Ruth R. Napier
Ruth R. Napier, 83, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at her
residence. She was born in Milton, Indiana on June 19, 1920 the daughter of
Ernest and Lena Berry Moore. She was married to Estille Napier and he preceded
her in death in 1973.
Mrs. Napier was a homemaker and had formerly worked for New Horizons.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis Napier of Ft. Pierce, FL, Ricky Napier of
Norwood, OH, Willie Napier of Versailles, five daughters, Sondra Goble of Cambridge
City, Nancy Daugherty and Diane Atkinson, both of Versailles, Cheryl Rogers of
Greensburg, Betty Foster of Vevay, one brother, Paul Moore of Centerville, one
sister, Doris Hoover of Florida and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Linda Kay Dismore
and five brothers, Bob, Abe, Cecil, John and Ceber Moore.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 24, 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day officiating.
Burial was in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may be given to
the donor's choice.
Margaret Rebecca (Harper) Black
Margaret Rebecca (Harper) Black, 94, of Cross Plains, died Saturday, April 24,
2004 at Woodpointe Nursing Home in Florence, KY. She was born April 21, 1910
in Jefferson County the daughter of John Elliott Harper and Nellie Buchanan
Harper, both deceased. She married Ernest Black on February 7, 1935 and he
preceded her in death.
Survivors include five sons, Dilver Thayer and wife Linda of Lake City, FL,
Harold Black and wife Judy of Cincinnati, OH, David Black and wife Rita of
Cincinnati,
OH, Richard Black and wife Mary of Cross Plains, Roger Black and wife Terri of
Bluffton, two daughters, Phyllis Taylor and husband Harold of New Richmond, OH,
Marilyn Wisher and husband Jerry of Florence, KY, eighteen grandchildren, seventeen
great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by one brother, George "Hoot" Harper and one sister, Geneva Baxter.
Mrs. Black was a psychiatric aide at the Madison State Hospital. She was also
a member of the Cross Plains Methodist Church and Daughter's of American Revolution.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 28, 10 a.m. until time of services at
Bovard-Holt-Furst Funeral Home in Versailles.
Funeral services will follow visitation at the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Rev.
Ron Fox officiating.
Burial will be in the Cross Plains Methodist Cemetery. Memorials may go to the
cemetery.
Jack Richard Routh
Jack Richard Routh, 43, of Dillsboro, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Dearborn
County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born June 1, 1960 in Honduras, South
America the son of Felix L. Routh and Maria Routh VanDever.
Survivors include one brother, Trevor D. VanDever of Dillsboro, one son, Jack
R. Routh, Jr. of Dillsboro, one daughter, Jillian A. Routh of Dillsboro, one
brother, Delton VanDever of New York City, NY, one sister, Donna Mills of Dillsboro
and his mother, Maria VanDever of Dillsboro. He was preceded in death by his
father, Felix L. Routh.
Mr. Routh was a 1978 graduate of Dillsboro High School. He was a pipefitter for
United Industrial Piping in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, April 24, 2 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery
in Dillsboro.
Memorials may go to the charity of donor's choice. Ulrich-Filter Funeral Home,
Dillsboro, was in charge of the arrangements.
Joseph A. Stein, Sr.
Joseph A. Stein, Sr., 85, of Oldenburg, died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Margaret
Mary Hospital in Batesville. Born March 27, 1919 in Batesville, he is the son
of Anthony and Mae (Nee: Ortman) Stein. He married Henrietta Werner on November
20, 1941 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg.
Mr. Stein was a farmer and also worked as a carpenter for the Fasbinder Company
for 25 years and maintenance for Hillenbrand Industries for 17 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Holy Family Church and served on the New Horizons Board
of Directors, the Ray Township Advisory Board, the Future Farmers of America
Advisory Board and was a 4-H leader for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife Henrietta of Oldenburg, daughters Jane Bohman of Robinson,
Illinois, Janet Deller of Osgood, Edith Stein of Oldenburg, Esther Winters of
Lynchburg, Virginia, sons, Joseph Jr. of Greensburg, James of Frankenmuth, Michigan,
brother Bill Stein of Batesville, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his grandson Greg Bohman.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, April 27 from 4-8 p.m. at the Weigel
Funeral Home in Batesville. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 10 a.m. at the Holy Family
Church with Rev. John Turnbull, O.F.M. officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to New Horizons
or the J. Michael Hansen Oncology Center.

