Gerry Gaylene Furnish
Gerry Gaylene (Wiley) Furnish, 63, of Vevay, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at
her residence. She was born August 29, 1940 in Switzerland County the daughter
of Gayle Wiley and Emma (Liggett) Wiley Elder and they preceded her in death.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Ashly Brooke Furnish and Lauren Nicole
Furnish both of Lexington, Caleb Edwards of Lawrenceburg, two step grandchildren,
Ciera Michelle Browning and Cassandra Lee Browning both of Lawrenceburg, one
daughter-in-law, Angela Furnish Lyman of Lawrenceburg; one sister, Betty Lou
Grant and her husband Don of Sun City, AZ, stepfather, Bill Elder of Rising Sun,
several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gayle Edward Furnish on September 22, 1999.
Mrs. Furnish was a member of the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church, a 1958
graduate of Vevay High School, served as Deputy recorder at the Switzerland County
Courthouse, the County Recorder for eight years and was currently serving at
Deputy Recorder under Recorder Nancy Brown. She was also a member of the Vevay
Athletic Club, Vevay Tri Kappa Associate Chapter and helped her husband with
his business earlier in life, Furnish Refrigeration.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 24 at 12 noon slow time at Haskell & Morrison
Funeral Home, Vevay with Rev. Howard Wade officiating. Burial was in the Vevay
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Switzerland County Courthouse Garden Fund
through the funeral home.

Jeanette "Janet" Druschel, 72, of Holton, passed
away Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the King's Daughters' Hospital
in Madison. She was born in Manchester,
Kentucky on March 13, 1932 the daughter of Robert and Lizzie Keith Sizemore.
She was married to Frances W. Druschel in 1950 and he survives. She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include three daughters, Roseann Becktell of Versailles, Linda
White of Osgood, Patricia Druschel of North Vernon, one son, Ronald of Holton,
six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother, Woody Sizemore of Holton,
six sisters, Esther Baker of Holton, Martha Scott of Springfield, Virginia, Mayme
Renfro of Holton, Myrtle Lainhart of Holton, Allie Hacker of Versailles and Shirley
Keeton of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter,
Diane Marie, her son, Frankie Bernard, her sister, Virgie Baker and her brothers,
Craft, Frank, Vernon and John Sizemore.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, July 27, 1 p.m. at the Holton United
Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Hadler officiating.
Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery
in care of the funeral home.

Katherine A. Hyde, 73, of Moores Hill, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at her residence.
She was born April 12, 1931 in Aurora the daughter of William and Gatha (Hodge)
Payton, both deceased. She married Lewis R. Hyde Sr. and he survives.
Other survivors include six sons, Victor (Anita) Gulley of Charleston, SC, Tony
(Nita) Gulley of Missouri, John (Janet) Miles of Louisville, KY, Tom Miles of
Moores Hill, Larry (Linda) Hyde of Moores Hill, Lewis (Beth) Hyde Jr. of Moores
Hill, two daughters, Melissa (Gary) Edwards of Florence, KY, Marlyn Ashcraft
of Milan, one sister, Barbara Palmer of Milan, thirteen grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hyde was a former employee of the Dillsboro Nursing Home and Tedesco Pizza.
She was a member of the South Sparta Community Church and the Versailles Chapter
of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, July 27, 2 p.m. (fast time) at
South Sparta Community Church, south of Moores Hill with Rev. Tom Holt officiating.
Burial will be in the South Sparta Cemetery. Memorials may go to the South Sparta
Community Church or cemetery.

Rachael Marie Malan
Rachael Marie Malan, 2 days, of Indianapolis, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at
Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. She was born July 22, 2004 at
St. Francis South Hospital in Indianapolis the daughter of Thomas W. Malan
and Judith A. (Garrett) Malan, both of Indianapolis.
Survivors include paternal grandparents, Ronald and Mayfra Ann Malan of Martinsville,
maternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Garrett of Milan and paternal great-grandmothers,
Marie Ratcliff of Martinsville and Roberta Blackwell of Jasper.
Graveside funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, July 27, 2 p.m. at Greenlawn
Cemetery in Martinsville.

