburg. She was born December 21, 1910 in Scott County, Indiana the daughter of Arthur and Mabel McCoskey Sutton. She married James Z. Johnson and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Comer and husband John of Scottsburg, Carol Unser of Florida; one brother, Jack Sutton of Hanover; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two brothers, three sisters, and one grandchild.
Mrs. Johnson was a former retail clerk for Gladstein's and Shapinsky's fashion stores in Scottsburg and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Shelby Christian Church, Rexville.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, November 16, from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday, November 17, from 9-11 a.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home, Scottsburg. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Flynn officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery, Rexville.

Patricia Ann Talbott
Patricia Ann Talbott, 44, of Texas, formerly of Covington, KY, died October 30, 2004.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Charles Talbott of Cincinnati; brothers, Tony Talbott, Jessie Talbott, Ray Talbott all of Covington, Ted Talbott of Walton; sisters, Jessica Talbott, Virginia Talbott, Connie all of Covington, Carolyn Talbott of North Carolina, Connie Barham of Falmouth and Tina Waugh of Latonia.

Leroy Eckler
Leroy Eckler, of Dillsboro, died Thursday, November 10, 2004 at his residence. He was born May 27, 1920 in Dillsboro the son of Milton Eckler and Lena Boyd.
Survivors include two sons, Timothy Eckler and Clinton Eckler both of Dillsboro; and one sister, Helen Transier of Dillsboro. His parents, two sisters, and one brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Eckler was a construction worker.
Private services were held Friday, November 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington Baptist Cemetery in Elrod.

Magdalen L. Bartling
Magdalen "Maggie" L. Bartling, 84, of Morris, died Sunday, November 7, 2004 at University Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born December 6, 1919 in Batesville the daughter of Harry and Matilda (Billman) Ferkenhoff. She married Francis H. Bartling on June 13, 1947 at St. Anthony Church in Morris and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2000.
Survivors include one son, Bart Bartling of Batesville; four daughters, Venita Dotson of Cincinnati, Karla Henderson of Dover, Denee "Dee" Andres of Dover and Lisa Bartling of Morris; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Hooten of Batesville, Elverna Comer of Rushville, Eugena Willett of Columbus, OH, Juanita Chappelow of Connersville; and Gloria Ferkenhoff of Cincinnati.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Ferkenhoff, Olivia Bentfield, Clotilda Schriner; and one brother, Carl Ferkenhoff.
Mrs. Bartling was a member of the St. Anne's Ladies Sodality, youth leader and coach at St. Anthony CYO, chairperson for the St. Anthony kitchen department for the Labor Day picnic, former member of the St. Louis Church choir. She and her husband owned and operated the former F.H. Poultry and Bartling Bait Shop.
Visitation will be held today Tuesday, November 9, from 5-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral, Batesville with rosary services at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 10 at 10 a.m. at the St. Anthony Church, Morris with Msgr. Bernard Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Marle Robinson Ford
Marle Robinson Ford, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 8, 2004.
She had been a bookkeeper and homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Osgood and St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Her husband, John A. Ford, preceded her in death in 1998. She is survived by her son, Jon A. (Judy) Ford; daughter, Mrs. Bobby (Jenine) Plump; eight grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 13, at 9 a.m. until the time of mass at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Indianapolis.

Justin Michael Ricke
Justin Michael Ricke, 14, of Madison and also of Osgood, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2004 at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born at Batesville on October 21, 1990 the son of Jim and Lacie Youngman Ricke.
Mr. Ricke is survived by his father Jim Ricke, Sr., of Osgood; mother and stepfather Lacie and Chuck Deputy of Madison; brother, Jimmy Ricke of Osgood; stepsisters, Amanda and Makenzie Deputy of Madison; paternal grandparents Richard and Susan Ricke of Osgood; maternal grandparents Mike and Susan Youngman of Osgood; maternal great grandparents, Carl and Ruth Wenning of Osgood and Lucille Youngman of Napoleon.
Justin was an eighth grade student at Southwestern Middle School in Hanover and had attended Jac-Cen-Del Elementary School. He was a member of the Jefferson County 4-H, the American Quarter Horse Association and the National Reining Horse Association.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles with Jerry Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery at Finks Corner near Osgood. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 10 from 5-8 p.m.

Dorothy M. Meyer
Dorothy M. (Dottie) Meyer, 77, of Milan, died Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was born May 23, 1927 in Cincinnati the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Graf) Ernst. She married Gene Meyer and he preceded her in death in 1986.
Survivors include one son, Gene Meyer, Jr. of Cincinnati; two daughters, Judy Meyer of Ft. Meyers, FL, Jane Corbett of Cincinnati; one brother, Bill Ernst; 14 grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren. One daughter, Linda Wilson preceded her in death.
Mrs. Meyer was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, November 9 at 11 a.m. at the Milan First Baptist Church with Pastor Harris Long officiating. Burial will be in the New St. Joseph Cemetery in Cincinnati.