Allyn Leah Harvey
Allyn Leah Harvey, 53, of Milan, formerly of Oldenburg, died Wednesday, April
7, 2004 at her residence. She was born April 21, 1950 in De Moines, IA the
daughter of Duane and Charlene (Cook) Clippert. She married John Harvey on
August 10, 1968 and he preceded her in death in 1993.
Survivors include her special friend, Kenneth Davidson, one daughter, Tracy Dwenger
of Oldenburg, one son, Christopher Harvey of Batesville, six sisters, Karen Cawley,
Dana Clippert, Terry Stockwell, Christie Clippert, Charlene Williams and Amy
Bernard, three brothers, David, Steve and Jeff Clippert and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Harvey was a medial staff coordinator at Margaret Mary Community Hospital
in Batesville. She was also a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 10, 3 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home
in Batesville with Father John Turnbull officiating.
Memorials may go to the J. Michael Hansen Oncology Center.

Robertson
L. Gayle (Dick) Robertson, 88, of Hanover, died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at King's
Daughters' Hospital, Madison. He was born December 4, 1915 in New Marion the
son of George Robertson and Mary Grace Shaw, both deceased. He married Fern K.
(Watson) Leach Robertson and she preceded him in death in 1997.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Johnson and husband Mac of Hanover;
one brother, Earl Robertson of Zionsville; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren;
four great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by one stepson, J.W. Leach in 1998.
Mr. Robertson was a retired carpenter having worked at Indiana-Kentucky Electric
Power Plant, Markland Dam and Marble Hill Projects. He was an Army veteran of
WWII and was aslo a member of the Hanover Baptist Church, VFW #1969 and the Carpenter's
Local #631.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 14, 5-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Thursday
at Vail-Holt Funeral Home, Hanover. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday,
April 15 at the funeral home with Rev. J.D. Traylor officiating. Burial will
be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens with military graveside services conducted
by the Honor Guard of the American Legion Post #9.
Ilene McGee
Ilene McGee, 83, of Friendship, passed away Monday, April 12, 2004 at the Waters
of Ross Manor, Dillsboro. She was born at Friendship on January 11, 1921 the
daughter of Fred and Erma Damon Hartig. She was married to Dale McGee on October
22, 1949 and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2003.
Mrs. McGee was a homemaker and had worked the admission gate at the NMLRA in
Friendship for 35 years.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth McGee and wife Judy of Cross Plains; grandson,
Kevin McGee and wife Danielle of Pleasant and her great grandson Logan McGee.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 14 from 12 noon until the time of services
at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles. Funeral services will be
held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Sherman Hughes of the
Bear Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery
in Dillsboro.
Memorials may be made to the Friendship Fire Department.
Lisa Franklin
Lisa Franklin, 41, of Austin, formerly of Holton, passed away Thursday, April
8, 2004 at the Scott County Hospital in Scottsburg. She was born at Batesville
on February 7, 1963 the daughter of Gene and Shirley Estell Franklin.
Ms. Franklin was a 1981 graduate of South Ripley High School and attended Franklin
College where she played basketball and softball. She graduated with a Bachelor's
degree in park management from Ball State in 1985 and later from Vincennes University
with a degree in physical therapy. She worked as a physical therapist for the
St. Vincent Jennings Community Hospital in North Vernon. She was a member of
the Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include her companion, Chrissy Anderson, her parents, Gene and Shirley
Franklin of the Hopewell community, children Chad Anderson and Sammy Prather
at home, her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ida Franklin of the Hopewell community,
one brother, Darrell Franklin of Holton, two nephews, one niece and several aunts,
uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 12, 11 a.m. at the Hopewell Baptist
Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Heart Fund or
to the Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund.