Bare McClain
Violet Thomas Bare McClain, 92, of Versailles, passed away Friday, July 23, 2004
at Manderley Health Care Facility in Osgood. She was born near St. Paul on March
14, 1912 the daughter of John and Lillie Rutherford Thomas. She was married to
Irvan Bare who preceded her in death in 1967.
Other survivors include one daughter, Jean Kuhen of Oregon, one son, William
Rathburn of Green Valley, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son,
Don Bare, her sisters, Lula Watson, Edith Peters and Mary Thomas and her brothers,
Lawrence, Roy, John, Russell, Edgar and Gerald.
Ms. McClain worked at the 5-10 in Osgood, Ensingers Furniture Store and Rices
Grocery for twenty years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Kingston
since 1931 and attended the Versailles Baptist Church regularly.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, 10 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Mark Walker officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28 at the funeral home in
Versailles.
Burial will be in the Mud Pike Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Mud Pike

Ada Elizabeth Callen
Ada Elizabeth Callen, 86, of Milan, died Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Ripley Crossing,
Milan. She was born November 2, 1917 in Mason County, KY, the daughter of Arnette
Miles and Minnie Gladys (Johnson) Earles. She married Dewey Burlew, Carl Joseph
Cline and later Robert Callen.
Survivors include four sons, Carl (Chipper) Cline of Milan, Roger Cline of Dillsboro,
Dennis Callen of Burleson, TX, Steve Callen of Milan, three daughters, Barbara
Shelton of Alexandria, KY, Brenda Bowen of DeMossville, KY, Dianna Cline of Catskill,
KY, two brothers, Charles and Herbert Cline both of Butler, KY, 17 grandchildren,
21 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by nine brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Callen was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Stumpke's Corner
and was a member of the Milan Senior Citizens. She and Mr. Cline were the owners/operators
of the Koeng Hotel and she later worked at the Ben Franklin Store.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral
Home, Milan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 21 at 10 a.m. at the
funeral home with Pastor Richard Mackey officiating. Burial will be in the Craven
Cemetery, Milan.

Anna M. Centers, 65, of Aurora, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at Good Samaritan
Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. She was born July 27, 1938 in Avawom, KY the daughter
of Mitchell and Flora M. Combs, both deceased. She married Donald Centers and
he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Jeff Noland of Indianapolis, two daughters,
Karen Centers and Jennifer Centers, both of Aurora, four brothers, Jess Combs
of Walton, KY, Paul Combs of Alexandria, KY, Roy Combs of Florence, KY, Mitchell
Combs of Jacksonville, FL, four sisters, Marie Jump of Dry Ridge, KY, Pauline
Bailey of Hamilton, OH, Helen Lyons of Walton, KY, Linda Ragland of Hamilton,
OH and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Noland.
Mrs. Centers operated the Camp Shore Camp Ground in Aurora for 35 years.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 16 at Filter Funeral Home in Aurora.
Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery in Aurora.

Bonnie J. Patrick
Bonnie J. Patrick, 75, of Holton, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004 at the Dearborn
County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born in Moores Hill on May 5, 1929,
the daughter of William and Sophia (Carter) Peebles. She was married to Earnest
Patrick on October 7, 1945 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son William Earnest of Holton; two daughters, Janet
Forwalt of Holton, Joyce Horn of Holton; one brother, Jewel Peebles of Covington,
KY, three sisters, Gladys Foster of Holton, Pauline Britt of Versailles, and
Elnora Springer of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents and
one brother Virgil, three sisters, Emmaline Peebles, Geraldine Bruce, and Evelyn
Knuxall.
She was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home, Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be in
the Tanglewood Cemetery, Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Cedar Creek

Dorothy Pauline Morgan
Dorothy Pauline Morgan, 85, of Batesville, died Saturday, July 17, 2004 at the
Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was born November 10, 1918 in
Shelby County the daughter of William and Gertrude (Vogel) Schoentrup, both
deceased. She was married to Harold Morgan on October 26, 1950 and he preceded
her in death on April 3, 1991.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, one sister, Bernice Peters of New Point.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Huber, Zeta Mae Schoentrup
and Mary Evelyn Schoentrup, four brothers, Karl, Robert, Paul and Irvin Schoentrup.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20 from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at the St Louis
Catholic Church, Batesvile with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. at the
church with Fr. Christiaan Kappes officiating. Burial will be in the St Mark
Cemetery in Batesville. Memorials may be made to the Batesville Rescue 10, Gibault
School or Decatur County Hospice.