Orville Crocker
Orville Crocker, 84, of the Hopewell community passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Mr. Crocker was born on the farm where he resided on November 6, 1919 the son of Frank and Emma Comer Crocker. He was married to June Smith on January 27, 1945 and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Nancy Thola of Osgood; three sons, Merrill Crocker and Melvin Crocker both of Osgood, Lee Crocker and his wife Nancy of Waverly, OH; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Floyd and Merrill Crocker and one sister, Wilamette Crocker.
Mr. Crocker was a 1936 graduate of Holton High School and had attended Hanover College on a football scholarship. He was also a farmer and along with his sons owned and operated Crocker's Christmas Tree Farm. He had worked for several years as a self-employed carpenter having built many houses in the community near his home. He also was a member of the Carpenter's Local 1775 of Columbus.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 7 at 2 p.m. at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Building Fund in care of the funeral home.

Emanuel Ray Cox
Emanuel Ray Cox, 76, of Peppertown died Sunday, October 31, 2004 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born June 27, 1928 in Corbin, KY, the son of Seldon E. and Eva Hazel (Miller) Cox. He married Esther Abshear and she survives in Connersville.
Other survivors include one daughter, Jeanette (Joseph) Cox-Mills of Cincinnati; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Guy Cox of Watsonville, CA; two sisters, Alma Kelley of Corbin, KY, and Joyce Mae Roberts of TN. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Opal Cox; three sisters, Shirley Brantley, Frances Cox and Christine Bingham; and one daughter, Linda Lou Cox.
Mr. Cox was retired from Ford Motor Company in Connersville after 46 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Laurel, the Laurel Lodge 447 F&AM, NRA and the LUE Local 919.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 4 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with Masonic services at 10:30 a.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rob Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Peppertown Cemetery.

Elmer Rayls
Elmer Rayls, 81, of Vevay, died Thursday, October 28, 2004 at King's Daughters' Hospital, Madison. He was born March 23, 1923 in East Enterprise the son of Alvah Rayls and Mabel (Slack) Rayls. He married Betty Jean (Lock) Rayls on July 14, 1945 and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Rayls and wife, Lake of Center Square, Gary Rahls and wife Judy of Moorefield, Denny Rahls and wife Suzanne of Center Square; one daughter, Marilyn Reed and husband George of Bennington; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Ellogene Scudder of East Enterprise, Alice Winters of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Rayls was a veteran of the Army, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant in the 3015th Quartermaster Baking Company, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and the WWII Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on November 14, 1945. He had been employed at the Jefferson Proving Ground in Madison and also worked at Bladen's General Store in Vevay for three years. He was a member of the Center Square Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 30 at 11 a.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay with Rev. Gary Shephard officiating. Burial was in the Vevay Cemetery.

Oakla Wilson
Oakla Wilson, 85, of Batesville, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born October 21, 1919 in Kentucky the daughter of VanBuran and Roxie Osborn Hall. She married Ernie Wilson, Jr. and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include five daughters; two sons; 11 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and several sisters and brothers.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family on Friday, October 29 at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. Burial was in the Old Milan Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Hazel Leek
Hazel Leek, 77, of Dillsboro, died Sunday, October 31, 2004 at the Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. She was born January 31, 1927 in Helenwood, TN the daughter of Russell Strunk and Middie Phillips. She married James F. Leek and he survives in Dillsboro.
Other survivors include five sons, Michael Ryan of Cincinnati, James Ryan of Middletown, OH, Jerry Ryan of Aurora, Steve Ryan of Aurora, Donald Ryan of Elrod; one daughter, Kim (Ryan) Goodpaster of Aurora; three stepsons, James C. Leek of Lawrenceburg, Gregory K. Leek of Lawrenceburg, Darrin C. Leek of Lawrenceburg; one stepdaughter, Brenda Davis of Aurora; one brother, Russell Strunk, Jr. of Lawrenceburg; and two sisters, Bonnie Burke of Louisville, KY, and Shirley Wright of Louisville, KY. Her parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Leek was a homemaker.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, November 2 from 5-8 p.m. at the Ulrich Filter Funeral Home, Dillsboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 3 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro.

Jeanette Burton
Jeanette Burton, 60, of Greensburg, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 at her residence. She was born October 7, 1944 in Frazeysburg, OH, the daughter of Gilbert Anderson and Bertha Barcus. She married James R. Burton on March 8, 1985 in TN and he survives.
Other survivors include her mother Bertha Anderson of Jeffersonville, OH; one son, Jon Wren of Ossian; one stepson, James Burton, Jr., of Greensburg; and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Deanna Terwant.
Mrs. Burton was a member of the St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon, attended the Lancaster Business College and Franklin University, Columbus, OH. She was a bookkeeper for Dr. Wiseman.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 2 from 3:30 - 8 p.m. at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg with prayer services beginning at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 3 at 11 a.m. at the St. Maurice Catholic Church, Napoleon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