Lucille M. Waldon
Lucille M. Waldon, 97 of Moores Hill, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at her residence.
She was born February 14, 1907 in Bullitsville, KY the daughter of James and
Alice Mae (Pease) Masters, both deceased. She married Herman Waldon on February
1, 1923 and he preceded her in death on September 13, 1986.
Survivors include one son, Jim Waldon of Moores Hill, two daughters, Norma Sparks
of Milan, Freda Sharp of Aurora and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by one son, Robert Waldon in 1998, two sisters, Ruth Blackburn and Lorain Snow
and one grandson.
Mrs. Waldon was a homemaker and also a member of the Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 12, 11 a.m. at Sibbett-Moore Funeral
Home in Moores Hill with Rev. Tom Fehrman officiating.
Burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill. Memorials may go to the
Moores Hill Rescue Unit.
Ruth R. Hoffman
Ruth R. Hoffman, 82, of Sunman, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at her residence.
She was born January 31, 1922 in Cincinnati, OH the daughter of Louis and Mary
Messerschmidt DeSerisy, both deceased. She married Harry Scott and he preceded
her in death. She then married John Hoffman and he also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Ann and husband Dan Schmidt of Bright,
Melissa Ann Hoffman of San Diego, CA, three sons, John and wife Joan Hoffman
of Bright, Greg and wife Tammy Hoffman of Sunman, Gary and wife Cheryl Hoffman
of Greensburg, one sister, Dorothea Marie Wetterer of Sunman, eleven grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter,
Mary Louise Hoffman, two sisters, Betty Hetzel and Mary Starman and two brothers,
Lewis and Don DeSerisy.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 10, 8:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home
in Sunman with Rev. Winston Shelton officiating.
Burial was in the Old St. Joseph's Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH. Memorials may

Walter Arnie Siebert
Walter Arnie Siebert, 71, of Batesville, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Margaret
Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born August 20, 1932 in Batesville
the son of Walter and Lorina (Behlmer) Siebert, both deceased. He married Robert
Jean "Bobbie" Green on April 21, 1956 at St. John UCC and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, David (Wanda) Siebert of Greensburg, Steven
(Amy) Siebert of Batesville, one brother, Amos Siebert of Batesville and five
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Orval Siebert
and one sister, Marjorie Kessens.
Mr. Siebert was retired from Romweber Furniture but spent most of his life working
for Union Furniture Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea and was also
a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 12, 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church
with Pastor Robin Owen officiating.
Burial was in the St. Paul Church Cemetery with military graveside rites. Memorials

" Don" Otter
Donald Lee "Don" Otter, 73, of Vevay, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004
at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born October 7, 1930 in Vevay
the son of Clarence E. Otter and Elsie E. (Boyd) Otter, both deceased. He married
Jean (Cochran) Otter on July 22, 1950 and she survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Georgia Gullion and husband Wayne
of Vevay, Vicki O'Brien and companion David Monroe of Versailles, Jean Ann
Cole of Vevay, two sons, Donald Wayne Otter and wife Rhonda of Moorefield,
Ronald Dale Otter and wife Lorrie of Vevay, one brother, Raymond Otter of Madison,
one sister, Mary E. Jones of Patriot, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren
and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by
two brothers, Paul and Charles H. Otter and one sister, Norma Jean Brindley.
Mr. Otter was employed for 19 years as an electrician and maintenance man at
the U.S. Shoe Corporation in Vevay. He was later employed in security for Kentucky
Utilities & East Bend Power Plant. He also worked for Hilltop Basic Resources
at Patriot for several years. He owned and operated Otter's Bait & Tackle
Shoppe in Vevay for several years and now the Markland Bait Shoppe at the Markland
Dam.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 3, 8 p.m. at Haskell & Morrison
Funeral Home in Vevay with Rev. Howard Wade officiating.
Burial was in the Vevay Cemetery. Memorials may go to the American Heart Association