Elmer Sporleder
Elmer Sporleder, 80, of Zenas, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2004 at the Jennings
Health Care Center in North Vernon. He was born near Zenas on March 30, 1924
the son of Harlan and Eliza Talbot Sporleder. He was married to Mae Stroup
on December 1, 1946 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son Joseph Sporleder and wife Sandy of Holton; three
daughters, Bonita Hopkins and husband Johnny of Indianapolis; Cathy Meisberger
and husband Dan of Holton; Pam Simmons and husband Mason of North Vernon; ten
grandchildren and two great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents,
brothers, Oliver and Lester Sporleder and sisters, Gladys Holcomb and Louella
Murdock.
Mr. Sporleder was a 1942 graduate of Zenas High School and was a farmer. He was
a member of the Zenas Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of WWII where he
received the WWII Victory Ribbon and the Army of Occupied Germany Medal. He had
been a school bus driver in the Holton and South Ripley school systems.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 19, 10 a.m. at the Zenas Baptist Church
with Rev. Jack Suits officiating. Burial was in the Vernon Cemetery. Memorials
may be given to the Hospice of Jennings County or the Zenas Baptist Church.

Faye Sedam
Faye Sedam, 88, of Versailles, died Saturday, July 17, 2004 in Osgood. She was
born November 8, 1915 in Jefferson County.
Survivors include one son, Ralph and wife Joyce Sedam of Ft. Wayne, three daughters,
Esther and husband Larry Hunger of Versailles, Ruby and husband Charles Hopping
of Milan, Ruth and husband Bud Corson of Columbus, 15 grandchildren, 20 great
grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by husband Charles, three sons, Earl, Gary and James, infant daughter and several
brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Sedam was a retired cook, a member of the Benham United Methodist Church
since 1942, a member of the United Methodist Women's Group and served as the
cemetery record keeper for several years. She cooked at the Southeastern Indiana
Vocational School for 12 years and 12 years at the 4-H camp. She was also a member
of the Benham Bluebells Home Ec Club and the Benham Card Club.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, July 20 at 11 a.m. at the Benham
United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Hendrix officiating. Burial will be
in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Benham United Methodist
Church Cemetery or the American Diabetes Association.

Gene Ogden
Gene Ogden, 69, of Osgood, died Friday, July 16, 2004 at his residence. He was
born December 20, 1934 in Batesville the son of Leonard and Helen Kellenberger
Ogden, both deceased. He married Eileen Jenks Ogden and she survives in Osgood.
Other survivors include one son, Gregory Ogden and wife Monica of Osgood, one
daughter, Cynthia Pemberton and husband Tim of Naples, FL, five grandchildren
and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Ogden
and two brothers, Charles and Edward Ogden.
Mr. Ogden was a US Army veteran from 1955-1957, worked at Dunbar & Bultman
from 1957-1965, worked and retired from Butternut Bread in Versailles from 1965-1992,
a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Osgood, served as a volunteer fireman
in Osgood for 37 years, served on the Osgood Town council for two terms, was
a member of the Osgood Beautification Committee and was a Pee Wee and Little
League coach in the late 1960s and 1970s.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 19 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic
Church, Osgood. Burial was in the St. John's Cemetery, Osgood with military graveside
services conducted by the Keene-Henneke VFW of Napoleon and the Wm. A. Gilland
American Legion Post of Osgood.
Memorials may be made to the Osgood Fire Department.

George Irvin Hartig
George Irvin Hartig, 69, of Osgood, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Manderley
Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born November 9, 1934 in Ripley County
the son of Virgil and Mabel Monroe Hartig, both deceased. He married Doris
Pilz and she preceded him in death in 1973. He then married Betty Giblin in
1986 and she survives in Osgood.
Other survivors include two sons, Irvin Hartig and Benny Hartig, both of Osgood,
one step daughter, Kim Russell of Indianapolis, one step son, Dave Russell of
Moores Hill, two sisters, Glenna Mae Schuler of Versailles, Mary Ellen McCorkle
of Anderson, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in
death by his mother-in-law, Roberta Giblin of Moores Hill.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17 at Neal's Funeral Home in Osgood.
Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery "Finks" in Osgood. Memorials may

Mae Sigmon Alford
Gladys Mae (Hambrick) Sigmon Alford, 72, of Dillsboro, formerly of Vevay, died
Sunday, July 18, 2004 in Lawrenceburg. She was born November 11, 1931 in Carrollton,
KY, the daughter of Russell Hambrick and Selena (Geter) Hambrick. She married
Edwin Earl Alford, Jr., on January 22, 1948 and he preceded her in death on October
4, 1976. She later married Robert E. Sigmon on September 29, 1980 and he preceded
her in death on April 1, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Wallace and husband Cecil of Dillsboro,
Janie Ammons and husband Joseph of Greendale; two sons, Michael Sigmon of Allensville;
Dennis Sigmon of Greendale, one stepson, Curtis Alford of Lansing, MI, one brother,
Robert Clark Hambrick; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several
nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, William Joseph Henderson, one sister,
Kathleen Webster, four brothers, Bonnie Gene Hambrick, Russell C. Hambrick, Ira
Hambrick, Edward Hambrick and one daughter-in-law, Rose Sigmon.
Mrs. Alford worked at US Shoe in Vevay and the Sky Chef at the Cincinnati Airport.
She was also employed with Thatcher Glass as a selector for thirteen years. She
was a member of the Quercus Grove United Methodist Church at Quercus Grove.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 21, from 4-7 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison
Funeral Home, Vevay. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 22 at 12 noon
at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Wilks officiating. Burial will be in the
Vevay Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family through the funeral home.
Glynna E. Howard
Glynna E. Howard, 75, of Greensburg, died Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Methodist
Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born May 23, 1929 in Ohio, the daughter of
Walter and Ruth (Spry) Cardinal. She married Omer E. Draut and he preceded
her in death in 1977. She later married Thomas B. Howard on June 4, 1983 and
he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, James Draut of Cincinnati, Howard "Butch" Draut
of St. Louis, MO, two daughters, Carol Combs of Middletown, OH, June Payne of
Germantown, OH, two brothers, Mike Cardinal of Nebraska, Bill Cardinal of AZ,
several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Mrs. Howard helped with home health care for several years.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17 at 2 p.m. at Porter-Oliger-Pearson
Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Wolford officiating. Memorials may be made to Make
a Wish Foundation.
Herman Sizemore
Herman Sizemore, 67, of Aurora, died Sunday, July 18, 2004 at Mercy South Hospital,
Fairfield, OH. He was born November 26, 1936 in Dearborn County near St. Leon
the daughter of William and Mathilda Akeman Sizemore, both deceased. He was
married to Ramona Charlene Redmon on September 31, 1961 in the Manchester Methodist
Church and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Kelly J. Sizemore of Aurora, two sons,
Terry L. Sizemore of Noblesville, Jody A. Sizemore of Addyston, OH, two sisters,
Marietta Anderson of Milan, Theresa Joy Hill of Versailles, four brothers, Harold
Sizemore of Aurora, Jimmy Sizemore of Lawrenceburg, Joseph Womack of Cross Plains
and Anthony Womack of Moores Hill. He was preceded in death by one son, Norman
Sizemore, one brother, Robert Sizemore and one grandson, Steven Trevor Sizemore.
Mr. Sizemore was a retired mechanic and driver for Dearborn Gravel and a member
of the Teamster's Retirement Club.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 21, from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home,
Sunman. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 22 at 1 p.m. at the funeral
home with Dr. Sterling L. Cauble officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul
Cemetery, Sunman.

Irvin C. Hornberger
Irvin C. Hornberger, 69, of Sunman, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at his residence.
He was born February 9, 1935 in Lawrenceville the son of Raymond and Lydia
Walter Hornberger, both deceased. He married Barbara Howard in 1965 at St.
John's Lutheran Church, Hubbell's Corner, and she preceded him in death on
February 13, 2004.
Survivors include one daughter, Jill Hornberger of Sunman, three sons and daughters-in-law,
Jeff and Denise Hornberger of Columbus, OH, Jason and Caryn Hornberger of Lawrenceburg,
Jeremy and Tonia Hornberger of Sunman, one sister, Norma Craft of Sunman, three
grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hornberger was a retired electrician for Cincinnati, Inc. in Harrison, OH.
He was an Army veteran receiving his discharge on December 31, 1962 and was also
a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hubbell's Corner.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17 at Cook Funeral Home in Sunman with
Dr. Daniel Leigh Nugent officiating.
Burial was in the St. John's Cemetery, Hubbell's Corner, with military graveside
honors.