Eugenia L. Treadway
Eugenia L. Treadway, 93, of Osgood, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Margaret
Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born October 4, 1910 in Beattyville,
KY the daughter of Charles and Nannie Bailey. She married William Jackson
Treadway and he preceded her in death on September 8, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Alyce Amick of Edisto Beach, SC; Ann and husband
Paul Peters of Avon; three sons, Harold and wife Sandy Treadway of Versailles;
Donald Treadway and wife Sue of College Corner, OH; Larry Treadway and wife
Linda of North Vernon; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother
Elvin Ray Bailey of Middletown, OH.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Eunice Kincaid, Geneva Treadway
and Virginia Shoemaker and two brothers, Russell Bailey and Cord Bailey.
Mrs. Treadway was a member of Christian Churches and was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 4 at 3 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home,
Brookville with Rev. John Witt officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Flat
Cemetery near Overpeck, OH.

JC Ramsey
JC Ramsey, 71, of Vevay, died Saturday, April 3 at King's Daughters' Hospital,
Madison. He was born December 27, 1932 in Henry County, KY the son of George
Dewey Ramsey and Mary B. (Covington) Ramsey. He married Janice L. (Brown)
Ramsey on October 6, 1956 at the Vevay United Methodist Parsonage and she
survives.
Other survivors include one son, Micah Ramsey and wife Shawnna of Vevay; two
grandchildren, Dustin and Kyla; one brother, George Ramsey and wife Mary of
Center Square; two sisters Gladys Lucas of Mt. Sterling; Peggy Furnish and
husband, Jerry of Osgood; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by one son, Alan J. Ramsey who died on August 7, 1978.
Mr. Ramsey was a 1950 graduate of Vevay High School and had attended Ivy Tech.
He served a term and one year as Switzerland County Clerk, later working as
a field examiner for the Indiana State Board of Accounts. He worked as a shipping
controller for Randall-Textron Corp in Vevay for 15 years. He was currently
serving his second term as Switzerland County Auditor. He was a member of the
Vevay American Legion Post 185, board member of the Switzerland County Medical
Board and the Vevay Assembly. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Graveside funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, April 6 at 11 a.m.
at the Vevay Cemetery with Pastors Kenny and Carolyn Miller officiating. Full
military honors will be conducted by the Vevay American Legion and VFW.
Memorials may be made to the Vevay Assembly Building Fund or the Center Square
Church of Christ Building Fund.

Joseph J. Lambert, 63, of Rising Sun, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the Dearborn
County Hospital. He was born August 11, 1940 in Danville, IL the son of
Harry and Josephine Helen Petkas, both deceased.
Survivors include, one daughter, Nikki Dawn Carpenter of Houma, LA; one son,
Joseph James Lambert of Houma, LA; one brother, Steve Lambert of Jacksonville,
NC; one sister, Shirley Creamer of Danville, IL, and two grandchildren.
Mr. Lambert was a veteran of the Army and Airforce during the Vietnam War and
was employed with Bayer Corporation in Addyston, OH.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, April 6 from 12 noon until the time
of services at 2 p.m. at the Ulrich Filter Funeral Home, Dillsboro. Burial
will be in the VA National Cemetery in Danville, IL.

Kathleen McQueen
Kathleen McQueen, 52, of Guilford, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Batesville.
She was the daughter of Louis and Myrtle (Rapier) Acres, both deceased
and was also a former U.S. Shoe employee.
Survivors include her husband, Robert McQueen, one son, Michael Shawn McQueen,
Sr. of Sunman, six brothers and sisters, Louis Acres, Jr., Charles Acres, Emily
Miller, Louise Cliff, Elonnie Pierce and Ethel Alexander and three grandchildren,
Michael Shawn McQueen, Jr., Britney McQueen and Angel McQueen. She was preceded
in death by one brother and one sister.