Laura May Ross
Laura May Ross, 20, of North Vernon, died Sunday, July 18, 2004 at Methodist
Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born February 21, 1984 in Indianapolis, the
daughter of James Ross and Jill Ross and they survive in North Vernon.
Other survivors include two brothers, Nathan Ross of North Vernon, James Ross
Jr., of South Bend, grandparents, Ronald and Bonnie Foist of Scipio, and great
grandmother Winifred Foist of Scipio. She was preceded in death by grandparents,
Myron and Laura Ross.
Miss Ross was a 2003 graduate of Jennings County High School where she had been
a student athletic trainer for five years. She was attending Indiana State University
majoring in athletic training and was employed at Max & Erma's Restaurant
in Seymour. She was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Geneva Township.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 21 from 4-8 p.m. at Dove-Sharp & Rudicell
Funeral Home, North Vernon. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home
Thursday, July 22 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tracy McIntyre officiating. Burial will

Louis H. Schulenburg, 86, of Dillsboro, died Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Dearborn
County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born April 4, 1918 in Farmers Retreat
the son of Alvin T. Schulenburg and Emelia Moeller, both deceased. He married
Ardell G. Pieper and she preceded him in death. He was a farmer.
Survivors include two daughters, Margo (Schulenburg) York of Aurora, Gay Ann
Schulenburg of Carrollton, KY, one brother, Walter Schulenburg of Milan, two
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro.
Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Memorials may go to the Dillsboro

Teresa Elaine Browning
Teresa Elaine (Carson) Browning, 46, of Cape Canaveral, FL, died June 25, 2004.
She was born July 29, 1957 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Dale and Diane
Carson of Versailles and they survive.
Other survivors include her husband Paul Browning; sisters, Jackie Williams,
Deborah Bessley, Cheryl Stevens, Tina Carson all of Indianapolis; brothers, Steven
and Michael Carson both of Indianapolis, grandmothers, Marjorie Adkins and Dorothy
Pettit; aunt Florence West of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by grandfathers, Henry Adkins, Rubin Carson and Harry Pettit.
Mrs. Browning was a hairdresser.

Virgil L. Bushorn
Virgil L. Bushorn, 85, of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Milan, died Saturday, July
17, 2004 at the Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. He was born April 19,
1919 in Ripley County the son of Louis and Mattie (Lows) Bushorn. He was married
to Willamae (Walker) Bushorn on September 9, 1940 and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Gary and wife Mary Lynn Bushorn of Cincinnati,
Robert and wife Lee Ann Bushorn of Fairfield, OH, sister, Alma Linden of Middletown,
OH, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Bushorn was a member of the Milan First Baptist Church, a WWII veteran having
served in the Pacific Theatre. He was at the invasion of both Iwo Jima and Okinawa
and was aboard the USS Dickens at Tokyo for the signing of the armistice. He
was a retired employee of Seagram's, Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, July 20 at 2 p.m. at the Milan
Baptist Church with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will be in the Old Milan
Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Aurora VFW. Memorials
may be made to the Milan Baptist Church.

Dolan "Butch" L.
Seaver
Dolan "Butch" L. Seaver, 55, of Moores Hill, died Saturday, July
10, 2004 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born May 7,
1949
in Cincinnati the son of Donald B. Seaver and Jean Elizabeth Seaver and they
survive in Aurora. He married Deborah (Wagner) Seaver and she preceded him in
death on July 4, 2002. He then married Rita F. (Clift) Seaver and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Thomas Seaver and wife Laura of Aurora, Jason
Seaver of Moores Hill, two grandchildren, one sister, Sheila S. Maybrier of Milan,
two brothers, John Seaver of Farmers Retreat, James Ashcraft of East Enterprise
and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Seaver was a member of the Washington Baptist Church, Elrod, and the American
Legion, Milan and worked for American Electric Power Company in Lawrenceburg.
He was a marine veteran having served in 1974.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 13 from noon until the time of services
at 2 p.m. at Bovard-Holt-Furst Funeral Home, Versailles.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, July 13, at 2 p.m. at the funeral
home with Rev. Bruce Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill
Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Milan American Legion.

Edith A. Steinkamp
Edith A. Steinkamp, 56, of Batesville, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at Jewish Kenwood
Hospital, Cincinnati. She was born July 4, 1948 in Batesville the daughter
of Noel Ertel and Myrtle Ann Riedeman Ertel, both deceased. She married Thomas
Steinkamp on May 23, 1970 at the St. Louis Church in Batesville and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Beth Moorman of St. Maurice, Kate Steinkamp
of Batesville, two sons, Eric Steinkamp of Oldenburg, Mark Steinkamp of Batesville,
three sisters, Esther Hoover of Batesville, Marilyn Peetz of Mason, OH, Margaret
Ziegler of Indianapolis, one brother, George Ertel of Sunman, father, Noel Ertel
and stepmother, Mary Ertel both of Metamora and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Ann Ertel.
Mrs. Steinkamp was an alumnus of Immaculate Conception Academy in Oldenburg.
She graduated from St. Vincent's School of Nursing and then earned her bachelors
degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan. She was a surgical nurse for Margaret
Mary Community Hospital for 35 years. She was a member of St. Louis Church, Batesville,
and the St. Louis Ladies Society.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, July 13 at 10 a.m. at the St. Louis
Church with Rev. Daniel Mahan officiating. Burial will be in the St. Louis Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Jewish Hospital Oncology Patient Activity Room,
J. Michael Hansen Oncology Center or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Frances K. Mendel
Frances K. Mendel, 93, of Moores Hill, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at the Dearborn
County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born March 12, 1911 in Sacramento,
CA, the daughter of Lorenzo and Zamon (Savage) Kidder. She married James Wesley
Mendel in 1934 in and he preceded her in death in 1984.
Survivors include one nephew, Fred Wiggers of Dayton, OH, three nieces, Marie
Hopper and Jackie Fabbri both of Bakersfield, CA, Zamie Ann Studt of Denver,
CO, and special friends, Linda Wiggers of Dayton, OH, and Dorothy Bennett of
Moores Hill.
Mrs. Mendel was a former employee of Public Service at Aurora and then at the
Moores Hill Bank for 35 years until her retirement in 1973. She was an active
member of the Milan United Methodist Church for over 70 years, the Rebeccah Lodge
and the Milan Easter Star for over 50 years, Aurora Eagles Lodge 40 plus years
and was a charter member of the Aurora Ladies Auxiliary.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at Sibbett-Moore Funeral
Homes, Moores Hill with Rev. Stormy Scherer-berry officiating. Burial was in
the Forest Hill Cemetery, Moores Hill. Memorials may be made to the Moores Hill
Fire Department or Life Squad.
Hilda May Hyatt
Hilda May Hyatt, 95, of Osgood, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Margaret
Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born near Rexville on February
26, 1909 the daughter of Jesse and Minda Ford Lewis. She was married to Edmond
Hyatt on February 28, 1935 and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1997.
Survivors include one son, Dale Hyatt and wife Ruth of Osgood, one grandson,
Benji Hyatt. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ernest and Robert Lewis
and sisters Abbie Myers and Grace Sproessig.
Mrs. Hyatt was a homemaker and a 1927 graduate of New Marion High School. She
also attended Ball State University and was a member of the Jehovah's Witness
Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 12 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd of the Cedar Creek Community
Church officiating. Burial was in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials may be given
to the cemetery in care of the funeral home.
Larry D. (Yogi) Bear
Larry D. (Yogi) Bear, 65, of Versailles, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at his
residence. He was born September 18, 1938 in Cincinnati the son of Lawrence
and Phyllis (Runyan) Bear.
Survivors include his mother, Phyllis Bear, two sons, Mike Bear of Versailles,
Chris Bear of Clinton, NJ, three stepdaughters, Susanne Smith, Sherry Kissell
both of Osgood, Annette Morrison of Batesville, one brother, Stanley H. Bear
of Greendale, sister, Bonnie Sue Workman of Aurora, eight grandchildren and four
great grandchildren.
Mr. Bear was a self-employed auto mechanic for many years, a member of the Osgood
Amvets and Osgood American Legion.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10 at 12 noon at Sibbett-Moore Funeral
Home, Moores Hill with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial was in the Hogan Hill
Cemetery north of Moores Hill.
Memorials may be made to the Dearborn County Cancer Fund.
Marie Roberts
Marie Roberts, 85, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Napoleon, passed away Saturday,
July 10, 2004 at the Reid Hospital in Richmond. She was born in Concord, KY,
on May 1, 1919 the daughter of Albert and Fannie May Craig Doyle. She was married
to Malcolm Roberts in 1938 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Donald Roberts of Napoleon, one daughter, Sandy
Smith of Phoenix, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, two brothers,
Alvin Doyle and wife Verena of Connersville, Walter Doyle and wife Jean of Connersville,
two sisters, Ruth Shepherd and husband Lawrence of Connersville and Hazel Comer
and husband Norman of Greensburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, one
daughter, Sharon Hutto, sister, Thelma Doyle and her brother Lawrence Doyle and
one great grandchild.
Mrs. Roberts was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, July 13 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home, Versailles with Rev. Rand Hooton officiating. Visitation will be
from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery
in Elrod.