Funeral Home in Harrison, OH with Pastor Hilton Reed officiating.

Marjorie B. Crossman
Marjorie B. Crossman, 84, of Napoleon, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at St.
Frances Hospital and Health Center, Beech Grove. She was born January 29,
1920 in Napoleon the daughter of Emerson Albert and Martha Catherine Hertenstein
Behlmer. She married Wm. H. Crossman, Jr., on October 3, 1942 in Indianapolis
and he preceded her in death on May 23, 1985.
Survivors include one son, Donald G. Crossman of Pasadena, MD; one daughter,
Catherine M. Bruns of Napoleon; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Wm. Henry Crossman III.
She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Napoleon, past member of
the Osgood Versailles Eastern Stars, past co-owner of Crossman Fire & Safety
of Napoleon, and past co-owner of Behlmer Hardware of Napoleon.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, April 6, 10 a.m. at Neal's Funeral
Home, Osgood. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery, Napoleon. Memorials

Miriam M. Schoettmer
Miriam M. Schoettmer, 101, of St. Peters, died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the
Waters of Batesville. She was born July 8, 1902 in Cincinnati the daughter
of Arch and Margaret Lalley Metz. She married Charles T. Schoettmer and
he preceded her in death on April 18, 1967.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ruehl and Laura Schoettmer both of
St. Peter, three grandsons, three great grandchildren and dear friend Wayne
Mobley.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Keegan and one brother, Andy
Metz.
Mrs. Schoettmer was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 5 at the St. Peters Church with Rev.
Humbert Moster officiating. Burial was in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Cincinnati.

Russell E. "Johnny" Smith
Russell E. "Johnny" Smith, 69 of Bennington, died Thursday, April
1, 2004 at Mercy Mt. Airy Hospital, Cincinnati. He was born October 19, 1934
in Milan, the son of Russell Harold Smith and Doris Orem Smith. He married
Isabel Kay (Poling) on September 26, 1958 and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Patti Buchanan and companion Steve Meyer
of Fairview, Debra Smith and companion Guy Walker of Cincinnati; one son, Jeff
Smith and wife LeeAnn of Hebron, KY; one grandson, Nicholas Buchanan and wife
Lora of Madison; one sister, Ruby Dunning and husband Henry of Lawrenceburg;
two brothers, David Smith and wife Lura of Indianapolis; James Smith of Cross
Plains; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Smith and Harold Smith.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church. He was an Army
veteran, having received the Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Medal and Marksman
Medal. He was employed for 37 1/2 years with Joseph E. Seagram's & Sons
Distillery in Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at the Haskell & Morrison
Funeral Home, Vevay with Rev. Arnold Cutter officiating. Burial was in the
Vevay Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Vevay American Legion
and VFW.

Stella M. Henn
Stella M. Henn, 89, of Versailles, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at King's Daughters'
Hospital, Madison. She was born February 21, 1915 in Hamilton County, OH
the daughter of George and Mary Catherine (Neiman) Henn.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William (Katie) Bruns of Milan, three
grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great greatgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by one great grandchild and one brother.
Ms Henn was a member of the Milan Wesleyan Church.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, April 6 at 1 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore
Funeral Home, Milan with Brother Gene Ferguson officiating. Burial will be
in the German Lutheran Cemetery, Milan.

Wm. Dick Smith, 71, of Osgood, died Sunday, April 4, 2004 at Margaret Mary
Community Hospital, Batesville. He was born May 30, 1932 in Osgood the
son of Raymond and Ada Smith.
Survivors include one son, Wm. Ray Cumming of Indianapolis; two daughters,
Brenda Kay Widlickia of Indianapolis; Debbie Canter of Indianapolis; one sister,
Lenna Sheets Ransburg of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Wm. A. Gilland American Legion Post #267, Osgood and
was a 53-year member of the Osgood Amvets.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 7, 10-11 a.m. at Neal's Funeral Home,
Osgood. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7 at the
funeral home. Burial will be in the Mud Pike Cemetery, Osgood.