Stancombe
Wanda Jean "Granny" Stancombe, 79, of Columbus,
died Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Hospice Center of South
Central Indiana. She was born February
10, 1925 in Osgood the daughter of Bert Reed Sr. and Laura Maier Reed, both deceased.
She married Warren Stancombe and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Michael Stancombe of Georgia, one daughter, Loretta
Pruitt of Columbus, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one brother,
Bert Reed of Columbus.
Mrs. Stancombe was a member of the Cathedral of Praise Church of God, a lifelong
member of the Eastern Star and retired from Cosco.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 12 at 1 p.m. at Vernon Jewell-Nick Rittman
Funeral Home, Columbus with Rev. Bob Vance officiating. Burial was in the Garland
Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cathedral of Praise or Hospice of

Alvina L. Westerfeld
Alvina L. Westerfeld, 83, of Batesville, died Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Margaret
Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born March 3, 1921 in Batesville
the daughter of George and Frieda (Belter) Siebert, both deceased. She married
Raymond Westerfeld on August 12, 1939 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads,
and he preceded her in death on March 5, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene (Jenny) Westerfeld of Greensburg, Steven Westerfeld
of Dillsboro, one daughter-in-law, Rita Westerfeld of Batesville, eight grandchildren
and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth
and one grandson.
Mrs. Westerfeld was a 1938 graduate of Batesville High School. She was also a
homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church,
Crossroads, with Pastor Robin Owen officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may go to the church or Rescue 10.

Ambrose J. Enneking
Ambrose J. Enneking, 81, of Oldenburg, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Margaret
Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born May 17, 1923 in Franklin
County the son of Joseph Enneking and Bronda Kirschner Enneking, both deceased.
He married Fran Frey Enneking on August 13, 1946 at St. Joseph's Church in
St. Leon and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kay Schumacher and Diane Dierckman, both
of Batesville, one son, Keith Enneking of Maple Rapids, MI, two sisters, Cordelia
Harmeyer of Connersville, Sally Meyer of Batesville, twelve grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alphonse,
Stanley and Sylvester Enneking.
Mr. Enneking worked for the Romweber Company for 35 years and for Heartwood Manufacturing
for 10 years as a cabinet maker retiring in 2003. He was a member of Holy Family
Church and the Eagle Fire Company in Oldenburg for 35 years. He was also a WWII
Army veteran.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3, 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church with
Rev. John Turnbull, O.F.M. officiating.
Burial was in the Holy Family Cemetery in Oldenburg. Memorials may go to the
Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research. Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville, was in

Pinky" Meierle
Charles F. "Pinky" Meierle of Mt. Washington died
June 28, 2004 at his residence. He was born October 10, 1930
in Ripley County the son of Charles
and Clara (Matz) Meierle, both deceased. Mr. Meierle worked at Cincinnati Millcron
for over 27 years.
Survivors include four children, Jeffrey (Sheri) Meierle, Jennifer (Scott Schmits)
Dowers, Juli (Todd) May and Marc (Michelle) Meierle, two sisters, Margaret Terrican
and Genny Pickett, three brothers, Gary, Harold and Irvin Meierle and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, July 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Jerome
Church, 131 Rhode St., California.
Friends may call at T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Avenue,
Mt. Washington today, Tuesday, July 6 from 6-9 p.m.
